Great location helpful staff. At breakfast, the supply of condiments needs addressing. The bulk jars of jam, peanut, Nutella etc doesn't work with a knife. Either have a spoon or individual serves. The in-house parking was a little high, but very good, and I will use it again. The best thing about the shower was the labels on the shampoo conditioner and body wash. Large contrasted labels are white on black. I don't wear my glasses in the shower and could read what each was. Well done.

Incredible location and views of the Port. The rooms were a little dated would be my only criticism, but the service was excellent

Sensational hotel. Very clean, modern facilities and large rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location right on the river! Highly recommend this place!

Great Hotel in a good spot. We stayed in a King Suite with the Harbour View. The rooms were quiet and it was great to be able to just sit and watch the ships come and go. The hotel is on the Riverfront promenade, so there's plenty of places to go walking and lots of restaurants nearby. We took our afternoon walk up to Cooks Hill every day to get some artisanal gelato. A great stay overall.

During school holiday period, there were 2 disappointments:
- Upon returning to my room on the evening of 29th September 2023, I was dismayed to discover that my room had not been made up. This experience was both surprising and disheartening, as it fell short of the high standards of cleanliness and hospitality that I have come to expect from Rydges Newcastle.
- After checking out of the room, I was wrongly charged full amount of every single items in the Mini bar. Although I was refunded right away, it still showed unpleasant experience for disorganisation.
- My email to GM was not acknowledged, so after 15 days I still have not received a response from the organisation with the incidence.

Called this morning to book a room and lady on phone was really rude. Straight away she told me that pricing is very expensive at the moment, trying to convince me not to book - seemed like she didn't want to speak to me at all, however I persisted and she told me to go online to book. Will be booking somewhere else.

Pros: Great location, courteous staff, good food and drinks with inexpensive prices. Clean hotel, fast wifi. Overall, pleasant stay.

Cons: All smart features of TV deactivated. You have to pay 35 bucks a day for watching movies and this is just a horrible gimmick for money making even after paying close to $300 a night. Can’t even cast netflix through phone even with our own casting device as everything is locked. Stayed at many great hotels before but never seen this. No microwave even in suite so can’t heat food. Very dim to negligible lights in the rooms. Only two table lamps and leds in the bedroom.

Great place to stay, would stay here again. Nice long pool, great for kids. Staff very friendly and helpful. Downside is being woken up in the middle of the night by ships horns leaving port. But hey, what should one expect, it's Newcastle.

It was just okay as it’s getting tired and room had chipped furniture, a black stain on my bed sheets, a sagging bed. Food was average for the price.service is meh. Forty dollar steak no cutlery for example. No papers in the morning. Just tired tired tired. Meant to come for a rejuvenating break. Should have stayed at home

The staff here are wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. It was amazing to look out on the Harbor at night and wake up to the the beautiful view and sound of water lapping outside our suite balconies. Lovely all around visit spent here.

I own a disability company and brought clients up for Australia Day. The Staff were amazing so friendly and accomodating. Food was lovely. And it was so clean. We went to the restaurant and I would definitely recommend this place.

This hidden hotel is in a wonderful location on the boardwalk.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable.
The restaurant, with a limited menu, is five stars. Limited just means the quality and the service are enhanced.
The views are beautiful. You can watch Tug Boats guiding in a ship, the ferry moving across the river and wildlife taking advantage of the clean environment.
Enjoy your stay.

We booked for a Christmas trip at Rydges Newcastle, the location was great and the king suite was was just as described on the website. All the little things the hotel had prepared for Christmas definitely made our stay more pleasant and we were overwhelmed by the generosity of the hotel for the little gifts they had for the kids. I must especially thank their restaurant team for putting so much effort to get our Christmas dinner sorted so that we could enjoy a very nice and delightful Christmas dinner at the hotel. Definitely recommended!

I thought it’s very expensive for what it is. It’s a great location and view but the room is a little tattered with chipped furniture and worn soft furnishings. Don’t bother booking direct since you’ll get the worst room anyway so you might as well give someone a job at a rip off booking service. They put us, one of whom is mobility impaired, in room 230. A 100 metre walk from the lift. If your room number is more than 15 on the floor you are in for a long walk. More than 20 is a very long walk. It’s a fault i thought in the design of the hotel. You can get more exercise in the “water saver” shower, running around to get wet.

We trekked to the dining room for breakfast, which was adequate and staff friendly but were charged more than we should have been. In the end I thought “keep the money I just want to get out”. I know this contrasts with other people’s experiences but for me I won’t be coming back.

Good location, could be bit cleaner (saw few spiders between curtains), friendly staff, room service is quick, pool is really good for kids. Get harbour view it's worth it. Didn't have parking but they did provide alternative secure parking across the street $19 per day. Recommended

Stayed over the weekend with the Mrs. First time for me in Newcastle. Room was great. We really enjoyed the spa bath. Parking was originally a worry because of a lack of street parking but they have a place to put your car so that was great. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. Many thanks Rydges!

Rydges is in a great location. And if you get a waterside room it has a beautiful view. The rooms are a bit dated and the tv blocks the use of personal hard drives. Trying to force you to spend a fortune on their movies. Food and service were very decent. Not a bad stay.

Wonderful stay at the Rydges Newcastle. Check in was extremely simple and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The pool is large and has ample seating around the edge.
The hotel is located on the foreshore and has multiple (incredible) restaurants near by. I highly recommend The Kingfish for seafood! The shops and beach are all in walking distance. It’s a good walk out to the end of the break-wall and a great way to start the day with a coffee in hand. There are constant international cargo ships coming and going which is fascinating to watch.

Great hotel with pretty good quality rooms. Staff really good and the rooms that face the water have pretty spectacular views of the ships coming in & out of Newcastle harbour. Great location to have a walk along the boardwalk.
