Surfaris Retreat - Crescent Head

I have been at Surfaris Crescent Head a few times, basically for surf retreats and for a wedding I have to say I loved it! The place is beautiful, peaceful, so close to town, the owners are amazing, great surf guides always providing with the best advice and energy for the day, really helpful and relaxed. The food we ate was next level! During the retreat I couldn't wait for meal time every day to enjoy another amazing and delicious meal. I had the best time there and I have a very lovely memories of my staying at surfaris, I can't recommend it enough wether you want to go for a holidays or host your wedding there, you have anything you need there to host all your guest, rooms, a bar, a pool, the beach to surf 3 minutes away, different surf options around depending on winds and also surrounded by nature.

My partner and I are heading to Australia for a month from Belgium. To surprise him for his birthday I found the Holistic Surf & Wellness Retreat on the Surfaris website. It was going to be held from 26 Jan to 29 Jan 2024. I decided to save up and eventually booked it through the website in November 2023. I paid for it and got a confirmation email. I then obviously went ahead with booking domestic flights and booking accommodations in the area around that time. Suddenly it went very quiet on Surfaris' end so I emailed them. No reply. Two weeks later I asked them to reconfirm again because I was worried. They emailed me back saying the retreat got cancelled and I shouldn't have been able to book it in the first place. They reimbursed the amount.

I understand mistakes happen but I did explain to them about the birthday gift, planning our route around the location of the retreat, the flights that had already been booked, all because they confirmed. They replied that there is nothing they can do and they are completely within their rights to cancel for any reason. They also hid behind the fact that it was a third party organising this retreat so they had nothing to with it. No compensation, no solution. Great work guys.

We spent one week at Surfaris with our friends and it was AMAZING! The rooms were great for families and the pool was stunning. Brendon & Xhalia went above and beyond to look after us all with delicious food and cocktails. Highly recommend this place. I can't wait to go back!

Sun up till sundown, there’s no place I’d rather be than back amidst the all time crew at Surfaris. The perfect place to sit back relax and enjoy the all inclusive luxuries of paradise. Take me back!

It's been some time since our wedding in March but we thought it was time to show our appreciation for this awesome venue.

From the get go Brenden and Xahlia were awesome to communicate with understanding our needs and wants for our weekend away wedding with friends and family.

The accommodation and hospitality was incredible by all staff, everyone was super helpful in the lead up to the big day. The food was superb- We can speak on behalf of all our guests that the food was top notch and thoroughly enjoyed.

The general atmosphere of Surfaris, made by both the people and beautiful surroundings, matched us perfectly and we couldn't have imagined our special time in any other way. We and many of our friends and family would love to come back for another awesome weekend away at Surfaris.

A very big and special thanks goes to Brenden and Xahlia for making it so easy and assisting in making our vision of our wedding come to life.

Thank you for also recommending Nick Deman for music, he is incredibly talented and everyone enjoyed listening to and joining in with him on the mic.

Can’t recommend this place enough. I booked the all womens She Babeau beginner surf retreat. The rooms where great, amazing linen, comfy beds. The days were filled with the right amount and chill and surf. The food - INCREDIBLE. The surf coaches were awesome and I left with lots of tips on how to improve, along with video and photo feedback. Highly recommend

I love this place. I recently attended a surf weekend with my 12 year old son and it was amazing. The staff and team took the kids out 8 times to different locations and the level of coaching and support was unreal. The coaches and staff are super passionate about that they do and make sure the kids learn and have a great time. The food is unreal. The drinks selection for the Mums and Dads is on point. We will be back for sure.

We completed a 6 day yoga retreat at Surfaris and absolutely loved it. The staff went over and above to make this a great experience for us, from serving delicious meals and offering great coffee and cocktails to ensuring we didn’t need to do much outside of focusing on yoga. The accommodation is clean and recently renovated.

Wow, this place is astounding. Firstly, the hospitality at Surfaris is on another level. We stayed amidst the recent NSW floods, and what was supposed to be a weekend trip quickly turned into a week-long adventure thanks to Mother Nature. The staff at Surfaris went above and beyond every moment during our extended stay – from upgrading our room so we could be more comfortable to chasing waves with us (once the water cleaned up). Secondly, the food is exceptional. You'd be hardpressed to find a better breakfast / Mexican in Crescent Head. Yeo is a Masterchef – way better than that guy on TV with the gobbler chin. Even if you're not staying at Surfafris, swing past for a feed as you won't regret it. Overall, this place is a vibe and well worth a stay.

Thanks again to Xahlia, Yeo and the staff @ Surfaris. The biggest legends on the mid-north coast. We look forward to another stay soon.

Wording on bookings.com suggested we would have our own bathroom. Also accommodation photos dont match our small room with little privacy.

On the positive side, pleasant outdoor environment, staff friendly and room clean.

Overall $200 a night is a scam and surfaris retreat should instead be advertised and priced as a youth hostel.

The place has very chilled vibe.
The staff were very friendly and pointed us in the direction of great surfing spots. One night they served Mexican food – one of the best tacos I've ever tried. Me and my friend had great time. Thank you

There isn't a bad thing I can say about Surfaris. The food is absolutely incredible (the best by far you can get in Crescent Head), the coffee is next level, the rooms are amazing but above all the staff are unbelievably friendly and professional. We were caught in Crescent Head during the floods and the managers were so hospitable, they looked after us like family. It made our extended stay feel like an extended holiday.

Came for the weekend and ended up extending for the whole week. Weekend away with my partner turned into a 6 day holiday. The rooms were spacious, clean with amazing temperature control. Highly recommend a sunset cocktail before dinner near the pool. Food was incredible from unique Mexican spreads to warm Indian curries on a cold night. The team were excellent in adapting and creating a unique atmosphere to every occasion or weather condition. Can’t wait to book my next trip up here!

This really is a Surfers retreat, even the bathroom doors have surfing pictures on them, and reception has a wax vending machine. So much character, simple living, in the middle of the bush and 2min drive to the nearest beach.

Located within 20min of an enormous variety of surf breaks including the famous crescent head, with knowledgeable hosts.
These same hosts also cook a very delicious Mexican fiesta.
10/10 would go there again!

P.s. I know shared bathrooms are an issue for some, but they were regularly cleaned whilst we were there.

I can't recommend staying here enough! The hospitality, amazing food, clean and comfortable facilities, beautiful gardens and just all round good vibes have made this my #1 choice every time I'm in Crescent Head. My friends and I got stuck in Crescent after the recent floods and we were so looked after in every possible way. Big thank you to the amazing Yoie and Xahlia. We'll be back! Xo

Amenities are clean, grounds are lush and kept looking very presentable.
Linen and towels are fresh.

Perfect holiday location, accommodation hit the spot for our family. Delicious food, space for us all to spread out around the pool after a day at the beach.
