Riverwood Community Centre reviews
20They do good work for the community, including the groups for young people living in the Riverwood Estate. Friendly and accessible staff. And the park next door is nice. Skate park is good for kids but sometimes there are adults skating there too.
Great place for your car to break down in. Lovely mix of incoherent people wanting to help but end up rambling on about government conspiracies. 10/10 would break down there again
I was told by my Dr to join the community centre because I'm socially isolated.
On enquiry about a social group I was told they have nothing for me as I'm not abused or ethnic.
I'm a 59 yr old english speaking woman I only wanted a group to have coffee with.
I was told because I'm not entitled to funding from my age care.
I'm not welcome for coffee.
When I explained my extreme need to be around people as I'm starting to feel suicidal.
I was crying and raised my voice no swearing. The operator got angry with me an kept repeating the funding story then hung up on me.
5 mins later the suicide prevention at RPA call me to check.
I explained all I wanted was a cup of coffee with people at my local community centre.
Riverwood community centre couldn't spend money making me a coffee by they can waste money and resources ringing RPA.
Just as well I didn't rely on them.
Riverwood community centre should be Ashamed that they can't support a local resident
Even RPA hospital was disappointed in Riverwood community centre not putting the kettle on.
I costs nothing to be kind.
SHAME on my local community centre
Riverwood Community Centre has very well maintened facilities and a friendly as well as welcoming atmosphere, with many an event happening every week. The volunteers are very helpful and polite and will try their hardest to make sure you have a positive experience at the Centre.
Great place for holding functions. You can also use the kitchen and there's a hard surface indoor court for volleyball and basket ball. There's also a pool table. Plenty of parking and right next to M5, close to Riverwood, Roselands and Beverly Hills.
Probably should be 1 star, bit I don't know the place that we'll. Based in the interaction that I just witnessed involving a driver of the Community Transport bus at RPA.very rude, totally lacking in empathy. Incredibly irate man (definitely not "gentle"man). I'd recommend a taxi, über, or hitch-hiking before getting into his bus. Horrible person. I hope that the rest of the workforce here is not so rude.
Took our girls here for Volley ball training, one particular staff who was managing the place was particularly rude, even during a near post-covid period. Got told off for letting a kid into the centre for his training.
Beautiful, new community centre with a fabulous basketball court set next to a grasslands park with water! The venue would be great for dance workshops and similar events!
Having two children going to their after school care. Great staff, don’t think we can find any better center than this.
Interior very clean. Exterior needs attention. Driveway poorly designed. Hard to enter especially when its located on main highway.
Great place! Especially for youths. They've got a nice basketball court. Great place for the kids during the holidays and after school
Gorgeous little park lovely to have a picnic or just take the kids to feed the ducks or have a play. There’s also a skate park right next door which is amazing for if you have big and little kids.
Love this park BBQ's childrens play ground, skate park, walking / cyclking paths lake with waterbirds off street parking
Something for everyone. The skate park keeps the kids busy and the markets are great. Lots to do with a community feel
I went to its community child services (community care) and its absolutely fantastic. Great services for a child, viable equipment that's in considerable amounts and great relations.
Went here for the community markets, and walked around the park. Has a few ponds where you can feed the ducks, playground for kids, and some small bridges to walk over.
Was actually lucky enough to run out of fuel in the rain just near this center. Whilst waiting for someone to come help, the staff here in the community spirit took me to the station to get fuel. Turned a bad day into a good one. Thanks guys
I visited the carpark next to it. It was ok, had marked bays and plenty of room. Tge angled parking makes it easier. Overall, its a outstanding carpark.
A fantastic community space. Multiple playgrounds, walking/bike paths, lake, skate park, markets, community garden. This place has it ALL!
A great community resource committed to providing a wonderful service to Canterbury City residents since 1974.
