Ragazzi Wine and Pasta reviews
73 This is the best pasta I've ever tasted. Period.
We ordered the nduja and mozzarella croquettes and the beef tartare for entrees. Both were delicious but the tartare was a real highlight.
As for the pastas, all four of them were superb. My favourite was the prawn mafaldine, but all of the pastas were so flavoursome and the quality was another level altogether compared to other pastas I've tried previously.
You honestly can't go wrong with any of the dishes.
The service was wonderful as well.
We'll definitely be back!
Absolutely sensational pasta. And anchovy butter sourdough. Sensational. I tried both mafaldine and the sausage trottole - amazing. Very delicate sauce, al dente, nuances of flavor. Excellent. Non alco spritz I would not reccomend - very watery.
My only concern was the lady working there that keep touching all the food with her bare hands while prepping it behind the counter and never once washed her hands - just kept wiping them in the towel tucked in her apron. Equally mesmerizing and unsettling spectacle.
Still the food is 10000% worth it would go back any day.
Tried their set menu with my friend ($80/person), including three starters, 2 pastas and a dessert. The food in general is okay. Though the sauce of casarecce makes me wonder if the chef does not have enough experience to handle duck.
Service is a joke in this restaurant. We saw a couple of tables unattended for long, and the communication with the waiters was definitely not a pleasant experience. After going through other comments, it turns out their miserable service is not a news.
While going through old comments, I came across one explicitly expressed perceived discrimination against asian in this restaurant. My personal experience seconds this comment. Otherwise, I could not come up with a proper explanation for the behavior of the waiter who read out loudly and slowly from the menu with his finger pointing word-by-word through the sentence "chef decides what you eat", as a reply to our simple question: "what's in the set menu today".
In short, if you don’t mind to spare extra money for mediocre food and barbarous service, this is the right place for you.
Arrived at 6.30 pm Kingfish crudo, Conchiglie, Blue Swimmer Crab, Green Peas, Chilli, 2 glasses of a Nebbiolo wine watching smartly dressed walking to the Ivy at Angel Place. Wonderful cheerful staff. Reasonable prices. Definitely recommend if you can get a seat.
This place definitely lived up to the hype! We did the feed me menu and the food was sensational - stand outs being the beef tartare and the duck ragu. Don't underestimate the eggplant ravioli either though.
The service by our waiter Luka was phenomenal. He went above and beyond and even chose us the most delicious bottle of Italian red.
The only criticism I have was being a smaller venue the tables were quite close together and we could hear everything the man next to us was talking about so I do feel like my attention was pulled away from our conversation.
Exceptional restaurant. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch here. The food was perfect, every single mouthful was just right. If top flight Italian food is your thing, you won’t be disappointed. The service was top notch also, the French gentleman who looked after us was excellent.
Food is nice
but service is not that impress but total is okay:)
maybe will try more wine next time
Absolutely class. Impeccable, friendly and personal service. The wine was amazing. The cacio e pepe was amazing. Would dine here again in a heartbeat.
Ragazzi serves up some solid, if unexceptional pasta. Mild flavours felt unfocused and missed the mark on leaving a lasting impression. Contrasting to this was the Raw Beef which was by far the standout dish at Ragazzi; get at least one per person if you're going.
Service was ok, but they got the quantity of an order wrong and also forgot a drink. Book in advance to secure a table inside.
Overall Ragazzi provides a cozy venue with some decent pasta that'd make an excellent date night, but if you're looking for something memorable, head elsewhere.
I have been to Ragazzi many times and never disappointed. The pasta always amazing and on point! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Good service.
It’s not an Italian restaurant.
As an Italian the food was very disappointing, everything had a very confusing taste and fresh garlic was everywhere.
The worst part were the pasta, they were over cooked, chewy, oily and seems like a soup. I can’t taste the grab in the sauce.
The staff was lovely and very welcoming. Great wine list.
Food not good at all.
Julie the French waitress was such a great energy on a rainy Sunday. Everyone we spoke to was so knowledgeable and helpful. We had the most beautiful anniversary lunch and would be back in a heartbeat. Thank you!
This place is so good I had to go back. Recommend booking in advance as it is small and regularly full!
Each of the pasta options are amazing and tough to choose from!
Came with my wife for dinner as walk ins, I believe the food is really good, well presented and for the price I think food is fairly priced, better than other restaurants around the area with pricey, average food. Loved the nduja mozzarella croquettes and the pastas were really nicely done too. Staff could've been a little bit nicer though, hence the 4 stars, however will be coming back.
Best pasta in Sydney, hands down. Great atmosphere, chilled and friendly, but you're coming here for the food!
Yum! Starters were both lovely and the pasta is incredible! Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. We were walk ins and were lucky that they had a spot at the bar for the two of us on a hot sunny day in the city! Lovely wine too, and had to treat ourselves to an Affogato with Nocino liqueur for dessert because why not!?
Absolutely terrible service. Woman with short hair was extremely rude that we just had to leave before even sitting down. Asked if I could extend the bookinf as I only had 1 hour to hold the table and her response was just "no". How disrespectful.
Squeezed in for lunch. And I mean squeezed in.tiny place. Sitting on top of one another. Food is tasty and trendy. Very rushed service. They want you in and out.
You need to get yourself to Ragazzi in Sydney. Trust me, it's worth the effort to book ahead because this place is always packed. But once you get a table, you won't be disappointed. I ordered the sea urchin pasta and it was mind-blowingly good. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The portion size was just right, leaving me satisfied but not stuffed. In addition to the pasta, I also ordered the duck terrine as a starter and it was equally as impressive. The terrine was perfectly seasoned and the flavors were bold and rich, with a generous portion size.
The wine list at Ragazzi is impressive, with a mix of local and international options to choose from. I paired my pasta with a local red and it was a match made in heaven.
But what really sets Ragazzi apart is the fact that the pasta menu rotates regularly. This means you can keep coming back and trying new and exciting dishes.
Overall, Ragazzi is one of the best pasta places I've ever been to. My only wish is that they would open a location in Melbourne so I could enjoy their amazing pasta more often. If you're in Sydney, make sure to book a table and give Ragazzi a try. You won't be disappointed.
Every dish was a winner!
Great location in Angel Place, very popular and a great buzzy atmosphere. Every dish was a winner
- Raw beef was a great combo of flavours
- Tuna crudo was so fresh and a great way to start
- the duck sausage might be the best pasta dish I’ve eaten
