I went to this school from 1975 in year 5 to 1980 in year 10. It was all male students back then. A strange mix, a lot of middle class boys from Carlingford and a fair few from struggling families in the housing commission in neighbouring Dundas Valley and Ermington/Rydalmere. There were also a healthy portion of young men from the St Vincent’s Boys Home, an orphanage in Westmead which included some refugees from Vietnam. The students were generally poor performers. The so-called high achievers were those from the nice homes in Carlingford and a lot of them joined the police force! This shows the academic standard of the place back then, those considered inordinately smart could only qualify for an organisation that required not even average intelligence as entry standard! There were certainly no surgeons or barristers or elite level engineers form my era. Equally there were no stand outs in sport or the arts. I recall playing cricket and rugby league for the school and getting beaten in every game. On some occasions we were defeated over 100 to nil on the football field. The subjects of Maths, Science and English were categorised in classes from 1 through to 4 with the latter being known as the ‘dumb class’. Unsurprisingly, classes 1 and 2 accommodated the Carlingford boys while class 4 was invariably replete with boys from the housing commission and the orphanage. It was simply just accepted that this was the case and the school did little if anything to assist those that were clearly disadvantaged. Another somewhat sad illustration of the school’s awful culture was the yearly school play when I was in year 6. It was a show about Noah’s Ark and all of the parents were invited. I vividly recall that the clean cut boys from Carlingford were given the singing and dancing roles. Their middle class parents were so proud. And again, the housing commission boys and orphans were marginalised and played the part of the animals, their faces covered by cheap plastic lion, tiger and zebra masks. Then there was the case of an Aboriginal boy, all of 10 years old, a ward of the state adopted into a benevolent large Catholic housing commission family, who cowered against a fence during the lunch hour while a growing congregation of students thought it was funny to throw their half eaten sandwiches and pieces of fruit at him while chanting “Abo, Abo”. The playground supervisor shrugged his shoulders and grinned. Western Sydney in the mid 1970’s, I guess. This institution harboured a sad culture of others striving to bring their peers down and celebrating their failure. Its pinnacle of success was mediocrity. I hope the place has improved.

If you're in Year 9 or 10 then this school is literally the best place to be. Camps, excursions, better timetables, formal, peer support and a whole lot more good things about it.

But Year 7 and 8 is so boring. Like Year 8 is so bad, it makes me want to quit. It's extremely scripted and none of the subjects are any good besides Science, Music and Maths.

Some kids here have no manners and that is a shame, plus there are so many areas like the toilets that the school has to improve.

Also the homerooms themselves are great, except for 1. That is Chavoin. It is so bad it makes you want to quit, and I literally feel like quitting after Year 10. They make it more worse than the other homerooms and all the good kids end up in those homerooms, meanwhile you are stuck in Chavoin with no friends and some annoying people.

Don't come here if you want to be in a homeroom, you need good luck for it:)

Anyways, that fatal flaw cost me 5/5 but I wouldn't have ranted if I was in another homeroom

But overall good school would recommend if you're lucky enough to take a risk

The hall has a disco ball for Fortnite dancing and the canteen sells prime for sick Fortnite pro gamers. You can also get a chug jug if you ask nicely from any of the maths teachers, but you have to do a side quest first (tie the princepals shoes together and have them fall over). #megaBoombasticSideye #madlad #profortnitegamer #cranking90s #doublepumping #henchmenarehot

Don't send your kids/children here, kids have been severely harassed on the internet, and bullied in real life as well, the teachers mainly tend to target on the disabled, asians, or any other race, and the teachers don't take any actions when bullying is reported, racism is also very common here, it isnt uncommon to hear racial slurs here, a horrible and terrible school, DONT send your kids here,

My brother goes here and has experienced constant harassment from this one group of boys that can't seem to leave him alone. On multiple occasions he has gotten in trouble for hitting someone in said group of boys, which would be reasonable if it wasn't for the fact that most of the altercations are started by the group of boys - and they seem to get no punishment whatsoever. He has gone to multiple teachers about it but none of the teachers care enough to do anything about it. Truely pathetic school.

I was let in despite making it very clear that I wasn't religious.

The teachers would often complain about me not acting catholic enough or not doing prayer

Bruh, you guys let me in knowing full well I wasn't catholic and now you're complaining that I'm not catholic enough?

It also took the staff over half a year to replace soap that was so old it stank like rotten eggs.but hey, at least we got to watch and analyse Shrek for homework

10/10, beat my expectations of a religious school.

Good school. Future students should consider themselves lucky that a new principal will be gracing them with their presence.

I love St Patrick's Marist College! I have attended for 2 and a half years now and I have enjoyed every second. From the dedicated and considerate teachers to the amazing opportunities both in the classroom and outside, this school has been perfect. All students come from good families so there is zero bullying. I highly recommend this school to any parent who wants their child to succeed in all aspects of their schooling life.

This school is outstanding! Proud to be part of the St Patrick's Marist College school community. Angela Hay is supported by a team of exceptional teachers who give 100% and truly care about each student's progress. There is very little to no bullying at the school as many students come from good families. The school will help you achieve educational excellence. The co-ed school environment prepares students for the real world, beyond high school, where they'll interact with both genders. Highly recommended.

Dont know much about this school but many students have complained about how strict they are on personal presentation, dress code and hair. Not much different from my catholic high school in Perth. Hope either the principal or any teachers remember Felix Lee. He is a famous kpop star now, so hope yall appreciate and recognize their ex-student.
Also i remember i went near this place, at Tara Anglican School For Girls when visiting Parramatta in 2014.
Anyways stan Stray Kids <3

As a parent I'm very disappointed. There are some dedicated teachers but not many. Overall it seems like they only care about religious education and the appearance of the students. Toilets rarely get cleaned though, at least female one. For my second child I seriously consider other schools as St Patrick's Marist is just a joke. The only positive thing for me is that most of the students are from good families and there is very little bullying if any. Also, their concerts are great thanks to the talented kids.

The best school ever Nick Lu is my role model to the Marist roles. Just absolute in disgust of how good a school could be especially when ****** ******* and **** ** are in your class. Absolutely speechless of how amazing this school is.
