I had left my Sony GM 16-35 lens to be repaired back in January. The repair work on the 2nd group assembly and focus calibration was eventually done well, but it took a frustratingly long 8 months. The major downside was the lack of communication throughout the process.

On pickup, they mentioned that the extended wait was due to a parts shortage, which they found expensive. I understand it was an intense repair job, but communication would have made the process less frustrating. They also increased the price by $200 on pickup.

Although, I did mention it in my message to them, be sure to emphasise if you are claiming on your insurance as they will replace the entire part instead which should be faster.

Came here because after read all 5 stars reviews.
But customer service was not great at all. No communication about the process.
And just blaming customer in their language. Very shame

Aquila repaired my wife’s Fuji X-T2 a few months back. He gave a very fair price for the repair work and carried the work out promptly. For all your camera repair needs you MUST go and see Aquila.

Having read all these 5 star reviews, I am very sad to say that my experience with this store wasn’t a very positive one.

I understand some days you may not be feeling your best and thus, perhaps your customer service that day won’t be the best either. However, not even greeting the customer when the enter the store and just standing there isn’t the best first impression. I felt like an intruder and unwelcome.

I presented my two film cameras to the lady - the first one she looked at it for half a minute and decided it’s not fixable. The second one had a power issue (something I already know since the camera won’t turn on) and she also deemed it unfixable after taking out the batteries and popping it back in, trying to turn on the camera. She goes “won’t turn on power issue, cannot fix”. She doesn’t really provide an explanation.

I really wanted to have a great experience here but I didn’t. I am not upset that my cameras can’t be repaired.
I understand that sometimes with old cameras it cannot be fixed but there’s many ways to interact with the customer and this wasn’t it.

Severely disappointed after driving an hour to this store.

As someone who's got a wide range of film cameras, I can confidently say this is the best camera repair shop in all Sydney. If you are looking for a professional, efficient, specialized place, don't hesitate to come here (I lost 2 months sending my camera to a different place where they didn't even take a look at it). They're extremely kind and treat the customers respectfully. I brought my Mamiya RZ67 which had a shutter lag issue. This seemed to be a difficult thing to solve but they were able to fix it very quickly. Thanks a lot for the service, I'll comeback anytime I need my film camera collection to be serviced.

Just simply the best camera repairer in Sydney. Can’t thank Aquila and his wife enough.
They managed to finish a very complicated repair to my Pentax 6x7 in time for me to take it on holiday AND at a fair price.
Great communication from the start on the process of diagnosis, repair cost and kept me updated.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I used to be a loyal customer here, but not sure what’s happened. The service used to be amazing, staff were really knowledgeable with quick turnaround times and would contact you and explain the issues with the camera and quote you appropriately.

My most recent visit will be my last - after coming by to drop off my camera, the shop owner was rude and did not appear to care. Barely listened when I explained the issues with my camera unit and told me to fill out the form and they’d be in touch within 5 working days.

Two weeks later, I called following up on the status of my repairs, and they said there were no spare parts available and that they had messaged me a week ago. This never occurred, and when I told them I didn’t receive a message, they replied “This happens” without an apology. Then after saying the unit could not be fixed, they hung up on me immediately and said nothing about arranging to pick up the damaged unit. I will not be coming back.

I emailed for a quote, called a few days later to follow up and was asked to hang up and wait for a reply to the email. Still haven't heard from them, so will now be looking for another repair shop.

I repaired my Sony A7Sii here after encountering debilitating sensor troubles. I was very concerned that I would have to replace the whole unit. I entered the quaint shop and left my camera with them. After some days I received a text that the camera had been inspected, cleaned and the problem was resolved without need for further parts replacement! They advised me on potential future issues and gave me maintenance advice to avoid later complications. Overall excellent and considerate service looking to assist and help you as quickly and simply as possible. Strongly recommend!

I took my Pentax LX film camera and Pentax-A 50 mm F1.4 lens to get a quotation and have my camera body CLA'ed, as well as my Lens Cleaned. I was charged $55.00 inc GST to provide a quotation on how much it would cost to CLA the camera which is standard.
He then sent me a text message a couple of days later with the quotation which I thought was reasonable on the camera repair but not on the lens, however whilst waiting for a response from me, he had already gone ahead and done the work on the lens without me consenting to the work.
Even though the quotation on the lens clean was on the high side so I advised him not to go ahead with it, he sent a text to say it has already been Cleaned? So why charged $55.00 for a quotation on the repair if you're planning to to start doing the work before you provide a quotation I don't understand.
I spoke to his wife on the phone and she advised me I didn't have to pay for the lens clean but he had already gone ahead with it. I simply could not do that to him and I agreed to pay for the work even though I didn't agreed with the quotation on the price he sent me via text.
Today I attended his garage work shop to pick up my Camera body while I was in the workshop Mr. Aquila walked out of the room, that left me to deal with his wife, whilst I was very happy with the lens, the camera is still not cleaned properly. His wife tried to charge me another $55.00 over the counter for providing a quotation for the work which he had already gone ahead with without my consent. I showed her the bank receipt and she backed off. I also asked him wife to provide me with the scope of the work done and sent it to my Email address, as i highly doubt he even open the camera up to look inside.the shutter still feels the same and there is dirt and black spots inside the camera. There is also a scratch on top of my FA-1 eye piece. I have sent him text message and there has not been any replies.
