Shire Family Medical reviews
11Inexperienced doctors. There is another centre in Sutherland which is far better than this, with doctors with expertise. So I would not recommend this centre
Have been seeing the same doctor for 40 years. The care and insight given by this practice is amazing.
Jo was extremely helpful and Nurse Jackie was wonderful with both of our children today.
It was a great service, highly recommend.
When I book an appointment I expect to see a doctor within 15 minutes of the scheduled time, not 1 hour after.
I had my first Pfizer vaccine at the practice yesterday. I would like to send a big Thankyou to all the staff who looked after me before and after my vaccine. I won't be as anxious when I receive the second jab in a few weeks.time. I highly recommend this practice for the vaccine.the care and attention I received from Dr Anslow and the nursing staff was amazing.
The practice has been professional, flexible and accommodating, especially during the difficulties of the COVID pandemic. They have great protocols which is reassuring for patients. I am thankful for the care I have received.
EDIT.
Since seeing the reply to my comment I have edited to add that the receptionist DID NOT ask me to ring before I left home to attend the appointment! I actually said to the receptionist if they minded if I rang them in advance to double check if they are running on time or not! I really don't appreciate you twisting what occurred, especially since the practice manager called me and we spoke about what happened. This is really disappointing.
I previously only had positive things to say about Shire Family Medical, but after today I can no longer say that. My 1 year old is sick, so because I care about her wellbeing, I book her in to see whatever doctor was available. I explained her symptoms over the phone (runny nose and cough during the night) and they book her in for 11: 30am which is during the timeframe that they will see unwell patients. I turn up at 11: 30am and call the reception as instructed to let them know we are here and waiting outside.they say they are running late by 10 to 15 mins and to keep waiting (their policy is for you to wait in your car until your appointment, but as if a 1 year old is content to sit in the car patiently and wait). After waiting for half an hour, the receptionist calls me and asks what my child's symptoms are again. I give them the same info as I did previously.the receptionist put me on hold 3 times to go back and forth asking me corona virus questions (we havent been to VIC or overseas or in contact with anyone with COVID, we have just been staying at home). She then proceeds to tell me that the doctor needs to go to a nursing home after our appointment to see a patient, so she now wont be able to see my daughter because of her symptoms. This other patient did not have an appointment, and is made the priority over a sick child. I dont understand how it is acceptable to turn away a sick baby? ! I did the right thing, advised her symptoms ahead of time, only to be shot down because this practice only has one doctor working. I expressed how angry I was to the receptionist because we had already been waiting outside for 30 mins and would potentially have to wait for ages for the doctor to return from a patient visit (they could have mentioned this issue before we waited 30 minutes outside). I was then chastised by the receptionist that proceeded to tell me that "I should have called before leaving home to check that the doctor was running on time". How is that acceptable? ! And how would that have solved the issue of the doctor now deciding to not see my 1 year old? ! We still would have turned up and then would have been told that my sick baby is not a priority.
Always outstanding service deserving of 5 stars. Also the practice is always so clean and inviting. I have seen every Dr in the practice and have found them all to be very friendly professional and most obliging.
I highly recommend Shire Family Medical
My 3 year old son was on life support at 8 months old, following from that I started to use shire family practise, on a regular weekly basis, dr Melissa Phyllis is friendly and very professional funny and makes me laugh. Dr Gary Franks is professional and gives such good thorough advice, every technique I have used of his has worked in making my sons health better, I love that all the staff here are so friendly and warm it’s a wonderful practice and I’m so happy with there quality standards. I recommend this practise especially if your child has high medical needs.
My family and I have been coming here for the last few years. My infant twins, one of whom has severe cerebral palsy, is always treated with respect and kindness by all of the staff. Dr Phillis is clinically astute, explains things in detail whilst also at a good pace and is easy to trust.
My partner used these guys for her anti natal. The female she originally booked in with now longer offers this care, even though on the website it said she does. Then the male doctor who does didn't fill in a form that he was supposed to. Pretty lousy experience for us - better off at just a regular medical centre
