I've always wanted to make a fine box. Paul's approach helped me build on my skills to do this. Can't wait to cut it open next week

Been coming here since the start of 2020 and I love this place. The guys are super knowledgeable and supportive and cater to all levels. I'm a huge dumb dumb and super terrible at woodworking but they help me out a lot and never make me feel bad. One day I'll achieve all my woodworking dreams.

I’ve been apart of the Saturday morning class for a year now and look forward to it each week! The Saturday team are great (Paul, Tim and Brendan) - they are experienced woodworkers with bucketloads of patience and skill to support people at all levels. The warehouse itself is also quite an amazing environment, filled with all the machinery and hand tools, as well as people running their woodworking businesses.
I highly recommend the term courses, this is a hobby that I’m happy I pursued:)

This is a great place to learn woodworking as Paul focuses on working with hand tools. There are set projects you work on and with each you learn to use different tools and the right technique. If you want to give woodworking a go then I would recommend Splinter Workshop for sure.

Great place to learn about the basics, Paul has a good approach in place which makes learning about the skills and tools very interesting and engaging.

What an incredible place to learn woodcraft. As a novice, what I found most appealing about the term classes was that it caters to all skill levels and experience. The recommended/prescribed projects, which progressively increase in difficulty, help you learn the fundamental skills required to be a good woodworker. Paul, Brendan and Tim are all wood wizards, and offer their guidance and knowledge throughout the classes. The expertise combined with access to all the wood, tools and machinery a woodworker could ever ask for, make it an incredible environment to learn the woodworking arts.

After putting off attending a woodworking course for a number of years, I finally decided to jump in. I couldn't find a whole lot of options out there but Splinters did come up and I liked the fact that they had 2 instructors to 8 students. The price I thought was also quite reasonable for what you get.

I've nearly finished the 1st term course now and can happily say I've learnt a great deal already, in particular in areas that I had never even thought about. I was expecting to learn about using certain hand tools properly and while that has happened, I've also learnt about marking out work and using light to help fine tune shapes much better than what I've done in the past.

The atmosphere is very relaxed and there's no pressure to keep up with your peers. There are students at all levels of skill and I find it encouraging working along side others who are working on more complex pieces and techniques. The instructors, however, will encourage you to do the best work you can and I've found their advice and guidance really helpful.

After completing two terms at Splinter Workshop so far I can highly recommend these classes if you're interested in learning the thoughtful craft of woodworking. You'll find the teachers really know their stuff, and their enthusiasm for the love of tools will definitely rub off. I've made some lovely things and I can see my handful of skills learnt so far getting better with each project, as the class plan is really well thought out so the skills and knowledge build naturally.
Take you're time, use all of your senses and you'll surprise yourself - promise.
