Pollet's Martial Arts Centre reviews
12 The best dojo to train at led by a master in all aspects of Martial Arts, Hanshi Ian Pollet.
Everyone is so welcoming, friendly and the instructors are very professional.
It is a real family environment.
My daughter started training with Hanshi around 7 1/2 years ago and it was one of the best decisions as a parent. She has grown so much and become more confident. I am extremely proud of her successes in martial arts and cant wait to see whats to come! Thank you Hanshi and the Pollet's staff.
As a mum of two young girls. It has taught them confidence, discipline and respect. Its giving them a life skill of self defence. All in a professional and encouraging environment. Thank you Ian and your team for the time you have spent training my girls. I highly recommend Pollet's Martial Arts to anyone who may be considering joining.
Pollets Martial Arts are a true traditional martial arts school, covering multiple disciplines including Karate, Kobudo, Jiujitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing and more. All the Pollets dojos are equipped with gyms and include general fitness as a part of all their classes. I have been training in various martial arts for over 30 years, and I have been blessed to work with many great instructors, and I am grateful to all of them, however Pollets is where I will train from here on. Pollets have something for everyone, from families to fighters, old and young, and everything in-between. As Hanshi Pollet says "Martial Arts is not a one day affair. It is a lifetime commitment, a lifetime study… It is a way of life", I am thankful to be living it with Pollets.
I signed up recently to get fit, really great staff very professional and knows how to teach even older beginners like myself, I can't wait to get back out there after lock down
Such a wonderful and beautiful place to be, everyone is always so nice n positive to each other everyone says hello and goodbye when you walk in an out and it’s such a good environment and I would encourage anyone any age to give it a go coz you never know what you’ll like until you try it
Pollet's is a business first and a gym second. I trained at Pollet's for about 3 months, the training itself seemed extremely tournament-orientated. Everything was geared to buying stuff, it was pretty much mandatory to buy a Pollet's shirt and shorts. Then I was told I needed a longsleeve Pollet's shirt to do jiu jitsu. Bear in mind, this was about $100 for a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.
While some of the instructors were quite good, one younger male instructor was wholly arrogant and treated the class like his own little boot camp. The dojo culture is some kind of odd, pseudo-militaristic regime that was pretty jarring compared to other MMA gyms I'd trained in. Much of the time I felt like I was being ordered around.
The marketing never stops. Buy more gear. Come to a $200 one day masterclass. The minimum membership price is $20 a week and a lot more if you want to do more than one day.
The worst part is when I tried to cancel my membership, I had to sign an exit clause saying I had to give a month's notice. Paying for a service I didn't intend to use for another month was bad enough, but then after the month was up my account was still being charged. I rang twice to resolve the situation, was informed they had lost the document I signed and I would not be charged anymore and my money would be refunded. I was charged again the very next day, and there is no refund or cessation of the charges in sight.
There seems to be no dedicated admin staff, and trying to talk to anyone about your membership is incredibly difficult. Most of the time the front desk is completely unmanned. A good deal of the time, the phones are unmanned too. When you do ring, the line connection is terrible and the staff are generally ineffectual, promising to "call you back" (they won't) or telling you you have to come down to the dojo on "saturday, monday or tuesday" only to resolve an issue.
Fantastic family fitness center. The little tigers classes have done amazing things for our children while the addition classes for parents that are planned at the same time are fantastic
A brillant place to train. Motivating, supportive and fun. If you want to get fit and strong, this is the place to come.
Pollets has so many options of martial arts for all ages to try and excel at. Great instructors that keep the energy up and encourage you no matter what your goal is. I love that I can train with my kids and not just watch from the sidelines. If the kids get a lil tired of one discipline they can easily try another without having to change clubs or they can do as many as they like to compliment the main discipline they are training in. If you want to get fit and strong for yourself or want to take it further and attend competitions or fight in the ring, this is the place to train.
The best dojo i have ever trained at! Incredible instructors. Hanshi Ian Pollet must be the greatest martial artist i have ever met. He has an amazing ability of transforming his students into martial artists
My children started at Pollet's a few weeks back and I am extremely impressed with both of my girls personal achievements so far. Learning a life skill and taking this sport as far as you wish (for the committed into adult hood) is priceless. Karate and the other disciplines they teach are valuable for each and every child/adult. Self esteem, confidence, coordination, fitness, body language, self awareness, mind, body and soul are just some of the advantages.
Pollet's are professionally run with highly qualified instructors dedicated in teaching martial arts. Communication has to be vast and clear, from the very young to the more mature who train. Watching and listening to the instructors to which have mastered the delivering of instructions clearly therefore becoming visible to the group or individual.
From a Mother's point of view I can not recommend them highly enough and am truly grateful my girls both expressed interest in learning such an ancient stlye of self defense and chose Pollet's as their inspiration and mentor through their journey.
Thank you to the team at Pollet's and allowing my girls to better themselves as individuals for hopefully many years to come training under your supervision and expertise. It's more than just a sport it's life skills and personal development. If your thinking about starting either yourself or children stop thinking do it!
