Restwell Property Inspections

I just wanted to come on here and warn anyone that is looking for a pre purchase building report, be wary to use this company/ bloke. His company is restwell, and the person that conducted this was named brett. Please take a look on the reviews and steer clear. He gave us a shoddy report that was abysmal, and innacurate to the point major and minor defects arent even noted or looked into in common areas, by this " professional " that youve paid to tell you minor and major defects. He causes immense financial stress to the buyer, going into the biggest purchase they'll make in their life. I wanted to post this, to save anyone else and avoid them going into a lawsuit over 100k worth of missed defects, due to his inability to provide what we've paid. Others in the past have told me they have won at court and still not received a cent of money, moving assets and closing businesses are always an option that is used and to be knowledge has been used by this company in other cases. Your relying on and paying for A professional report and opinion, before purchasing a house and weighing up whether a house is worth the investment or not. I'm sorry to others that have already suffered to at his hands. If this is the standard we are setting for these reports, they'll never change. Companies like this need to be held liable and responsible for the immense stress and financial loss/ suffering we are facing due to rushing, negligence and many other things. If you wish to use this company, MAKE SURE YOU ARE THERE FOR THE INSPECTION AS ITS TAKING PLACE. We requested to be called when he arrived so we could question and make him look into things, he did not do that, and called us once he left. When asked questions about things we had small concern over, the report and verbal communication stated there was no concern. Now we are out a HUGE amount of money to fix these things he should of picked up, pre purchase.

Should have known better he was recommended by agent who sold the house! So many things in the report Restwell failed to mention & they were major things that needed fixing! The balcony was noted as "fair" it was rotten, unsafe to walk on! I believe this report was influenced by the agent as the property had been for sale for some time!

I should look at everyone's review before I start with this guy. This is too bad. What is the worst? This is what is the worst means. You've been wanted, again. Go away, Brett Woodward, it is a liar. It won't do any thing after you pay it.

The report was sub-par and extremely generic. When I contacted the company to clarify some details from the report I never heard back. I contacted them several times and was ignored entirely. Beware.

We used Brett to provide a report for our property for sale in Wollongong and for probably about 6 other properties to buy as we were attending auctions in Sydney. Found him to be prompt, professional and gave good, practical advice on the state of the properties he reported on. Highly recommend.

FRAUD and SCAMMER stay AWAY! Brett Woodward collected $430 prior to releasing an incomplete/blasè Building Report as an 'inspector' AND he is NOT qualified. He did not inspect the roof (internally or externally), he could not distinguish solid timber floors (he called them floating floors) the report highlighted wear and tear on a 30 year old vanity, a small dent in the colorbond fence and wear and tear of a hot water tank located outdoors (with a disclaimer he is not a plumber). On one of the pages towards the end of the report, he actual states he is not a building expert.
SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME, STAY AWAY! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

BEWARE. Dealing with Restwell was the biggest nightmare! We have been defrauded by Brett Woodward and lied to from the very first day. His inspection did not even last 5 mins and he provided us with a report that was completely inconsistent with the state of the house. He did not bother to have a look at the whole house which is 3 storeys large. When we received the atrocious and below satisfactory report I requested a refund which Brett Woodward promised me to provide if I was to send him a new report made by another inspector which I did. Jim’s Building Inspector completed a report for me and took the time to look at the whole house and give us an accurate report which was completely different to the rubbish Brett has produced.

Bottom line: Brett Woodward made offensive and rude comments when I requested a refund and said he doesn’t care about customer service. We have been defrauded of our money.

Very poor and unprofessional pre purchase inspection, after we moved in we found few major structural cracks which he didn't even noticed, wrong information in his report, and obvious broken floor tiles and leaking shower and he didn't see any of it, avoid him

The biggest mistake we have made is got the inspector through the Silicitor who is rude and doesn’t do the right thing, the Silicitor organised the inspector and when report came didn’t even bother to explain. We bought the house couple of weeks ago just to find so many issues he didn’t even realise because his excuse was too much stuff in the cabinet or too much furniture. Now we have to pay about 10000 to fix wall damage which Caused by leak.

NOT RECOMMENDED! UNRELIABLE! Inspection was very brief.only quick walk through inspection was offered.roof, attic, subfloor was somehow unacessible for a single storey house? ! Also Roof was ponding apparently as per the report but it has been sunny for the previous few months!

After having read all the others previous experiences with Restwell i can say with asuriety that this company is a total waste of time and money and would recommend everyone to beware dealing with them.

This guys is a absolute joke, spent 5 minutes in our house and spent most of that time talking about himself, then submits a false report that nearly cost me a sale, if it wasn't for me paying for a PROPER report where the company actually got into the roof and looked around and had the proper equipment to evaluate the condition of our house,
AVOID THIS DOGGY COMPANY AT ALL COST.

I had a building and pest inspection done on a property prior to purchase. Needless to say once i read some of the previous reviews I was rather concerned but had already paid via paypal. Overall i am satisfied with my experience, Brett made an appointment with the sales agent the next day and performed the inspection and I was emailed a detailed report. There were not as many pictures or cost of repair guides in the report as I've seen in reports from others but he showed up and I got what I paid for within the cooling off period so I am happy with that.

Not impressed with these guys at all.

I ordered a property report from Restwell and was pretty shocked with the quality. The inspection missed some basic stuff that I had noticed when I viewed the property (e.g. Springy floor boards, doors frames that were not straight) and they didn’t bother to check under the house. The report concluded that the house was in good condition.

I was close to purchasing the property but skeptical of the report so thought I should play it safe and ordered another report from a different provider.

This report identified significant termite and borer damage that meant the floor would need to be immediately replaced and also potential structural damage to the house that would need to be assessed further. Really glad I got another report done as saved myself from a big mistake.

I wouldn’t go anywhere near these guys again, complete waste of time & money.

Please do not use this company service even if it's free, Report's are not reliable. Stay away.

I have requested for a building and pest inspection through Restwell and I got a Inspection done for the property, he does not have two major issues in the report, which was uncovered by another property inspector from different company. I asked for the Inspection from the two company just to be on safe side.

When I called the Brett (Restwell owner) on the above Issue, he is not responding properly- waste of money and time.

This company is run by a guy called Brett Woodward. He is by far the most incompetent professional I've had to deal with. I ordered a pre-purchase Pest and Building inspection through the company website. Note that when you book an inspection, you are promoted to pay for it through Paypal upfront. There is a reason for that. The reason is that if you waited to get the report and asked Brett a couple of questions you would get generic, unhelpful, answers and would probably refuse to pay him. I nearly pulled out of a property purchase because the report incorrectly stipulated termite damage. When asked for photos of the damage for proof, Brett's reply was "it was too dark underneath the house". Not impressed, I ordered another inspection as did the vendor, both of the subsequent inspections showed absolutely no signs of termite damage. Goes without saying, I'll be making a fair trading complaint to report this guy. Property purchase is the biggest purchase anyone makes. So avoid this company and Brett Woodward, you've been warned.

HIGHLY EFFICIENT & reliable inspection. Does both Pest & Building inspection or one or the other, after inspection rings and discusses over the phone the results in plain terms that can be understood, followed up with a very comprehensive written report. Highly recommended!
