I recently visited this mechanic to get my air conditioning re-gassed and my fan belt checked, as well as a general assessment of my car's readiness for an upcoming road trip. I had been assured over the phone that any work and associated costs would be confirmed with me beforehand. During my visit, I waited for 40 minutes and was unexpectedly billed $80 for an oil top-up and tire pressure check etc.which I hadn't requested. This was particularly surprising as I had just completed a full $700 service 2 months before and got new tires installed two weeks earlier. My car had been driven less than 100km since my last service.

My main goal was to have the air conditioning re-gassed, but after the uncommunicated service and charge, I hesitated to request it. Although they assured me my car was in good condition, I would have preferred to be consulted about and approve any service before it was done and charged.

This was my second visit to this mechanic; the first time was for a headlight change. Even then, I experienced a discrepancy between the price quoted over the phone and what I was charged afterward.

Overall, I appreciate being informed and given the opportunity to approve services and costs beforehand, which is a practice I've experienced with other mechanics and would prefer.

Truly the best mechanic around! The staff are so friendly and professional. They were so willing to help when I had car troubles and ensured I wasn’t overcharged. It’s hard to come buy a reputable, and trustworthy mechanic. 10/10 recommend.

3 hours for a pink slip that they failed over faded number plates? ! And an over exaggerated quote of $600 to fix a mirror that I've now had fixed for $200 elsewhere? That was previously approved. Don't go here if you're a female by yourself they will take you for a ride and waste your time. Pretty easy to tell when men don't respect you and think they can take advantage of you.

I had another mechanic booked in for a Blue Slip earlier today and when I rocked up (to the other mechanic) they said they wouldn't do it as they only did Pink Slips, even though I specifically stated I needed a Blue Slip! I needed to get it done today and made a few phone calls before finding Sydney City Auto Care. The guys were able to squeeze me in last minute for a Blue Slip and were so easy to deal with. The car was ready within 2 hours and I was able to make it into Service NSW to change over my rego. I also had safety screws on my number plate and they were more than happy to take off the old rego plates for me. I highly recommend Sydney City Auto Care and I'll be bringing in our other car once we change over its rego.

Unfortunately, these guys will take advantage of you. I paid $876 for a standard service and blue slip ($66). They did call prior to run through the costs but I assumed these were essential repairs. I admit I am not very car-savvy and agreed to all recommendations except for the air con filter replacement as I had personally replaced this a month prior. I said that the costs were high and the guy on the phone just said "I guess it does add up". When I reviewed the invoice afterwards I was billed $85 for a Throttle Body Pro Stream Cleaner (what the?) and for filter replacements totalling $210 which I found out later were not at all necessary. I'm incredibly surprised to see all these positive reviews because these guys will 100% take you for a ride. If you decide to go with them, please push back when they grossly inflate your repairs - don't make the same mistake I did!

UPDATE - I received a call last Friday from your office saying my review was misleading and mid convo you put the phone down and never returned. Rudest guys out! The service was a minor, pic below.

I highly recommend this place as everyone was soo friendly welcoming and helpful. As a female I don't know much about cars at all but they took their time in explaining everything. Thank you soo much will definitely be coming here to service my car from now on

My car blew a head gasket on the highway and I wasn’t in a great headspace. They gave honest and frank advice and called me when I forgot a bag in their customer waiting area. Could not recommend more.
