Pilu at Freshwater reviews
83Really Disappointed. Had such high expectations after wanting to try Pilu for years after my parents reviews from their repeat visits and my 21st birthday dinner last night was nothing more than a disappointment. The un-set table that was missing knives and bread plates on half of it, flat Italian sparkling wine and the lukewarm greeting from the host on arrival set the tone for what was ahead. While some dishes were ok - there were a range of faults from over-seasoned scallops, to a cheese plate with 3 crackers and more. But overall, for a hatted restaurant - the service was poor and the food was average. Won't be returning.
They can’t manage functions and general public. We ordered at 7: 26 and received mains at 9: 04. Family with teenage daughters so lucky to be out with them on Saturday night
Everything about from our experience was very disappointing they didn't serve and match what they promised to us and the main food was raw and didn't ask how you like your meat or fish to be cooked and serving was so small amin small nothing with served it was a very disappointing for my son engagement party there was not enough food very little and we paid $3400dollars
It was so friendly and delicious. Expect to pay around 200,000 won for a course format for 3 adults. Reservation required. I was worried because my English wasn't good, but I had no trouble using the translator and asking questions from time to time. They even checked excessively to see if the taste was good. There are a lot of staff, but everything is good. It's so kind. I'm leaving good memories from my trip to Australia. I'll leave some good information for Koreans later. It's not a very quiet place, but it's a restaurant with an atmosphere where you can talk a little more freely.
First time dining at Pilu and it certainly won’t be the last. The food was simply superb, everything that we ordered was delicious. Not to mention great service. I highly recommend Pilu
Luca was exceptional and certainly provided a great experience for our lunch on Friday. We appreciated all the team's fantastic service ethic and felt thoroughly spoilt and very welcome. It was our first time dining with you, what a treat! The thoughtful menu and additional dishes /tastes were delicious, everything was generous and so well lead by Marilyn and Giovanni. Thankyou for your efforts, how lucky are we all to have a restaurant like this in Sydney and Australia to show case to the world! Keep up the great work.
An Australian gem, superb dining and experience next to the legendary Freshwater beach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Dined there for my birthday. The staff and team at Pilu were magnificent. They put us at ease, and were very understanding with changes to booking. Very professional and exceptional dining experience all round
Bought take away food for four people, and while waiting sitting on the stools (many empty tables, so tools weren’t needed it), the barista, shouted rudely many times that we have to go outside to wait for our take away food. On top of that an Australian couple was waiting just for ONE smoothie right next to us, and they were allowed to. We really felt discriminated upon.
From the moment we arrived we where treated to a beautiful display of hospitality, taking our jackets, seated in an amazing spot with views of freshwater beach & the ocean & ski put on a display for us as the rain swirled in, producing a rainbow as it cleared. We went with the Sardinian Experience with matching wines, the sommelier Moe, explained the provenance & terroir of our wines matching our exquisitely prepared courses. It really was a lovely way to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Thank you to the team at Pilu
Always superb food. Great service. Highly recommend the degustation. A wonderful international wine list too.
Celebrated my friends wedding here and it was amazing. Amazing views and amazing service from the team. Very beautiful place and the food was delicious! 10/10
Unbelievably disappointing.
The waiter was an interesting character and he certainly set the tone for the incompetence to follow. Far beit for me to criticise a person for not understanding my first language but, even politely pointing at the menu and confirming the order still proved problematic. But the one star is not for the waiter, it's for the food.
7 courses of absolutely inconsistent flavours and unsatisfying dishes. We ordered the vegetarian and I've never been so disappointed. This was so obviously a slapped together option to appease the minority. But when you throw down a grand for a meal, you expect a high level dining experience. The flavours didn't flow. The meals left me jealous of my son's pasta dish as there was no substance and no alluring flavour. Nothing made me feel like I would come back for that dish.
I doubt that the chefs have ever sat down and ate the 7 courses. Highly unrecommended.
Beautiful restaurant, glorious food, sensational staff.
Always a winner this restaurant is.the location is amazing and the food is just absolute perfection.
Sardinian hospitality at it's best.
I went, yesterday, with my partner for our anniversary and we were blown away. The smell of the flowers on the way on. The decor, simple but classic. The service was attentive, friendly but not contrived. Food was as you'd expect of a restaurant with two hats (the symbol of high accomplishment). We'll be back soon.
Amazing food (as always) and exceptional wine. Great location with an awesome view. Service was good although the drinks were slow to come to the table (meaning we had eaten half the course before arrival). A bit pricey but worth it. Remains our favourite Sydney restaurant.
Giovanni is best sardinian cook in the world. He's skilled but at the same time humble. He 's a sardinian ambassador.great
I would give it six stars if I could.food and views are brilliant but it is the service that make Pilu one of the best restaurant experiences in Sydney.their knowledge and attention to detail is next level.the wine list is like an 'Alladin's cave' for Italian wines.oh sooo good!
Would have given 5 stars but upon leaving and hearing the waiter who processed my payment complaining that my tip wasn’t big enough kind of took the gloss off the experience. It’s a Sunday so I presume the wait staff are on at least time and a half. Happy to pay the 10% surcharge to the owner on a $500 lunch for 2 people, that 10% helps him pay his waitstaff Sunday rate. But not enough for the wait staff apparently. Awesome food though
We had a fantastic Christmas lunch for work. Thanks to the staff for making it so special. Especially Sonja.
