It is hard and cumbersome to run estedfords. So while specific criticisms may well be valid, it is great to have the option to allow our children to hone performance skills
Please continue to provide this for our creative children
Thank you
Some sections are just too big and it's better to split them up.
I wish SE would put better effort into selection (for string section) of the adjudicatorors who are at least reasonable players themselves, and have a deep knowledge/ understanding of correct techniques and a understanding of levels of repertoire difficulty. The scale of adjudicators ranges from year to year, and I wish it would be more consistent.
The fee for relatives to see their child's performance is absolutely outrageous. It should be much cheaper. No everyone with a large family would be able to afford it.
This was our first year the Sydney eisteddfod competing in the 12 & under section, the organisation was great, the volunteers were friendly and the adjudication was informative and constructive. This was a great experience for our son and he looks forward to returning again next year.
The Eisteddfod helps people learn from their mistakes from the comments given by the adjudicators. Other than that, it is a great way to practice performance skills and to challenge yourself.
Fantastic event! The best piano competitions in Sydney! Very competitive young piano players, not only from NSW, but other states as well.
Sydney Eisteddfod offers our 26 troupes the absolute best in experience, professionalism and adjudication. Our dancers and parents highly value this adventure and we highly value Sydney Eisteddfod's commitment to dance.
Fantastic.
Really competitive environment but great for enhancing performance skill. Would highly recommend for anyone pursuing a career in entertainment as it is a really rewarding experience.
Sydney Eisteddfod Dance is a prestige dance comp that is well run with fantastic adjudicators. The venue is wonderful and therefore ticket viewing prices are not cheap unfortunately.
Our first time to partake in the Sydney Eisteddfod 2019. Very well planned and organized for such a large scale music eisteddfod!
Not a platform for young talent to be recognized or encouraged. The signs for registration are not clearly marked. Since the venue is new to most people clear directions for registration should be posted. My son went to compete yesterday, walked in front of the registration desk a few times without realising that it was the registration desk. When he eventually got to the desk to register (he was 4 minutes lat e by now) they said that he was late and could only play for comments but not placing. Fair enough, rules are rules but I would like to know why the people at the registration desk did not ask to help when they saw a kid with a musical instrument walk past them a few times. Are they there only to collect money and feel empowered because they could not be bothered. Shame!
Great Eisteddfod! Very well run. Love the venue, Petersham RSL.
Ticket prices ok.but it was a bit steep, paying for one section, ($22) then being told to leave the room for 45 mins only to be charged another $22 to re-enter! $88 for my husband and myself to watch our daughter perform two songs in sections back to back! Expensive day
A terrific Eisteddfod, well run on time and a supportive friendly atmosphere.
Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Shocking judging.charging $36 for a adult and child ticket.training your child to become a proper ballet dancer, yet judging judges 1st position based on no technicalities.judge better or the competition will eventually cease
$20 for one adult just to see my daughters section. What a rip off! I can buy tickets for the footy for $18 where it lasts for 2.5 hours and we see (famous sportsmen) not children of our own.
Rigged judges, try and get more experienced judges who have actually done (classical ballet) before. And if you’re going to judge, make sure you actually pay attention to every dancer. Number 29 should’ve won that one.
The greatest funnel of new talent in Australia and a wonderful showcase for young and upcoming performers.
