It was pleasure dealing with Rent a space, very professional people secure area easy to access during off hours and most importantly the team that is nice and very professional. Shout out to Oscar who helped me during the process. Highly recommended this company for storage been with them almost a year.

After I moved back to Ryde from o/s to take care of my Mum who subsequently died of terminal cancer I put all the important belongings including some furniture and things from Mum's house: family heirlooms, birth certificates, photos, etc.in storage because I thought they'd be safer and less prone to damage there than keeping them with me whilst travelling on business.

I left Australia in May 2019 paying Rent A Space ~AU$270 a month for the storage unit.

Because of COVID, business hit hard times and in November 2021 and I could not make the payments and the account went into arrears by two months. The equivalent of ~AU$500. Note that I had already paid Rent A Space over AU$5,000 at this stage.

I was overseas, unable to return to Australia because of Covid rules outside of my control and unable to afford the arrears and continued payments.

I asked them to extend out the payment period because of these circumstances and because those circumstances would 100% definitely change in two to three months with a guarantee on the commitment to fix the account within that time period. **Rent A Space offered no concession other than to give me one week to rectify the arrears from overseas.

I asked them if a relative could come and get just some items - items of sentimental value to the family and no monetary value to anyone - that were all contained in one suitcase. **Rent A Space prohibited access.

**Rent A Space auctioned the unit off with no room for negotiation other than paying a bill we could not afford at the time but now that issues are resolved can easily adequately do so. As stated, I had explained the situation and the plan to them in plain English via email. **Rent A Space stonewalled me other than the paltry offering of one week to fix the arrears.

While everything is going fine for Rent A Space - while you're paying their relatively high fee (nearly $300 a month for a small storage unit; a box with a lock on it) things are fine.

But when it comes to having a bit of heart and letting a family come in and get mostly paperwork and photos that are generations old, irreplaceable items of immense sentimental value to the family, they literally could not give one damn.

Trapped overseas and unable to get back to Australia because of Covid rules I dealt with people from the front desk at West Ryde, to collections, to management. All made thinly veiled excuses why we couldn't retrieve items that had no value to anyone else except the family even though they could keep the rest under the terms and conditions of the contract.

This was a fair and reasonable request given the Covid situation.

It was not given any consideration by staff at Rent A Space Storage West Ryde.

I've done business around the world - the UK, US, Europe and South East Asia employed by some of the world's largest IT companies (Microsoft, Cisco, et al). When things turn bad, as they do from time to time, allowances are made on contract terms and conditions in varying situations such as the GFC for example. In all of this experience I've never dealt with such a heartless organisation and people bereft of any concern for the customer and the sentimental value of the unit contents other than strictly its monetary value.

We've now lost items that were irreplaceable and invaluable to us as a family and worth absolutely nothing to anyone else.

No matter what excuses are made in any response Rent A Space may make to this review, the actions of these people are simply reprehensible and I've provided proof of this in the attached correspondence.

Rent A Space only cares about Rent A Space.

They do not care of make concessions in extreme circumstances for their customers.

UPDATE: As you can see from their reply and the fact that they have saved "four items of personal belongings" which is all I was asking them to do in the first place - they don't get in touch with me directly by email which would be the right thing to do. No, instead they post it here pretending to be an ethical business with a code of conduct when they don't.

Absolutely unacceptable.

Linda was so kind and helpful, I was late to sign and rent a storage unit and she stayed back and helped, the staff are really amazing. Would highly reccomend. Super happy with the price too!

The customer service is great! Pauline went above and beyond in helping to facilitate a contactless move-in while I’m overseas. The prices are also reasonable and I would highly recommend the service from Rent A Space West Ryde to others.

I would highly recommend this company for your storage, other than the good deal and discount I have received, their employees are exceptional. Pauline who works there was so helpful from day one. Always with that good vibe and welcoming personality in addition to her exceptional customer support skills where she helped me in organising a pick up date even though it was a short time notice but she still went out of her way and delivered the outcome that I was hoping to receive. Pauline had the interpersonal skills that made my experience enjoyable feeling supported and happy with singing with Rent a storage. I thank her for all her help and her follow ups she is a a big asset for the company.

I would also talk about the truck driver who was sent to my place, very nice man. In general it’s all about the people who made me fee comfortable to leave my furniture with them knowing that customer support will be exceptional.

I would highly recommend them and especially Pauline who’s been great to deal with your inquiries.

The friendly team at Rent a Space made it easy from choosing the right space to getting organised and sorted. The ease of access anytime and the trolleys available for use are definitely a plus. In a nutshell: convenient, friendly and accessible!

To the staff at west ryde, I just want to say thankyou so much for making it so easy for me to set up my storage Facility.
Pauline and Lina is.and.are. ”Amazing” individuals who looked after me so much.there worth more money lol.
Pauline asked all the right questions ensuring I wasn’t wasting money on unused space. Pauline was extremely accomodating and understood my situation Xoxo.
I strongly would recommend them both to anyone looking for storage, with the facility in a convenient location and well organised.

The team at Rent A Space have been amazing! They worked beyond their office closing time to help me get a storage unit and their famous free truck service for the next day. I was in a difficult situation and being forced to move out of my apartment at the last minute. I’m so thankful to them for their genuine and human care.

I recently needed to store my household items due to COVID taking a hit on my situation. Linda was extremely accomodating and understanding of my situation. As someone who has never stored before, I wanted to understand my options. She asked all the right questions and was able to get me into the right sized space for my items - ensuring I wasn't wasting money on unused space.
Very appreciative of you Linda, you put a smile on a dial that hasn't had one in awhile.
Would recommend to anyone in Sydney!

Just ceased 2 yrs. Was a convenient locality & well organised. I was able to downsize for the last 12 months. Staff personnel all very pleasant at all times.

Really friendly staff and they were able to assist and help me with my million questions.

As it's my first time looking for a storage, the team has done a wonderful job explaining the process and breaking down the cost.

Plus points to the free truck for move-in and wished they had a free truck for move-out as well (unfortunately they don't. But it's something they've informed upfront as well)
