Payless Tyres, Brakes & Mechanical Repairs

Very good and efficient service provided. I got a flat tyre one day and shopped around to see where I could find the particular tyre for the cheapest. These guys were willing to price match a competitor and completed the whole process in a day! And this was all organised/arranged over the phone by Michael, the manager of the workshop.

Staff is ok, but Owner Michael was so Rude, don’t know how to talk to customers.

Top quality tyres fitted all-round at the best price I could find anywhere, these guys were great to deal with.

Only had a wheel alignment here once, and it was my best experience so far. If you want proper 4 wheels alignment, go to this guy. The boss is skilled, energised and has good attention on details as he spotted out what he found wrong with your car even though you only came for an inexpensive alignment job on his busy day. I enjoy waiting more than half an hour in the cool office for the job to be done and was reminded to come back after a few months to have a check on the tire wear again. Excellent work and definitely recommended.
P/s: I only got refused to pass my car inspection as the boss strictly conclude that my tyres are definitely fail, after 2 attempts I found a shop to pass my car as they suggested the tyres are ok to pass.

Was treated very rude from the owner upon entry and departure. He refused to pass my car, when the next mechanic did with no problems. My family and friends have frequented here for a while, will be recommending them not to come back.

With over 5 years of excellent service on all 4 of my vehicles, ranging from my Motor home to my F250, My LPG Ute and my Volvo Convertible, Mick and his staff are always efficient, polite, prompt and provide value and old fashioned service that is hard to find these days. Thoroughly recommended.

Such friendly service from Paul when I came to get a Pink Slip! Quick & efficient and I was out again in record time. Excellent work! The girl at the reception desk was also lovely and friendly. We will return!

Good price on my brakes and quick service BUT. I did have some drama. My service mechanic at Ultratune had told me i needed new rear brake pads. Went to Payless but they told me I didn't need any as there was more than 2 years of use left and then had a conniption (which was NOT good customer service) about the waste of their time (for which I incidentally had to pay $50 anyway!). Annoyed, I went back to my original Ultratune mechanic who stood by his recommendation and confirmed that the brakes only had 3,000km left. He showed me that there was only about 2mm to hit the wear indicator pins. Went back to Payless who now just went ahead and fitted the brake pads with no discussion. Just saying, but there is a HUGE difference between 3,000km as advised by Ultratune and the 2 years claimed by Payless which is effectively 20,000km, even if we assume 10,000km a year. That 17,000km difference didn't make sense and I never got a good explanation why two mechanics can have such a major discrepancy (I.e 2 years or 20,000km vs 3,000km). Payless justified their position by saying they wanted to give the customer maximum use of their brakes. But seriously, I suspect that 2mm of pads would likely have given me closer to the 3,000 km as claimed by Ultratune rather than in the order of 20,000 km claimed by Payless and I would have therefore been hitting the pins pretty soon if I had not got them changed. In other words, I believe Payless stuffed up. They should have explained themselves.
Anyway, at least they credited me the $50 i originally paid when they completed the job. And the overall price was good. But I wasted an extra 1.5 hours going back and forth and there was no acknowledgment of the stuffing around.

I have been going to see Paul for 2/3 years for servicing of my car and have had no complaints. I suspect he was probably averagely priced and I have never walked away feeling ripped off or wondering whether I was overcharged.

On a previous service I was charged for replacing front pads but this wasn't done and a couple weeks later I had to get them done again somewhere else, mainly because Payless is not close to my usual workplace,

My gut reaction was to not return to Payless but after thinking about it realised it was probably just a simple mistake by the guys doing my car and returned last week for a service.

Told the owner about my problem and he didn't hesitate to immediately credit me the cost of replacing the pads from the last service, even though I had no hard evidence I could give him about what happened. He simply took me at my word.

This speaks volumes about Paul's character and really did confirm that to me that there ARE mechanics you can trust and I have found one.

I've been bringing cars here for years. I'm very happy with the mechanical services and the tyres I've purchased. It's a small business which is always busy but that just means a lot of people are happy to shop there! The customer service is excellent also. Try them for yourself. I bet you come back and leave a positive comment!

Great place to shop for tyres, the owner is pretty honest and though he may not be the cheapest he would always gives the right advice.
