Loved this restaurant, service is really good and food is excellent. I tried the green tea soba (cold) with vegetable tempura and the grilled teriyaki chicken. Food was well prepared and the presentation was immaculate. It's a small and quiet venue which is nice and they have additional seating upstairs. We were able to walk in without a booking on a Monday night. It's close to the bus stop. They have clean toilet facilities. They didn't have the grilled kingfish available so I'll be back to try that and their sashimi and sushi.

The best! Omakase is so yummy and varied:) have been multiple times, can't pick a favourite. From the sashimi platter.barasushi to the unagi don. Monk fish foie gras and even the spinach. Yummmm

Small place but pretty comfy. Taste wise, average. The grills are pretty good, recommend the udon noodle. Not recommend the wasabi taro - l love wasabi myself but that’s way way way too strong. Plenty of street parking right outside the restaurant.

Very expensive meal for what can only be described as an average Japanese meal served in the atmosphere of a very outdated doctors surgery. Staff were perfectly polite and food was adequate but food and drinks were exorbitantly priced and decor was painfully dated and worn with no vibe.

The environment in the store is very good, the selection is diverse, the ingredients are fresh, and the taste is very good. There are many wines to choose from, and the variety is rich. The service was good, water was added promptly and plates were collected. The boss is very nice, he chased after things and returned them to us if he forgot something, thank you very much. There is plenty of street parking.

Could not fault any of the meals we ordered. Grilled meats were flavourful and tender, sashimi was fresh. Potentially the most delicious unagi-ju I've tried in Sydney! Yes the price is not cheap, but everything was made to an excellent standard.

This is definitely a place to go for yummy traditional japanese restaurant with seafood focus. If you like your seafood then you cannot miss this place. Some of their dishes reminded us of the kaiseki dinner experience we had in kyoto.

Book early to avoid disappointment as this place is usually booked out.

We love the following dishes
Wasabi taro
Monk fish liver with ponzu
Agedashi tofu
Barra sushi
Salted grilled salmon belly
Octopus karaage
Sea urchin
Deep fried soft shell crab
Sake steam bar cod head
Kingfish simmered with sweet sake and soy sauce

Very authentic Japanese and the Omakase set menu is very reasonable at $150 with so much food that we were so full at the end. The sashimi is fresh and the barasushi is unique to this restaurant. This Japanese restaurant has been around for a long time and I have visited this place back in 2006 and the standard is still as good. Don't expect the omakase experience that is with a chef serving you sushi and sashimi - this is more like an authentic Japanese family restaurant choosing their best dishes out of their menu to serve you. Both me and my friend were very satisfied after the Omakase set menu with Yuzu wine which is very tasty and refreshing

The place continue to be authentic Japanese and provide you with the traditional atmosphere you so crave for. The food has maintained the high quality you expect from a high end Japanese restaurant. I an so glad they survived through covid and still operating. It is my goto place if I want to host my family and friends for celebrations.

Worst Japanese restaurant l have ever been to, the food was not fresh, the service was slow & staff are very rude & it was expensive.
Never again! Good luck & hope you don’t get food poisoning if you waste your time going here!

My favourite Japanese restaurant of all time and a regular family haunt. Authentic basics on their main menu, but also a large variety of unusual items on the menu that I struggle to find elsewhere. The daily specials menu ever changing. Their preparation of dishes is simple, yet divine, allowing natural flavors of the food to shine. It could be deemed expensive in terms of Japanese restaurants, however, I feel this is a fair reflection of the unbeaten and exceptional quality and freshness of the food.
The staff are always welcoming, attentive, polite and relaxed. It’s a pleasure to support their business.

Sashimi was real good. Tempura prawn was excellent. Grilled fish head was not very good. Yakitori was delicious. Overall it was authentic Japanese cuisine.

Having lived in Japan for a long time. I can vouch that this is the real deal. Best Japanese that I’ve had since coming back and very authentic. A couple of things though, if you eat here, go for the fish. That’s there specialty. I recommend the sashimi. It’s not so cheap but did feel worth it. Also you’ll need to book. It’s also quite local and not fancy as per say but I think that adds to its charm. Recommended.

Great food but most of all I was super impressed with the very personal and thoughtful service from the owners. Very much a small family run business. Would go again!

A homely slice of japan in the heart of the sydney.
I could rave about the immaculate presentation, quality of the seafood and deliciously authentic dishes (particularly the whole fried lemon sole, which is so crispy even the bones make for a cheeky senbei like snack), but i wont.
All i have to say is: *SAKE SLUSHY*

Been dining at the long standing Japanese restaurant in Crows Nest for many mnay years. It's a traditional Japanese restaurant. Their sashimi are always above par compared to the rest of Sydney. Always fresh and a more thicker slice. Occasionally, thorough the years, and depending on the fish, they also have the very thinly sliced as well. Grilled kingfish head is also perfect, not too salty and also recommend their tempura, bara sushi, agadashi tofu and grilled ox tongue. The service has always been great here as well - although it may be difficult to book sometimes - especially after covid. Have always recommended this place and will continue to recommend to those who like their sashimi!
