I love my pen! Krystina was incredibly helpful with lots of helpful advice. Can’t wait to write some letters!

Tense and unpleasant wanted to buy a pen but because I didn’t do much research beforehand and wanted to take my time I was asked directly several times if I have decided - one of the poorest shopping experiences I’ve had. Staff were condescending and pushy in manner, arrogance and rudeness was unnecessary. Not worth a cent to even deal with these people

Thank you KJ for your fantastic service, you really know your pens. Also a big thank you to Peter who held my hand the whole time throughout my pen journey in the store. My Visconti collection is expanding wonderfully.

Wide range of pens and inks, along with ink swatches and hand-written demonstrations. Shopkeeper was knowledgeable and kind too.

Same experience as all other people here, the staff are straight up aholes at this store, especially if you looking for a non expensive item like a bottle of ink, and most especially if its an ink they dont sell. I Since the fountain pen world is so niche and these guys can afford to sht on the majority of people who go in their, i can only assume their main business is ripping off rich tourists. That would explain why the pens are sometimed double the going Australian street price. Save your money and your dignity and walk on over to Dymocks or Kinokuniya, or go online to Pulp Addiction, but dont give these clowns your money. If you feel like some lols feel free to walk in and browse a bit, you will immediately experience what everyone else here complains about

I’m very disappointed in the discrimination from staff today. I have previously bought multiple items from this store without issue, but today the old Australian lady with curly grey hair serving me outrightly told me she refused to let me try a fountain pen as she feared I would damage it and kept asking me about my budget range and only willing to show me budget pens she thought I would be better off with. Luckily the knowledgeable male staff member with beard was able to let me try the pen that I initially wanted. But the damage has been done I won’t be buying again from this store

Good collection of pens but I really dislike the old school customer service. I never had a chance to browse & think, shop keepers (esp weekends) like to chat a lot, I mean…. A LOT. Probably a good place for anyone who’s new to fountain pens, needs the preliminary introduction and doesn’t mind being talked into buying something. For someone who has been using fountain pens for 30 years and know a bit about them, I was quite annoyed.

A terrible experience. The clerk didn't take his eyes off of his phone for the first 2 minutes of our 'conversation'. Then he went on a very strange conversational tangent that was inappropriate and irrelevant. I felt as though my business was not wanted and that I was wasting his time being there.

The following is my own personal opinion. Abrupt service… did not listen to what i wanted by way of price range or style. Kept insisting I buy the 22 ct gold nib item for $600. When I asked to see different colours, was told to walk outside and look in the window. I did walk outside and over to Dymocks. Spent 30 mins with a very helpful young lady who, through her patience, professionalism and helpful nature, earned a sale.

The staff at Penultimate work to suit the pens that they sell to the user. They find the pen weight that is just right and the nib to suit the hand. I always come back here and I feel that I am very special every time.

Extremely rude and appalling customer service. I was served in-store yesterday by an older caucasian woman, who I unfortunately was unable to catch the name of, and was sold a scratched display fountain pen. Today (2: 23pm) I rang up the store to ask about wether or not I could receive a new and unopened pen considering I had spent over $700. The man on the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional, arguing with me and hung up after I asked what would be an appropriate way to handle this query. When I called back he denied hanging up on me and acted oblivious to the dilemma. I’m very disappointed and appalled considering this was a very sentimental graduation gift. Take your business elsewhere to a store that cares about customer experience and bare minimum professionalism, especially when you’re paying the big bucks!

Best pen shop in Sydney. First, it’s the location, secondly, it’s stock availability and ability to try various high end pens. I’ve got several pens from them, a couple of repairs and always been provided with great service (and hand-written receipts with calligraphy writing). Very knowledgeable staff too - even if you just pop in for a chat, you’ll learn a lot about pens.

Super rude staff (the guy with the beard). I was browsing the pens with my friend. That guy told us go ahead and suggest it rainy outside and thisbis a nice place to kill time. And then he added, 'it's free to look around as well'. I was like? And when I asked about one fountain pen, he said the name and added "it's made in China". So? ? You can choose your products to carry. How about just putting up a sign saying "Chinese - not welcome". So arrogant. The old lady and shop girl were nice thou. Amazing

The store has a good collection of pens. Unfortunately the quality of customer experiences leaves much to be desired. Some staff members can be very abrupt and discourteous in their interactions. There's no point having a premium surrounding environment as a location if one is made to feel like one is at a basement bargain store in the third world once inside. The discrepancy from the pleasant and gracious customer service experienced from the pen brand retail stores themselves could not be more stark.

My wife purchased a very expensive mechanical pencil as a gift for me from this company. Unfortunately, the clutch mechanism stopped working some months later and the mechanical pencil was returned and “repaired” under warranty.
It came back with the same fault and was returned a few weeks later when we were next in the city. The store argued that the damage was new and caused by me. They then tried to make me pay for the repair. After much debate and rudeness, they agreed to repair it again under warranty. Today I collected the mechanical pencil and I asked for it to be engraved. The engraving, despite being done by machine, was lopsided. I didn't have the emotional energy left to argue so ignored it and paid. Upon payment, I was told that if the pencil came back for repair again it would not be covered and it would be cheaper to purchase a new one. Happy to pull out all the stops to make a sale, no interest or respect for the customer after they have your money. Part of selling luxury goods at a premium is the service that comes with it. This is a lousy company with a lousy attitude.

I love visiting this store and the service from the staff in particular KJ is exemplary. It is clear to me that the staff want their customers to be happy and satisfied and I can’t wait to purchase my next pen. A genuinely lovely shopping experience. Always happy to enter if the store is quiet so I can enjoy the service all to myself!

When i wanted to buy an ink that they are out of stock they tell me to buy another blue ink even though i know it is completely different blue. When I simply ask when my preferred ink is back in stock the manager tells me it is like "sewage water" anyway, all the inks except for the one he want to sell me that day. I think the brands Montblanc and Parker would be shocked if their authorised dealer described their product in this way!? I am former shop keeper myself so it is a sad day when it is now better to shop online and not be lied to every step of the way.

Like with all the other one star reviewers. This place just loves money and not the art of the pen or penmanship.
As much as I like to shop online. I still like to grab a touch and feel before deciding on the purchase. This shop and its staff are shallow in their perspective and if you are dressed casually they would not even bother with you. If you aren’t looking at a pen that is at least $2k. They won’t bother with you.
If you only buy pens for the collective value. Then by all means visit this place for its extensive range.
If you actually write, go elsewhere.

Fantastic customer service, KJ was friendly and helpful and made sure everything I needed was ready and delivered on time.
Prices were very competitive to what I could find on-line only better, as I had personal service and a faster turn-around-time.
VERY happy with the quality of my pens and the engraving.
Highly recommend!
