Do not do business with spectrum! Notorious property spruiker Hugh Ochremienko worked for them. I knew nothing about property investing when Hugh came to my Battalion in Townsville in 2007. I thought Spectrum was trustworthy because he was let on base and the whole company was directed by senior rank to attend his brief. He came just after my unit had returned from a middle east deployment (conveniently) and we had money to spend. He suggested I buy a house in Peregian Springs, QLD, which is still very negatively geared to this day and is worth the same as it was back in 2008. Reid Swift then suggested to me that I get a unit in Southport, QLD. It has lost about 58K in value! Also very negatively geared forcing me to spend thousands or sell at a loss. Because I trusted spectrum, I am out of pocket nearly 5K a year, every year. Both properties I bought through spectrum are duds. I won't say that they deliberately sold me duds, but they did take advantage of my ignorance of property investing, which is pretty much the same thing, because I turned to them believing they were professionals who would honestly provide me a well performing investment.
