Rockdale Library reviews
57Rockdale Library was my 2nd time coming here because the novel books were very interesting to read about the graphic design for the Marvel characters. The library has stairs for people to study or read books. I definitely would recommend going there again.
Good library and helpful staff. Downside, toilets are filthy. I have been twice and used the toilet twice and it looked like it’s cleaned weekly or fortnightly.
The place is the same and I'm glad it hasn't changed ever since we had a nice time that I read a novel manga called Fire Force which you know me:) anyway it has nice two level floors at least from what I know so again nice place to read.
Plenty of reading books for young children. Also recommend their children's programs, particular the school holiday activities.
I love this library.
A particular shout out to a few features:
The tasteful design of the stairs, light features, and furniture. The curves are lovely and integrate the design of the whole building together.
They have great workshops of all kinds!
The librarians are approachable, knowledgeable, and speak a variety of languages.
They have a lot of community language books and resources, including some for kids and babies. There's no time like the present to start your community language literacy experiences at home with the little ones The German and Spanish sections have some fun board books.
They also have awesome, engaging baby and kid classes. Rhyme Time here is quite good, though busy. You can also borrow the Rhyme Time book here if you're a keener.
When will we have Rhyme Time in community languages? !
For any community language sceptics: With community language support systems, it's quite important to provide resources and supports from end to end (i.e, for young children, or whenever people might be beginning their community language journey, on to proficient adults). Some libraries or resource centres only provide books for adults and perhaps only a narrow range. This proposes community languages as a dying fad as they are not offered to younger readers. This community and indeed Australia has a unique rich abundance of community language diversity, but if we don't provide the support for people to maintain this linguistic wealth right from beginner learner right into proficient language user, generator, and appreciator, that abundance will dry up and blow away on the wind. That would be sad. It's thanks to libraries like Rockdale library that this isn't happening as fast as it could be. If Rockdale library starts providing more workshops and in person supports in community languages, this will also help to stem the tide and fortify and revitalise the language communities of Bayside for generations to come.
The staff in the local studies section were helpful beyond their duties- again. Well done.
We went to certify some documents today. The staff were helpful. Raj, who certified our documents, was thorough and professional. Thank you for the great service
I like Kogarah Library better. I'd give it (Rockdale Library) 3.5 stars
I don't understand why the building designer or planner thought it was a good idea to design how this space is. There is a lack of restrooms (only 2 single restrooms on the first level, one is ambulant + has a nappy change table and a child toilet inside), I think mens restrooms might be on second? Not sure. I honestly much prefer the original library layout.even though it was alot smaller, it just made more sense for some reason.
There is not as much study/ individual seating and space that supports just individual/ quiet focus work here. There is a lack of desk-chair seating with access to a powerpoint, more lower coffee tables and seats (as someone credibly criticised earlier). For some reason the space in here conduces noise.
Always, I really hate how theres an entry/exit door for the Bayside council office workers on the second level so basically there's alot of the time an ongoing traffic and you can continuously hear open and closing door sounds.
I guess I give it points that it is a community space and now that it's finally back to opening til 8pm. FINALLY.
Noisy library. They usually have some events for children which is fine. But it's right at the center of the library and the noise propagates throughout the whole library.
I think this library is only good for weekday if you want to study in quiet.
During weekend it's a childcare Centre. Too many kids playing around
Always impressed that the staff are helpful and friendly here. Able to book quiet rooms for 2 hours.

Bratty kids screaming constantly. Do not go here if you want to study. Not a library, it is a childcare centre.
Conveniently located.friendly and helpful staff.large selection and good layout.well worth a visit at any time
Great selection of books.staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.great place to go, read and garner knowledge. Open 7 days.check times
A good afternoon in peace. Free internet. Can download Netflix with ease. Use computer, get silence, borrow books, good selection of books, friendly staff and services.
Good computers and facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice and quiet for reading, studying etc.
Best library with great variety and it's 2 levels and has every book you either need come and see for yourself it's by far the best and cleanliness library in my opinion.
This library used to open till 8pm. It was a great place to come and read books after work. Very disappointed to see the close time change to 5pm now. And it only opens half day on Sunday. Not much options for a person who works fulltime.
