Used Veterinary services for review/2nd opinion of a puppy. After consultation puppy booked in for surgery a week later. A formalised quote/estimation and final payment came in a quarter of the price quoted verbally from another Veterinary service.

The Drs/Vets/Nuses where very informative, helpful and caring. The surgery went well and two follow-up reviews were positive with puppy cleared to go home.

Highly recommend the RSPCA VETERINARY SERVICE.

The dog we called about a day prior to coming the 2 hours drive to collect had been sent off to Coffs Harbour. The experience was unpleasant and communication from staff was extremely poor. It felt like a pound not a shelter. Would never consider adopting from there again.

All the vets, nurses and admin staff are wonderful. Always have time to calm down the anxious pet parent and the utmost care for your furbaby.

I adopted a bird from them, the staff sent me photos of the bird beforehand, I had to travel to this place from Sydney, so they put a hold on her. It took me less than 10 minutes to pick the bird. Whole process was fairly easy and quick. Thanks for your help RSPCA.

The staff are amazing and caring. The vet hospital I highly recommend and know that they are doing. My furbabies will always come here from now on.

These people were amazing when I had to put my best friend to sleep. They took paw prints and nose print after he had passed.

The staff are amazing, it is great to see how caring they all are. When we adopted our dog, who was one of the long stayers, everyone there came to say good bye to her. Thank you for caring for all creatures great and small.

Im totally angry with rspca hunter vet they spoke to a friend who's family pets were surrendered due to no fault of there own, and were told at one point, that the two cats aged approx 16 and other 14, the16 yr old was in good spirits and could be rehomed but the 14yr had behavioural issues, and the cost would be so expensive to train, this was close too 2 weeks ago, when they stated this, now they stated that the older one was euthanased, and the one that had behavioural problems is now purring and being adorable, and this cat will be assesed end of the week to see if any change will occur, Just unimaginably can't be trusted whatsoever with any animal in there care, just horrible story and for these pets well too late RSPCA have gone ahead and done the unimagible, how can they justify which pet gets euthanased and which one doesn't, sorry and sad how this organisation justifies its own existence.

My dog is always happy to enter RSPCA and even happier to leave after his needles and a couple treats for being a good boy as usual. Staff are always friendly and treat animals with kindness and care

I recently came to have 2 2 week old kittens who appeared to be abandoned by their mother. I made the choice to hand rear them myself and when I was struggling with feedings I contacted these guys and went straight to see them. The girl at the veterinary clinic was literally amazing while I was a blubbering mess. She gave me so much advice and when I returned home we were back to feeding as normal with a better insight of what was to come on the journey. I couldn't thank her enough for the support and honesty she gave. Thank you again!

Went to collect a pigeon that I had seen online. Lovely friendly team. I avoided most enclosures because I get emotional seeing animals without homes. Birds had a wonderful huge avery and all seemed very well looked after.

Too fussy and superior, at times I wonder if they really want to part with the animals and help them find a new home. There may be awful humans out there in society but those coming to you for a pet just want to give them a home and not be judged by you. Instead of being able to give one of them a forever home with me they are still stuck in your cage. Shame on you

Rang up about my 7week old kitten and was turned away saying they were full and couldn't see my kitten for an emergency. Turned out she needed surgery that was $2000 thankfully my local vet took her in right away and had her in surgery the next day. Not happy with the receptionists at all to say the least

Just gotta say that the staff at the Rutherford vet hospital have been absolutely beautiful and so so helpful. My cat needed a routine hernia repair and I was quoted nearly 3k to have it fixed, I thank god for these guys because they were able to do his surgery for a lot less and have been more than helpful answering my questions and concerns as a worried fur mother. They are just beautiful and you can feel the love and care that they have for animals. This is the second time that they have helped me out of a really sticky situation and I will never have anything but positive words to say about my experiences with the Rspca. Thank god for these absolute angels.

We had to say goodbye to our old Tom. I was so impressed with the beautiful young vet, who went out of her way to do all she could for us. You could see the compassion of this lovely young lady. The staff were amazing. At a time when everyone's off sick, they made room for us, so our boy wouldn't suffer. They also charged us $200 cheaper than other quotes I got from other vets. I was so Impressed with the attitude and care we were treated with at such a hard time. Everyone there that day were amazing and we can't thank them enough. 100% recommend Rutherford RSPCA. Would like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts.

Only gave five stars because that's as high as the ratings go.

Having been looking for a new dog for many weeks and being constantly frustrated by local, privately run shelters we turned to the RSPCA in Sydney.

All the RSPCAs are linked so after a few clicks we found ourselves looking at a wonderful two-year old Staffy x Something in Newcastle.

We called the Hunter shelter a couple of times to discuss this dog's situation - the staff were very helpful on the phone and we got a good feeling from them.

So we made the trip up the road with the family (including existing dog) in tow and on a Saturday morning found the shelter was well staffed by volunteers, clean, didn't smell, modern runs, everything was well maintained, all the volunteers were professional and competent.

I saw the volunteers rotating dogs through different runs and interacting with them all the time. There is a vet on site and what looked like a veterinary hospital. There was plenty of space for the animals to run and plenty of areas to meet them away from other dogs.

They also have cats at the shelter although I didn't see any as that's not what I was after.

A volunteer spent at least an hour with us discussing the dog and watching the interaction between our current dog and (what would shortly become) our new one. There was no push to palm off the dog - they were genuinely interested in the dog's welfare but I suppose maintained an element of realism which was missing from our private-pound experiences.

When we took the dog away several of the volunteers came and said goodbye to her which spoke to me about the volunteer's interest in the animals.

I most certainly would recommend anyone looking for a new cat or dog checks out the RSPCA generally - and particularly the Hunter Shelter!
