It is unfortunate that I have to say that Dr Olds is more concerned with his own wellbeing than he is with the wellbeing of his patients.

After attending my mother's house for a house call that I had organized because I could not convince my mother to see her doctor (she was elderly and suffering from dementia) Dr Olds informed me I was not to ask him to make a house call again as my mother had a number of cats and he had noticed one of the cats looking at him and he had found the cats stare "disturbing". I to say the least was less than impressed.
My mother had just suffered a transient ischemic attack and needed assistance.

After taking my mother to a cardiac specialist, that specialist arranged for special new medication not yet on the PBS at that time to be delivered to Dr Olds office for me to pickup. For reasons unknown the specialist could not get the new medication delivered straight to my mothers house, which would have been preferable. The medication was sent unusually through Aus Post.
Apparently Dr Olds surgery was unattended when delivery was attempted so the package went to the post office in the next street for pickup.
I was not notified and could not have picked it up anyway as it was not addressed to me. Only Dr Olds or his staff could pick it up.

Some Time later I was notified to come to Dr Olds office to collect the medication. On arrival I was berated by Dr Olds for having inconvenienced him by making such an arrangement whereby he had to go to the post office to pick up my mother's medication. He then handed me a opened, tampered with and disorganized package that had been intended for my mother.

I had not organized the delivery of this medication in any way, it was in fact totally out of my control and completely the arrangement of the cardiac specialist and the drug manufacturer. But Dr Olds blamed me for his inconvenience. He does not know or understand the arrangements of his own medical system.

My mother was elderly, had suffered a mini stroke, had dementia, was incontinent, could not cook, clean or attend to any daily duties herself so I was her full time carer. I asked Dr Olds could he assist me in paperwork for Centrelink to apply for Carers pension. He refused point blank saying my mother doesn't need assistance and sighting his own fear of litigation, that was akin to his phobia of animals, which prevented him filling out any Centrelink forms.
So he was quite happy not to visit my mother even though she only lived 500 meters from his office, he was upset having to deal with one of his colleagues medical arrangements and he did not care about helping me care for my mother by advising Centrelink the need for financial assistance.

My advice is don't have any illness that requires new non PBS medication, don't have any in illness that requires home visits, and don't have any illnesses that requires a carer if you see Dr Olds. Otherwise you might be ok?
