Paul is a patient and meticulous teacher who focuses on working with traditional hand tools. If you are interested in learning fine woodworking the classical way, minus the noise and safety issues of working with power tools then this is the place to give it a try.

Had a great experience with Brad and Paul at the spoon workshop. Great knowledge and in learnt a lot. There was more than goes into creating a spoon, and was cool to complete it with only three tools. Would recommend.

I've learned a lot from Paul and the team at Splinter Workshop. The introductory projects cover a wide range of hand tools and skills, and you will learn to produce really well finished pieces. I have been attending term classes for a few years now and am still really enjoying them. If you have an interest in woodworking, the courses at Splinter are highly recommended.

I love wood and wanted to learn to make things properly. I started woodwork with Paul and the team when I retired. I wish I had started earlier! So much fun, so much to learn from master craftsmen and in the company of great fellow students. Learning to use hand tools to create the set pieces was a great basis to tackle my current project - a hall table using Cherry. I have made smaller projects at home with greater confidence. If you want to learn about wood and woodworking - this is the place.

After a few years woodworking I had been wanting to take lessons for some time to increase my skill level. I'm enjoying learning from Paul a lot. Paul's lesson s are helping me build skill and confidence through a range of small projects. The workshop is well equipped. The students and staff are friendly. Highly recommended.
