Oliveto Ristorante & Bar reviews
71The dinner was incredibly delicious and filling. Though I aimed to savor it slowly, the irresistible flavors led me to devour it quickly. The staff and service were outstanding. A sincere thank you for the excellent experience.
Very poor customer service. Several staff members came across very rude, especially the blonde woman who was a main host. It’s quite expensive place. Definitely not worth the money!
Had a surprise planned at the restraunt
Dealt with Rosa from the place
Could not have asked for the surprise to go any better! She went above and beyond with her service that was not part of the restaurants work! But she still went above and beyond with her staff! You know who you are! Thankyou for the service!
We walked in yesterday without a booking, on the hope that we might get a table for lunch.
Although the place was full, the staff quickly set up a table outside. As far as I could see, we got the best table in the place. Great view along the Parramatta River and no noise from a crowded restaurant.
I had the baby octopus which was actually enormous and cooked to absolute perfection.
My daughter had the blue swimmer crab pasta. Again, generous portion size, and delicious.
I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.
Thank you for a great lunch.
Excellent day for lunch!
Service was prompt and food was delish.
Being here before and no regrets.
Great for business lunch; or with someone special.
Went here for my birthday. Everyone here was so attentive and amazing, and made me feel ever so special. This place holds a dear place as it used to be mine and my late grandma's favourite restaurant. All of the staff were amazing and I hope to be back soon!
Firstly, thank you to Donna and all Oliveto staff for making our Wedding such a special day. From the service, to the food and to the exceptional organisation by Donna and throughout the night was absolutely outstanding. All our guests were so impressed
and I wanted to truely say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for making our Wedding so special. Everyone had full stomachs and had nothing but good things to say about the service, food and set up.
Lovely spot for my 60th with the family.
Kids really enjoyed their lobster pasta and steak, as did I. I overlooked that the t-bone would have 150g of bone, so the advertised weight didn't translate into the large serving of meat i anticipated, so sharing it wasn't such a good idea.
We had both our our wedding ceremony and lunch wedding reception at Oliveto (we had only around 100 guests, yet oliveto can cater for more). It’s such a beautiful wedding venue especially in daytime. It is surrounded by beautiful greenery and water—super lovely background that allows photographers to take beautiful photos of the couple and the bridal party very easily.
Our event manager Donna was very helpful. Food is amazing amazing as always (I am already missing thr food).
Can‘t be happier with our venue choice:) Thank you very much!
Great food, service and view. I came here for the first time last week for a birthday and will be back. We were served by a lovely waitress called Hanna. Recommend the tuna and risotto.
Great waterfront view. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Food was ok. I had beef, felt it was a bit burnt on the top. Wine glasses were not clean unfortunately. Not sure if they have a washer. However, the staff were very friendly. Great customer service.
Had our end of year thank you lunch today for our family business team members, food was great & our waiter was fantastic
Thanks
Very nice views of the water and upper class atmosphere with great service. The food is also quite good gastronomic type variety, though a bit overpriced for what you get on a plate I thought.
Bread basket was really good, though olive oil to dip was a tad too bitter for my liking, good quality nonetheless.
Barramundi was good, well selected fish and had no muddy taste as some of them can have that.
The duck dish with smoked duck breast and confit canard was a hit and miss for me, who loves duck and it is my go to default meal in France. The accompaniment was very well matched and well done - excellent. The smoked duck breast was really nice though just bit on a tough side. Confit canard was a disappointment when comparing it to just your standard basic canned confit canard from a supermarket in France. It tasted more like baked duck - not confit, and I found the aftertaste to be a very tiny bit rancid for me.
Pettit four were OK, tiramisu was not bad, good dark chocolate and not overly sweet which was nice, however a bit on bitter, and, sloppy and wet side. The mango and coconut mile feuille did not look like mile feuille in France but it was exquisite.
Things I really did not like was the rubbish scattered at the edge of the restaurant terrace. I think for a gastro and atmosphere restaurant in that price range the management ought to have not overlooked that little detail.
Overall, I recommend this place but go for a degustation 5 course meal, for ordering individual dishes you get quite merger portions and 3 course will probably set you back as much as the 5 course degustation option.
One of my favourite locals. Good food, wine and service. Plus it's waterside and has floor to ceiling glass walls so great view.
It’s overpriced for what you get and food wasn’t delicious.and didn’t have any designs.this is picture for our baramandi plate and we paid $100 for 1/2 lobster was so bitter and not tasty.you can try, but i don’t recommend them.customer service was good.
It's a beautiful location, but that's where it stops. The service is a little slow. The tables are seated very close together and therefore it's very loud when the restaurant is full. It felt squishy moving between the tables. Don't sit near the kitchen it's very disruptive.
We ordered two degustation meals with matched wines. It was $125 with matched wines or $95 without the wines for 5 courses. The menu seemed like it was just thrown together without a thought. The presentation wasn't great either.
First course was oysters paired with a prosecco. The oysters were NOT fresh. The granita that they served overpowered the delicate taste of the oyster themselves.
Second course: Prosciutto with gorgonzola with a resiling from SA. The presentation of this dish was not great even with the limited lighting of the venue. It looked like a dogs breakfast. I wouldn't even feed this to my dog.
Third course: taglionlini with blue swimmer crab paired with a Rosè. The pasta was over cooked and there was hardly any crab in it. The wine was average with this pairing.
Fourth course: Beef tenderloin, this dish was probably the best out of the lot but still below average. Beef was cooked medium rare, and the accompaniments were all right.
Fifth course: pavlova, nothing exciting about this dish. There was no WOW factor.
Overall, there was no wow factor, the food was below average. The matched wine servings were more generous than other places that I've been to. It was too loud to have a conversation with the person across from you. I wouldn't recommend this place. For what you get it's not worth the money.
The food took too long to be served and the service was disrespectful and unpleasant, especially the hall manager. I have been to this restaurant since 2007 but they may have lost the beginning enthusiasm.
Overpriced, the food is very average and super small portions, just fancy names on the menu, not worth the bucks.
Waiter was nice but we got our food and then bye bye until he came back to clean the table.
Another bad restaurant with good undeserved reviews.
It's overpriced for the food that's served.you're paying for the ambience and view. I don't recommend being seated near the kitchen and the waiters are close to elbowing you as they pick up dishes from the kitchen bench and their backs are towards you. My favourite dish was the crudo, the gnocchi texture was textbook perfect but the sauce lacked seasoning. The risotto and ragu were unfortunately bland. They had a big function on the same night and that could be the reason for the lacklustre food.
Ambient 4 (too much noise)
Staff 5 (Sara very kind)
Food 4/5 (my spaghetti were fine but not incredible; also the tiramisù was fine but not amazing
Price 3/5 (a bit overpriced the bread and the pasta in my view, however kids meals $10 is cheap)
Score = 4
