Spears Cafe

Had a delicious toasted sandwich today, sadly the coffee I ordered with my toasted sandwich never turned up. When I went to pay the bill - I pointed out I didn’t receive the coffee so I should not be charged for it, but the cashier had already rung the charge up. The manager offered to give me the coffee as takeaway, but no acknowledgment or “sorry “ was offered, I just had to repeat I did not want the coffee as takeaway. Then the manager, who did seem a bit annoyed had to help the cashier void the charge. Things happen in hospitality and I don’t think that some form of acknowledgment of an issue is an unreasonable expectation on my part. So many staff were working, very few customers eating in. Really disappointed that with such a large amount of coffee shops in Richmond, I chose this coffee shop and was made to feel so uncomfortable, for not wanting to pay for a takeaway coffee that I had expected to enjoy with a toasted sandwich as an eat in option.

My friend order a latte, and I ordered a milkshake. It is.odd, to see one presented in a glass and on a nice saucer, whereas I got a plastic container with said milkshake. We were seated, not takeaway.

Sadly gone downhill since new owners who are not even in the state. Terrible food with young people serving so no accountability. Never again.

My initial experience at this shopping centre was marked by excitement as I embarked on my first visit. My purpose was simple yet delightful – to indulge in the delectable pastries showcased at the Cafe, and to have them for a takeaway. Regrettably, my enthusiasm was met with disappointment. Despite standing patiently, eagerly waiting to be served, my presence seemed to be invisible to the staff. The Cafe, with its relatively tranquil ambiance, housed three servers stationed behind the counter. Our eyes met, but alas, my attempts at engagement were met with silence. As much as I appreciate the allure of these pastries, I hold a steadfast principle of not endorsing subpar service. Consequently, I opted to take my leave, denying them the opportunity to win me over.

Beautiful little cafe. Great spot for lunch. I had the fish and chips it was delicious! Service was quick and Staff were friendly. Added bonus there is a little playground for the little ones. Highly recommend.

Poor service, waited ages to be served. Sat and watched every other customer who came in after us get service, in the end went to the counter to place an order only to be told to sit and wait for someone to take our order.

$20 for a chicken salad sandwich is criminal!
It's good, but it certainly isn't $20 good, and on weekends the quality of the food and service drops significantly and it becomes a mediocre sandwich with mediocre service.

Honestly disappointed this cafe is slow and for a time id consider a rush hour the store was empty, took over 15 minutes to get a milkshake, shake and a tea. While standing there I watched a work eat and then proceeded to make drinks without washing her hands when the milkshake finally came out it was a nice cold touch but once we took a few sips it was warm, the tea was tasteless, we complained about the milkshake then we got a tea replacement the manager is very judgemental tho apologizing she seemed very unprofessional and kinda angered by our request to re make or get another drink. The excuse for the warmth was that they had no ice cream but by watching the girl (previously mentioned) we watched her open a new thing of ice cream, don't recommend.

I ordered the power bowl which comes with fruit they didn't list what type of fruit the bowl came with they gave me my food which had grapes I said I was allergic and the manager came and had a go at me because they had to make it again worst place ever!

Ordered 2 toasted ham and cheese sandwiches and 2 cups cappuccino instead received 2 toasted chicken and cheese sandwiches and 2 huge mugs of coffee which my elderly mother had difficulty handling. The manager was made aware however she did not approach us.

Most slowest and badly organised Cafe ever.
The lady who was meant to be making the coffee was too busy being spoken to by each staff member and managing them, I waited 10 minutes for a take away coffee. The marketplace got rid of Gloria's and Soul origin. Don't go here. There's plenty of others in Richmond.

Recommend 100%! Really lovely and friendly atmosphere and great location for the kids to play! Thank you again!

Paid for a coffee only to have the staff knock it over as they placed it on the table, she apologised but I had to pay for another coffee instead of them replacing their staffs mistake.

Sometimes it takes over 10 mins to get your take away coffee. The service to take your order is always quick but when you only have a 10 minute break waiting to receive your coffee takes the rest of your break up.

Today my mum and myself with a friend went to spears and had spent $100 for tea, coffee and juice and breakfast. Drinks have always been really good I’ve had no issues with that but the food is just awful. I don’t know if they have changed chefs or just that the standards have lowered but was definitely such a disappointment especially when you pay so much money you expect good quality. Let’s just say we left half of our food and went home feeling very unwell. I do hope they can go back to how good they use to be as we really do enjoy coming to this cafe.

Went for lunch with my mum, we have been there before and the food was great, but this time we were very disappointed. We order the Seafood basket to share and it was over cooked and tasteless. Not sure if the prawns even existed, they were about the size of a 50cent piece, fish bites 2 tiny pieces and 1 scallop. We tried to pay using our dine vouchers but could not as the phone was not working, what is the point of even offering this. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Ordered a coffee that was knocked over by a toddler before I even had a chance to have a sip, when I explained my plight to the staff, they were unsympathetic and said they couldn’t give away a free coffee and that I’d have to pay for it again.

First time here today and I love the customer service… they are all so friendly and respectful the owner should be so proud. The food is nice too so that’s a bonus.
