Spotlight Birkenhead Pt

Went in looking for a Xmas table cloth, first interaction with shop assistant (oldish lady) came with an attitude "it's over that way those things now go away I am not interested", my interpretation of her attitude shown and spoken. Next shop assistant at front counter was young and much more helpful and informative so probably realised that helps bring customers back in future unlike the oldish shop assistant!
Zero stars to the oldish shop assistant and 6 stars to young assistant!

There are lots of great items. I found they dye I needed for the skort I accidentally bleached in blotches. The young man in the fabric section was exceptionally helpful. I wish all tetail staff were as pleasant and helpful as him.

RUDE STAFF. Third and last time I’m coming here after previous similar experiences. I asked a staff member with curly hair and glasses - Angela I think? If I could see the size of a sewing machine and her immediate response was an angry ‘I’m not going to take one out of the box for you! ’ I didn’t even ask that? I asked if there was one on display!
Asking a simple customer question made her react like I had asked her to sacrifice her dog or something to the gods. Staff need basic courtesy training. Very unhappy.

Nice place to get fabric from, customer service is good and a lot of cute things you can buy there

The sky is very pretty wherever you go, but the prices don't seem to be very cheap. It's a small outlet, so I just looked around. It felt good to ride the bus and see another village while crossing my legs.
The meaning of ‘I have been there’ is significant. ^^;;

It is a great shopping center, after you finish the shopping, have the best view of the river with good food options.

Spotlight in Birkenhead has tonnes of options with so many discounts. You will never get bored while you are here. Always find what comes looking for.

Didn’t want to leave a Karen review but here I am.
Asked a staff member for the price of an item with no label and she told me it was likely discounted because of the quality being lesser compared to other similar items. Told me to go to the counter with a barcode for the discounted price. It scanned as full price and I explained to the cashier lady what the first staff member told me - but item was still full price. Cashier checked with a third lady who confirmed it was full price and it was only specific colours which were discounted.

Would be good for items to be correctly labelled and for all staff to be on the same page. Cashier lady had a rude tone.

Not the best store as it is small, cramped and there's not enough staff. Takes ages to get a price check because there isn't a working barcode reader. Store is quite disorganised

I wanted to leave a review to let spotlight know that the person at the fabric counter named Elizabeth is amazing: D Elizabeth was very kind and helped my mother and I with many things, walking around the entire store to help us.she had a lot of knowledge about different things regarding sewing and sewing machines as well as spotlight store stuff such as warranty regarding the sewing machines and the sales on at the time.

As an autistic person, I found Elizabeth quite calming and not overwhelming and I felt safe enough to talk with her about sewing and craft.

Elizabeth did an amazing job and I felt very happy and satisfied with my visit to spotlight thanks to her.

Nice place, just a bit expensive but you can find everything for your handicrafts and decorations Especially this one I find bigger, and the staff is nice and kind

One star is too many for Spotlights Made to Measure blinds. After cancelling the first appointment to measure the window they made it two weeks later. The blinds were measured and then I had to wait two months for the blinds to be installed. When they were installed one of blinds was the wrong size, the installer wrote a report I waited a further 3 weeks acknowledging their mistake. I was then told another 4 weeks for the supplier to make the new blinds, I called again and nothing had happened, they had lost the blind that was the wrong size, which the supplier had been waiting for. It then tool a further 6 weeks to receive it and again the cord was on the wrong side and the blind was again the wrong size. I'm fed up and have asked for a refund. This company is completely incompetent and it is totally unacceptable to wait 6 months to get three blinds

Imagine anything about art and craft and you could find it at Spotlight. Great stuff. Also, plenty of options for kids craft supplies!
I got a variety of knitting yarn and needles for my mother in law - all in different colours, sizes, weight and thickness.
I have even got home decor and utility items from here and have been satisfied with the quality.
There is a car park available but we preffered street parking nearby.

Many household and sewing items could be found here. There were also many varieties of curtains, hooks, runners, bolts in the store. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Lovely place to shop. I couldn't find Spotlight fabrics store for a while. When I found it, it reminded me of the train station in Harry Potter with the something and a 1/2 platform. Suggestion: Spotlight Sign on level 2 is better if displayed in red, white and blue, not gold and black. Loved the store though.

I prefer to shop in a small business in that case.

Inconvenient for a mum with a pram to climb two flight of stairs to get into the store when their lift is out of order. Also found the store too cramped

Awful service. Useless man who served me spoke to 3 other people on phone while making a mess of my $66 material. Bought 2 pieces of fabric to make curtains. Started to make them today. First piece is unevenly cut, 5cm longer on one side. Looks like a child had cut it. Got on to second piece, supposed to be the same length as the first. Actually 7cm shorter. Should have checked before starting, but now have to go back to first one, unpick the hem and cut it to shorter length. If Spotlight are going to sell fabrics they need to train their staff in the basics.

Very poor experience. Section head offered very poor advice if any and passed us onto the apprentice who tried hard to assist. The person in charge didn't even offer to measure up material that was required. Got what my 85 year old mother wanted in the end but overall experience was very frustrating and indignant and abysmal.

Plenty of parking-inside 3 hrs free, outside same, longer on side streets. Not busy too much to say crowded, but depends!
If you are bored men or women, go out and sit by the bay, enjoy nice view and fresh air!
