9 To visit this historical landmark of The Rocks I recommend booking ahead. In fact you can only see Suzannah's place if you book a tour via the website or on-site as only a few visitors are allowed at one time due to the size of the housing. But you won't regret it as your guide will tell you the stories of the many residents who once lived there, since Suzannah's mum Mary built it in 1844, as well as the improvements brought to these houses over the years.
The kids loved the old appliances and the anecdotes!
Have been wanting to come and visit for ages finally was able last week. Highly recommend a visit for tourists or Sydneysiders to get a glimpse into our past and the history of The Rocks. The guide Johanna was knowledgeable and passionate and got the kids in our tour group involved. Also check out The Big Dig right across the road!
An amazing snapshot of the history of the rocks. The guide was engaging and informative. The fact that the government supports this great museum experience is wonderful
Make sure to book as the numbers on the tours is limited
Great tour of a small museum and historic place showcasing The Rocks past. Informative tour guide.
It is open to the public about 200 years ago from the early days of Sydney's working class residential architecture. Reservations are required. You can see the simple interiors, wallpaper and floors as they were at the time. It was built about 200 years ago, It is still in the same condition as when it was built. This house is a well preserved home providing insight into what life was like during this era. Working-class family were living in a simple way here that fits their stature.
Such a brilliant example of life in early Australia - tour guide was fabulous and was so interesting to see all the old bits and pieces in the museum shop!
If you're interested in the history of Sydney then this is a good spot to take a free tour. Our tour guide Virginia was lovely, informative and helpful. It was nice to learn the personal history of the previous tenants of this building.
Built in 1844, Susannah place is a well preserved home providing insight into what life was like during this era. Really makes you appreciate the modern ammenities we have today. Tours run frequently, lasting about 1 hour and are free! Came on a weekday and there were about 6 others on our tour. Tour guide was passionate!
