I completed this course 8 years ago. It's been life changing. Superb knowledge of the ocean and conditions from all the instructors. Andre and his team have a wonderful teaching approach and made us all feel safe. More importantly really gave all the students the confidence to get out past the surf and enjoy the ocean. Excellent theory and practical knowledge for all levels.

Course was packed with information, presented very clearly and in an engaging manner. There was a great balance of theory and practice. We had several opportunities to practice the drills in the water and got great feedback. I really enjoyed swimming back to the beach with the waves. Swim the Whitsundays was so beautiful, perfect weather in October and fantastic staff on board the Solway Lass. Louise our tour guide was fantastic very informative and kept us safe. Would definitely recommend this tour it was lots of fun and the water was so warm!

I found the course excellent. Even though I do a fair bit of ocean swimming, going into the course I knew very little about the ocean and how to make best use of the challenges the ocean throws at you. Through Andre’s skilful tuition methods, I learnt a huge amount about wind, swells, sets, lulls, rips, tides, waves etc. I am now able to better “read” the ocean before going into the water which gives me a lot more confidence and I feel I have a new set of skills to improve my ocean swimming.

I also found the very simple 3D models that Andre created in the sand were very helpful to understand the sea, the seabed and how this effects the surface conditions. Understanding all this will help me to better manage Obstacles as they arise. Very easy to follow and above all very logical.

Taking to the water was the next phase which went well because Andre and John managed and controlled the group very well and again filled the whole group with confidence.

Thanks for the great course, I am now looking forward to Upping the ante and taking the next course with OceanFit.

The OceanFit clinic on techniques for open water swimming was right on target. There was lots of information about "reading" the conditions prior to entry into the water and plenty of time in the water to put learnings into practice.

It was a great start in feeling more comfortable in the ocean. Many fantastic tips. Thank you, Andre

I attended the Ocean Swim Clinic solo and met a wonderful group of supportive swimmers with different experiences and knowledge. I was a complete newbie but over a cuppa tea in the cafe afterwards, it was clear that everyone got something out of it. It boosted my confidence and made me a little braver in the water. Andre and Susie were very patient and very clear about which techniques to use, how to execute them and why and when to use them. Andre says there was lots to fit in and he wasn't wrong! My brain was stuffed to the brim by the end but it's all in the supporting material online so you can revisit at your leisure. Great course and I would highly recommend.

Great experience. The theory session opened up new ideas for handling the surf when doing a ocean swim. Very worth while if your new to ocean swimming competitively as or just wanting to get more confidence when swimming in the ocean

Very well organised, comprehensive course of theory and practice in the ocean. Andre explains and breaks down concepts an easy to understand manner. Being new to ocean swimming I felt very safe in the water and comfortable asking questions no question goes unanswered. Feel a lot more savvy now with reading the surf reports and the conditions too.

Excellent overall! This trip exceeded our expectations and will recommend highly. All personnel were excellent and Andre's eye for detail provided a seamless and well organised adventure. Well done & thank you.

I am 55+ years with health issues and only started Ocean Swimming about 6 months ago across Mooloolaba Bay.
Swim The Whitsundays tour was an incredible Ocean Swimming adventure onboard the tall ship Solway Lass! I always felt safe and supported which allowed me to challenge myself with swims and distances and I didn't think I was capable of! As well as fabulous swims in stunning locations, there was a great group of guests and an outstanding skipper and crew onboard the Solway Lass aswell as our leader Andre from Ocean Fit and assistant Izzy who both guided us and kept us informed, motivated and inspired throughout. Safety in the water and for each swim was paramount. Thankyou Andre and team for a life changing adventure - I'll be back! Anna Dann
