Oberon Visitor Information Centre - Oberon reviews
17Very accessible with a free Tesla Charger with two ports at the back. I popped in to get some visitor info on where to eat with the kids and was greeted with two huge smiles that were extremely eager to help. They gave me a list of restaurants with operating days & times and a map where they marked them on for me. Super helpful!
Visited on a Saturday. Conveniently got a street parking spot out the front. We visited seeking information on mushroom picking in Oberon. The staff was more than happy to help us out, she circled some locations for us on a map and provided a lot of helpful information to aid us in identifying and picking the edible mushrooms. She also provided us with more information about the local town on the main street as well as some recommendations on where to eat.
The lady working here was incredibly friendly and helpful. She asked questions about my interests and suggested activities based on those. Having up to date details (the farm visit nearby, for example, has some newborn animals at the moment) added to the value.
We loved the suggestions and information
The staff was very helpful
Thanks again we enjoyed our stay in Oberon
We had the best time when we came across from Lithgow to Oberon in the past year we have the best welcome from the people who live in the town and work in the veryous shops we visit and have a great time camping there as well
We arrived at 10.15am and it wasn't open although website said it's open 7 days. No explanation anywhere why it wasn't open. Very disappointed.
Conveniently located with plenty of info and very pleasant and helpful staff.well worth a visit
Very helpful staff. Take the time for you and seem to enjoy their work. A good start if you want to enjoy Oberon and surrounding.
We always visit the local tourism office in a new town for handy information and tips. Oberon tourism namely Deborah was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and offered unbiased opinions on local attractions and camp site recommendations. It's always a pleasure to deal with people who are knowledgable and passionate about their job role. Totally recommend!
Informative. Great place to pick up basics for fossicking and mushroom hunting. Rental gold pan and other equipment are available here.
Toilets currently out of order due to covid.
The Oberon Visitors Information Centre is well worth a visit.
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Debra provided some great local tips about fossicking and local wildlife. The office is able to provide a fossicking kit including shovel and pans etc for a hire fee of $20. The turn off from the main road onto the unsealed track to the Porters Retreat fossicking site when we went had some pretty big holes in it. This could have been challenging for regular city cars.
Debra also mentioned that there were wild kangaroo mobs nearby in the bush area near the golf course and dam. We were lucky to see when we went. Let them know if you are interested in wildlife. Jenolan Caves and the majestic Kanangra – Boyd National Park are just a stones throw away and they can give you plenty of tips.
Thanks!
Always fabulous friendly service at Oberon Visitor Information with the best up to date advice of what's happening in and around Oberon. 10 stars
Staff were very friendly, informative, knew the local area and were passionate about the area. We had a great day fossicking with the kids and the information centre staff were very helpful.
Two lovely and very knowledgeable ladies helped us with our enquiries about this beautiful region around Oberon and surrounding districts. Very helpful with recommending bushwalking tracks and fishing spots. Had a lot of good maps and pamphlets on the region.
It was really useful dropping into the Cowra Information Centre, and the staff member was very helpful and showed us the many sights in and around Cowra worth seeing. Many thanks.
