I really hope those vendors that have listed their property with this agency question what they were promised when listing.and what they actually receive during their campaign.
Why? Last Saturday, after getting up early in Sydney and driving down to view 2/61 Regent Street, Mittagong, we arrived with 4 minutes to spare before the advertised inspection time concluded.
Great, we thought, we only need 1 minute to have a quick look before we dart over to the next property on our tour of the 6 properties we had mapped out to see that day.
To our surprise, agent Sarah was walking out of the property on her way to pick up the agency pointer sign. We asked if we could see the property. No, she replied, she had to quickly go to the next open. I looked around and there were no other people or cars, and thought she would be happy to see someone. However, not so.
When I showed her my phone, which still showed 3 minutes to go before the inspection concluded, it meant nothing. She needed to go. When I said I had driven from Sydney to see the property, it also meant nothing. When I asked if we could come back later with a private inspection, Sarah said she was busy all day. To sum it up.we meant nothing!
What should she have done? At the least, she should have provided a 30-min inspection.as would have been advised (if not promised) to the property's vendor. She also should have taken our details and offered to see if anyone in the office could have assisted us.
At the end of the day we had met plenty of agents, and just like your average tradie, they delivered varying degrees of customer satisfaction. So, it may have been good to get the worst service out of the way first. However, rather than be derogative, I'd prefer to say this. Sarah, when your disgruntled boss makes you read my comments here, as you are in your early industry days (it certainly showed in your engagement with us), remember that you are in the people business — not the property business. And you won't go far without doing your best for people.as inconvenient as that sounds!
One day, week or month soon, I'm bound to come through another OFI with you 100% there for 30 mins. At which, I hope I'm impressed enough to later spend 10 minute writing a glowing testimonial about your customer service. Real estate is all about numbers.make everyone count.
