Queen Chow Enmore reviews
81 Our recent visit here was so very disappointing. This was one of my favourite restaurants, however it is no more. As always the service was excellent, the ambience is beautiful but who wants all this when the food is below par?
We really didn't enjoy any of the food - we had salt and pepper squid, the cucumber salad, dumplings (sooo bland and overpriced), prawn toast (I raved about this on previous visits but this time it was greasy and oily and not nice), wanton noodle soup (have had far better in multiple food courts.) I can't remember what else we ordered as none of it was memorable for the right reasons.
This was a special occasion dinner that we were all looking forward to. It was very expensive and very disappointing. Won't be back.
The servers are super pushy, pressure on alcoholic drinks even though we stated we weren’t drinkers, asked for time to look at the menu but the waiter returned every minute atleast 4-5 times within a 10 minute time frame.didn’t have any sense of privacy as they are constantly circling your table and asking us how the food is with our mouth full.
Got super defensive when i asked for it to be taken away as it took a long time for it to come out and we had other plans, waitress sighed and said they dont allow their customers to do that? Topped up our water before we even got a sip of it mid conversation just looking for something to do. The char kweoy teow was absolute dogwater, nothing like what you expect it to be. Overpriced for some mid food at best.
Great space for dinner and made great drinks …
BUT food was not only underwhelming but the Steak Tartare left me very sick for the next few days with food poisoning.
The dumpling were good, salt and pepper calamari and cauliflower was lower end pub quality and the duck was incredibly under-seasoned while the noodles we ordered were over- seasoned to the point you couldn’t taste or see the difference between the cuttlefish and the flat rice noodle.
Chinese cuisine in the eclectic Enmore precinct. Wonderful meals, wide variety of beverages, friendly efficient service, and great décor. Highly recommended!
Service was noticeably friendly. Food was utterly amazing! My new favourite local place to bring my friends and family to.
Worse place ever will never come back again! How dare you be so rude worse food and customer service ever
Food was beyond delicious and would absolutely recommend to all. Unfortunately the service let us down. Nothing major just a few off putting moments throughout the night.
Overcharged and under served.
Food is good ok. Service poor.tonight was patchy at best. Charged 4 bottles water and only served us 2.
No cooling on a HOT Sydney night
I won’t be back soon.
Loved my birthday lunch at Queen chow! Food and cocktails were absolutely delish so was the ambiance.
It’s on the pricier side definitely especially with a big group but all of us did enjoy it a lot.
The food was only okay - the dishes we tried tasted pretty flat, below average for Chinese restaurant food. That being said the service was really lovely and friendly, and the vibes were really fun. Had a super nice evening overall - would recommend for sure, just armed with expectations about the food.
Ye. I can't fault QC. Staff are so nice. The bars are beautiful. I had to ask: 'Is this a Hemmes establishment? ' Of course it is. Staff are always attentive, but they are busy everything is just so.
Got the duck, rice, noodles. Hemmes knows how to keep a simple menu, but make it great. People are there for the drinks, and they have a container load. Yes, it's expensive, but what delivery, atmosphere, calm with blues music.well, half the time.
I admit my bill was covered by someone else, and I could've gone nuts, but it was so good. Food, and living somewhere quiet, are true signs of wealth. OK, and the motorcycle to get to these places.
I highly recommend going to Cow and the Moon Gelateria after. You will not get better gelato in Sydney.
The customer service and food is amazing. Natalie our waitress went above and beyond our expectations and with a smile.
The manager was super friendly and met with guest and made us feel welcome. Definitely will come back
Quality! Prawn toast is out of this world. Staff are brilliant and the atmosphere is spot on. Highly recommend coming with a group so that you can order more and share.
An awesome experience from start to finish. The dishes were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious with the dim sum collection an absolute standout. The black Angus pepper beef was juicy, peppery and spicy complemented by the flavoursome friend rice. A bit on the pricier and more ‘fine dining’ side but definitely worth it for a great night out!
Sadly the Queen Chow experience has fallen from what I remember.
The dishes and dumplings are not as generous or as well prepared. Oily fried rice and simpler presentations and flavours have reduced the experience.
We also had to repeatedly ask for wine to be poured and the service was intermittent.
The price for all of this has gone up too.
3 out of 5.
Average and overpriced. Didn't feel like Merivale at all. Tables too close to each other, food very average and service substandard.
For what we paid, the food quality was very average. The wontons in the soup were hard and should be a lot softer. Maybe from frozen? The salt & pepper squid was very underwhelming & not presented well for a $40 dish. The crispy chicken was the only highlight. They would need to improve a lot before I’d consider coming back!
Let me start by saying, the bbq platter is made in-house I can taste the difference between this Chinese restaurant compared to one of the best in Sydney CBD where their bbq sucks, pork ect are cooked off premises.
Arrived to this wonderful place well greeted. Was the wife’s birthday so I was praying for a good dinner and my god did they deliver a fantastic dinner.
Entrée - Dimsims steamed what I like to call it mixed dumplings featured a series of different tasty dumplings. Yes little pricy but paying the price came with a dish that backed it. And it was worth getting.
Main - Bbq platter - in-house the reason why I say in house because I know the taste and difference due to being a food blogger with experience in cooking and eating ;). Bbq duck nice fresh skin crispy duck mouth watering, pork very nice the best bbq pork Chinese style I’ve ever had. Chicken juicy not a dry taste in sight. Main was very nice.
We got the fried rice very nice clean not greasy just very nice clean tasty Chinese food.
Dessert - Pictures speak for them self a perfect Finnish to the night.
Overall 5 star no questions about it.
Go for the food. Stay for the service.
We are the customers you usually don't want. Parents with 2 children under 7yo. We went during peak dinner service yesterday. Food was delicious and staff were all pleasant and very helpful. We had the best fried ice cream we've ever had.
Went back the next night again during peak dinner service; this time asked for takeaway.
It is hard to get good staff at this time in Sydney. I realised its because they're all working at Queen Chow Enmore!
Highly recommend.
