Parliament of New South Wales reviews
47Had lunch in the strangers restaurant, was lovely, before taking the free guided tour was extremely knowledgeable by well informed guides. Would recommend this tour.
I was part of a group who visited State Parliament House for a guided tour. It was very interesting highly recommend visiting and finding out about State government.
Christmas in July lunch for Probus club, 5th of July 2023.
The meal was superb, lovely service, great venue.
Lack of decorations for the ocasión other wise it be 5 stars.
This was such a wonderful treat. The food was amazing, the staff delightful and we were unexpectedly treated to a special birthday plate of biscuits to go with our coffee.
My friends and I had a most enjoyable lunch at Strangers’ Restaurant. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff who served us with professionalism and courtesy. The food was outstanding in quality and presentation and the standard of wines we chose was high indeed. The location of the restaurant overlooking the leafy Domain was also a pleasant surprise. We shall return.
Our group had a great day with an excellent tour of parliament house presented with great flair by Wesley. Thank you.
Lunch at the parliament house was delightful.
Great day.
NSW parliament house is an interesting place. Question time looks like it’s daycare for adults. Way to many kids and only one adult to keep them in check.
Classy venue, delicious food with matching wines makes for a unique experience. Great value and service too.
Lovely venue to dine on a Monday when not much is open. We had the $78 per head menu which was exceptional.
The High Tea in the Parliament restaurant was a great experience: impeccably presented, huge amount of food and a nice touch with the dry ice.
I bought this as a surprise for my two relatives who I was staying with in Sydney as a thank you. It is a lovely building & restaurant, worth having a look around. The food was exceptional & with a really good choice. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. I would definitely do it again & recommend it.
As usual, most enjoyable, the high tea was served in the true tradition of high tea and waa most imressive, so much so, rhat my guest is now planning to entertain friends at Strangers. Thank you.
A great conference venue. The Black Rod and her staff looked after all participants very efficiently, and always with a great smile. Comfortable room, well air conditioned, great audio and visual. The food was great too. Can't do better.
Had a good evening here celebrating a book launch.
This cook book includes the history of food & dining at Parliament House & the art that is featured in the dinning room including 2 very large weavings from my mother in-law Fahy Bottrell.
The High tea was exceptional. It was so well presented, freshly made and delicious. Each piece was unique, looked beautiful and tasted wonderful. It was great value for money and the outlook over the domain was lovely. I thoroughly recommend and will definitely go again.
Very good place ro visit. Its an honour to be part of events and functions at Parliament. Good tonsee al ministers and premier roaming around.
NSW Parliament house beautiful history but high tea I would give 4 out of 10! Coffee/tea was luke warm and had to keep finding someone to fill up cups. The meal not very inspiring for what a high tea is meant to be. And ice cream pops that were melting before you could get to it. Seriously! Very disappointing!
. The unmistakable sense of history, observe a now bygone era wandering along the corridors of (NSW) power.
What a delightful experience. Lovely food and first class service. I am certain to go again on my next visit to Sydney
The Parliament of New South Wales is Australia's first Parliament, and its buildings include the oldest building surviving in the Sydney Central Business District. Parliament House was built first as the north wing of the 'Rum Hospital'. As there was no funding from the British government, the hospital was built using convict labour and funding from the Colony's monopoly on the rum trade. The building of three, two storey, colonnaded buildings was completed in 1816.
When Parliament is sitting, public access to the Chambers is restricted to the Visitors' Galleries. It is advisable to book in advance for Question Time in the Legislative Assembly, held at 2: 15 pm daily on sitting days. On non-sitting days when the Chambers are not in use, you may also visit inside both historic chambers.
