Absolutely one of the most informative and insightful walking tours I have ever done: "Utzon and the Sydney Opera House". Eoghan was so knowledgeable and delivered many great stories that we were totally unaware of until we did this walk.
This should be a 'must' on everyone's bucket list.

Insightful and enthralling tour of Sydney Opera House. Eoghan was fabulous, full of passion and a great depth of knowledge of the history of events leading to this iconic building and all of the surrounding drama.

I have also been on The Track tour and Transformation of Ultimo and highly recommend these as well. These guys have an understanding of the architecture but also the buildings historical context which shines!

Stands out as the best set of architecture tours I've done. Excellent fusing of architecture appreciation with the historical context: political forces and battles that shaped the city. Accessible, and very engaging, from tour guides that are obviously passionate and well-researched.

I've taken architecture tours in San Francisco, Vancouver, Seattle, and Phnom Penh, but SAW tours in Sydney are the best, because of how they explain the history.

This tour was a wonderful reminder of the undeniable fact that the way to get to know something is through its story and Eoghan presents the captivating story of the Opera House in all its richness!

There is always more to know and understand about the Opera House and this tour was jam-packed with interesting anecdotes and vignettes of the characters involved, it has certainly brought me closer to understanding Sydney, the Opera House and Utzon.

Cannot recommend highly enough! I absolutely loved every minute of The Track tour; I was gripped from the beginning and found the pace, delivery and content riveting. Whether you are visiting Sydney or have lived your whole life in Sydney, I recommend the tour.

Nick was the best tour guide I've ever had. His passion was evident, his knowledge knew no limits and he welcomed active discussion among our group. Definitely recommending this tour to anyone interested in the architectural history of Sydney!

Excellent morning with Eoghan who is a very good story teller and gave us all such a brilliant overview about Utzon and the Opera House. His knowledge and his passion for this building and its architect were inspiring and I came away with a renewed love and respect for both. This was my second SAW and I am so grateful to these young busy professionals who dedicate their time to explore ideas through architecture with people like me (a non-architect) so that we can learn more and increase our appreciation of this great city. This tour is wonderful and I thoroughly recommend it.

I thoroughly enjoyed SAW's Sydney City tour! Nic was very knowledgeable and eloquent and really made me think of the changing environment we live in and how architecture responds to the topographic, political and social environment. I can't recommend this tour enough!

Eoghan recently led a group of design students including me on an architectural tour of the Sydney Opera House. The tour was fantastic! Eoghan is clearly very passionate about the SOH and imparted his knowledge in great detail and enthusiasm.

I grew up during the SOH construction and like most have always been amazed at the form, the shape and beauty of the SOH. However, until this tour did not understand just how ahead of his time, and how clever an architect Utzon was.

Utzon's talent went well beyond the initial design and drawings of the building, he also pioneered many construction and engineering techniques that makes the SOH an iconic architectural achievement.

Eoghan thanks again for the time and knowledge you generously shared with us.

Architect Eoghan Lewis gave a passionate, intelligent and informative tour of the making of the Sydney Opera House and the protagonists behind it – a fascinating story. I recommend taking this tour.

We attended a very impressive tour of the Opera House from the perspective of Utzon specifically. The guide, Eoghan, was very knowledgeable about the man and his work. I wondered whether it would be accessible for those not already well-versed in architecture, but I think the language was appropriate - certainly the non-architects with us seemed engaged.

Eoghan’s Opera House Tour was among the most informative and personal tours I’ve ever taken. This guy knows his stuff! As a practicing architect, he can talk about the design and construction at a level of detail beyond the capabilities of an “ordinary” tour guide. Yet Eoghan presented everything in a way that engaged everyone.

He also gave fascinating insights into the competition to design the project, the personality of Jorn Utzon, and his troubled dealings with the NSW government.

This tour is definitely focused on the genesis of the Opera House as a building. It’s the perfect complement to the “Backstage Tour” given by the Opera House which covers the inside operations.

I highly recommend this SAW tour and look forward to taking others on future visits.

This is a fascinating tour for people interested in the deeper architectural and social aspects of this incredible building. Although I live in Sydney I had not ever had a chance to look so closely at the House with such an expert guide. Highly recommend this tour.

Had a wonderful tour today led by Eoghan, learning about the history of Sydney's most iconic construction, the Opera House. I had no idea of the personal and political drama surrounding its construction, and the fascinating characters involved. Eoghan is an architect himself and his passion and knowledge of the subject (both technical and historical) makes this tour a must for anyone who wants to dive a bit deeper into the "whys and "how" some decisions (some good, some bad) resulted on what the Opera is now. Next time I'm in Sydney I'll make sure to join another SAW tour!

We absolutely loved this tour! It was super informative yet light. Our guide was an excellent story teller; we were engaged the entire tour that time flew by without us noticing. What’s wonderful about architecture is that it is not isolated, it tells you about history, politics, social trends, public policy… etc. ; so it was a beautiful introduction to the city.

I wish we did more tours with SAW, but we were there only briefly. I would recommend that you plan ahead because at the time we were there they only offered the tour on Saturday morning. I would also recommend you get in touch with them ahead of time to arrange for the non-basic tours. We wish we did the Sydney opera house tour!

Also, at the end of the tour they gave us a mini-guide of places they love and go to as locals in Sydney and that was absolutely wonderful. We had tried a couple of the places mentioned there and loved them. Getting that mini-guide is another good reason to go on a tour early on in your trip so you can have it from the start.

This tour is highly recommended for anyone who loves architecture and design. It was an amazing tour, insightful, motivating and more so inspirational. The tour guide had me captivated with the content, and story telling. It left me wanting more. I''m certainly eager to explore the other tours SAW has to offer. What an excellent tour. Well Done!

Really good tour, I would give them 6 stars if I could. Inspirational, educational and done in a simple but colourful language for anyone to understand and appreciate. If you are interested in any way about how Sydney was designed, its culture and the architectural landscape, the history of the city and its growth, I would recommend doing this tour, even if you are only here for a short visit. I'll be doing some of the other tours.

I will write my appreciation in french.
La visite était extrêmement intéressante d'un point de vue général sur Sydney et également d'un point de vue architectural sur ce nouveau quartier en pleine expansion. A faire et refaire!

I did the bike tour and the Utzon Sydney Opera House Tour. I really enjoyed both sessions. Eoghan is a great guide and his passion for architecture shines through.
