Peter Hewett Optometrist

After going for a routine and very overdue check up, Hilton spotted a retinal tear in my left eye. I’ve got lots of floaters so thought very little about a few more in the days leading up to the check up. He, calmly got me into see a surgeon that day and retinal surgery was all sorted and completed within 3 days, He also rang a couple of times to follow up to see how it had gone. A few days after the op, I was a little worried about extra floaters in that eye. He saw me straight away, checked it all out and was able to reassure me everything was normal. He is the ultimate professional and I could not have asked for better care or a better outcome. The motto here is get your eyes checked regularly and if there’s anything that doesn’t feel right, go to your ophthalmologist straight away.

We have followed Hilton for the last 15 years or so.wouldn't see anyone but him.professional and experienced but caring.highly recommend him.

Nice salesman called Aidan, whose hospitality led me to by a $1000 pair of glasses. However I am extremely disappointed by the RUDE, ARROGANT, PRETENTIOUS (but I guess it’s Mosman) optometrist. I came in having an eye test for my new glasses I had just bought from there. I had lost my old ones and had been wearing contacts. I asked him what the risks were for wearing my daily’s at night (as I had accidentally done). Well, he absolutely fumed at me! (I thought he was going to hit me!) He said “don’t come to me if you go blind” (he’s a fricking eye doctor that’s his job and also more of a pay check so idk why it concerns him!)

What is more is that he gave me a WRONG diagnosis. He told me that I had extremely high pressure in my left eye and to go get it checked out at a specialist to see if it was glaucoma. Note he gets paid to be the referral and good connections with the specialist for that referral. $500 later, I get the result from the specialist who said “there is nothing wrong with my eyes! ”.

If the optometrist had been a bit more feeling toward my state, I think I would have been satisfied. But to me it sounded like he wanted another pay check upon the glasses and booking I had already paid for.

Disappointed!

Just had my eye test and have chosen some pretty groovy frames, from an extensive range, with the help of the very sweet and charming Erween. (Ive gone AbFab with my sunglasses)
The whole process is very impressive, Danya, my optician, was very knowledgeable and soothing, explaining every machine and test. I’m happy that all the tech found no new issues and I’m confident that I will be well looked after in the future. Thank you team,

If you are looking for an optometrist in Mosman, I highly recommend Peter Hewett Optometrist in Military Road. Absolutely fantastic from the phone call to make an appointment to when you collect your prescription glasses. Mine arrived in 1 week. They are so professional & thorough. I will NEVER go anywhere else as I have such faith in this practice.

Personalised and professional practice. Recently I required an urgent consultation and subsequent referral for a worrying sight deterioration. Peter Hewett G & M were extremely accommodating, fitting me in without issue. Optometrist Danya was excellent, highly recommend! She diagnosed and emailed referral to a highly recommended eye surgeon that day. Surgery was done next day. Danya followed up with a phone call to see how i was. Above and beyond.
My only very small issue is the selection of frames offered by G & M is limited. Peter and Caroline Hewett were renowned for their selection of designer frames and my personal experience is there is now a limited selection for me. I will continue to get my eyes tested there but will buy frames elsewhere.

Professional, caring and went above and beyond to help. My 3yo got sand in his eye very badly and the team were amazing. They squeezed him in at the last minute at the end of the day, made him a paper boat to cheer him up, and were so patient and diligent. Thank you! Highly recommend.

The best optometrist in Mosman. Would not take my children anywhere else. A wonderful family practice and Peter Hewitt and his associate are soooo skilled with children and get the script right with no error where others have failed.
