Powerhouse Museum reviews
65 The Pwerhouse is a unique museum filled with a wide variety of treasures.
25 rooms of remarkable relics of days gone by, including lots of interactive exhibits that are fun for kids or adults who are kids at heart.
If you want your children to be exposed to work propaganda trash, bring them here. The museum used to celebrate science. Now it celebrates filth and anti Christian garbage. Nope.
On Thursday evening I attended this amazing public institution with my elderly relative from overseas. Loved the 1001 objects exhibition, props to the curator team for picking out such interesting objects as I imagine it mustn't've been easy. A special shoutout to young male employee named Arlo who helped my elderly relative navigate the museum and assisted us with accessibility concerns.
A vibrant mix of classic and contemporary architecture with amazing programs. Always vibrant and alive!
The Love parade costumes were inspired and beautifully presented. We were so impressed by the staging of 1001 objects.the room designs are magical.the craftsmanship beyond comprehension. Will be going back
Pretty decent museum for a free admission, if you have an hour or two to kill in Sydney, come along here and have a browse.
Sooo disappointing. What happened to the fun, interactive museum about innovation aimed at kids?
There was only one small interactive section downstairs and the rest was like an art gallery with staff policing it having a go at the kids for touching.
There’s no inspiration for the next generation here anymore.
This incredible building has SO much potential but is completely wasted on weak exhibitions and a complete lack of events/activities/marketing (?) It should have a bar, cinema (or advertise and utilise the little cute vintage cinema in there? !), events, event space etc. The aviation and trains exhibitions are classic and excellent, large scale and awesome for education. But generally, this space is so underutilised!
Located near Sydney central station, this museum is a must visit. Easily accessible from tram stop, entry is free for all. The staff is very helpful and will guide you when you enter. There are total 4 floors and there is so much to see. One floor has history of steam engines and locomotive history of Australia. There is also experiment section for kids to know and learn science. There is a lab to experience 'no gravity feeling' which is awesome.
I came to powerhouse museum when the weather was so bad.it’s an awesome place! They put sciences into arts and it’s an interesting way to show the history!
Clean, tidy, and many hand sanitizer stations.
I can’t wait to visit Powerhouse Paramatta which will be the largest museum in NSW!
This place has so much potential. Some great exhibits amount some mediocre ones, followed by empty caverns. With a few years work this place could be amazing. Considering it's free, it's quite good though
What a wonderful museum!
Staff are all over the place ready to offer any help or directions if needed. The exhibitions are well curated and interesting, and the interactive items are fun and engaging.
The kid's section is a great place for kids to be able to get involved in science and creative tasks and has some fun items for adults too.
It is unfortunate (but not surprising) that a few of the interactive displays are available (broken by guests) and there are quite a few empty sections, but given there is no entry fee and they seem to rely on donations this is completely understandable.
Definitely recommend this museum!
Its undergoing what look like a renovation, we weren't permitted to pass some sections, so my experience at the powerhouse museum wasn't as interesting as I imagined it to be.
Great museum, even though some things were closed due to covid it was definitely worth the visit.
Great museum, the classics of Locomotive 1, the clock and steam engine are impressive each time
Great place for young kids. Exhibits on Human Interface design going back to first Apple computers and Olivetti typewriters.
Unfortunately when we visited last week there were very few exhibits open and it really was not worth the effort.
I have been here in the past and loved it and spent hours happily wandering but on this occasion we saw everything in about half an hour.
When all the exhibits are open again it will be good, but at the moment don't waste your time!
The one plus was that entry is free at the moment.
Cool museum and it is pretty cool and I enjoy visiting this museum with my school and my father and I like enjoying the culture
Absolutely awesome. Fun and interesting day out for kids and adults alike. It's free, but I highly recommend making a donation at the end.
Had a lovely Saturday morning. We came here to see the Iranian art exhibition. Well presented display with pieces from 1800s to 1900s. The admission was free. Staff was covid19 safe offering free masks to people. There was a parking offer for people too on Thomas St. Lovely staff. Good museum to spend a couple of hours.
