Poppy's Home & Garden reviews
53Poppy's home @garden centre is very nice indeed friendly staff good parking with disabled toilets and parking
Come here to purchase a plant for my Mum for her birthday and literally waited 10 minutes at the counter to help me find a plant I was looking for and there was literally NO ONE around to help. Rang the bell twice and still no one. I then asked a girl who said she worked in the cafe and she went to look for someone for me and waited another 5 minutes before walking out. Waste of my time and the half an hour drive. I had been here once before and found it to be a similar issue not staff on the floor. Cafe was extremely busy. Maybe have some more staff in the actual nursery as well.
Fantastic service in the cafe. Beautiful atmosphere. Delicious food Always manage to buy a few plants on the way out
Beautiful food at the Cafe great service plants nice and healthy but a little to price for our budget had a lovely day
Have been a regular customer and previous time left disappointed as food wait was lengthy. Returned for Mother’s Day and booking confirmed 12: 00-1: 30pm by restaurant. Still waiting until 2pm to receive food and no acknowledgment of any struggles in kitchen or apologies. Felt invisible. Food came eventually and very mediocre.
Food is terrible.service slow and over priced. Wait time too long.would not recommend. Staf rude.
Great food and service in cafe. But mother in law requires a walker to get around. There was a large grill over a drain in the nursery access area in which the walker wheels fell into, she almost went over the handle bars if i had not caught her. I reported it straight away to the serving staff and was told that they would put a mat over it straight away. This was not done when we left 1 1/2hrs later. No mat, no warning signs, no care for the disabillity.
Okay. I'll start by saying Poppies WAS one of my favourite cafe to visit &, only a few weeks ago, I rated it 5 stars. Today the disappointments were many. Unfortunately, we experienced the following issues from not having ANY avocados & sour dough available (what I always have with my eggs & the excuse given was that they were "smashed" yesterday. My comment was but its a day later do you not restock your kitchen?) through to wrong meals being served, overcooked eggs & toast (that we couldnt even cut) to badly cooked eggs! Abbey was brilliant (5 stars for her) & we did get a discount "after asking for it"! Sadly I don't think we'll ever go back on a weekend!
Great renovations. Plenty of room to relax. Food is fresh & tasty. The staff are lovely, & friendly. After our meal, we went for a wonder through the gift shop. Lots of lovely looking plants, & other gift ideas.
Great spot for a feed and shopping for homeware and plants. If you are looking a unique plant or gift, I would recommend this as a must visit.
What a great place to visit wonderful staff so helpful and they will get plants in for you great service no need to go anywhere else
Great food, the best coffee, terrific service with a smile, tranquil and beautiful restaurant
Great gift shop and plants to tempt you once you have finished dining
Beauty abounds here
Always friendly attentive staff.
Gluten free options.
Lovely decor.
Nice to look around gift shop afterwards
Under new management. Cafe is beautiful. Food is delicious. Menu is varied. Garden shop holds lots of tempting Garden goodies.
First time visit from Central Coast - most impressed. Cafe, food- yum & service very good. Will visit again.
We went to The Cafe today for my mothers birthday. With out doubt it was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. The scones were cold and dry and fell apart when you touched them, the jam was not jam we are not sure what that was. The toast was freezing cold, the coffee was even worse. Without doubt this place has fallen apart. The staff are all over the place. Please so many nice places around so don’t put yourself through it. Will never go there again.
Asked for gluten free wrap, was served a sandwich, and I know from past experience that the bread was NOT gluten free. Within half an hour I was extremely gastric which is my usual response to gluten products. This could be very serious for a coelic person. For heaven's sake please treat these requests seriously, you could be endangering someone's life!
Won't be coming again
This is the most wonderful and magical place. So lush, such high quality plants, and such a beautiful atmosphere. Everyone in Newcastle needs to visit this place!
Beautiful setting but sadly the food was awful. Quiche didn’t look anything like a quiche was soggy microwaved muffin which was cold in the middle. The salad was a slice of iceberg lettuce still clumped together. Very very disappointing. Wanted to give a better review but honestly the food was so bad.
Lovely lunch, everyone enjoyed their meal, drinks & sweets. Quite substantial servings & staff very attentive. Lots of great pots & plants.
