North Sandwiches Cafe

Worth the hype. I ate the hot bird on white sourdough on my first day in AUS. I was jetlagged from a multi-flight trip from the US east coast, utterly starved, and this sando was just what I needed. The queue was quite reasonable and I went at just a bit after noon on a Wednesday.

*Heads up to other foreigners like me: Other reviewers mention ordering online to beat the rush, but travelers should know that you need a "valid" - i.e, Aussie - phone number to place an order on their website. Come early-ish to beat the queue.

Amazing burger and the service was reasonably quick I waited about 10 minutes during peak hour with lines almost going outside, not many places to sit but if you’re okay to go for a little walk then there’s little blocks you can sit on along George St, I ordered the smoke house burger and it’s definitely in my top 5, will be back for sure!

Come here regularly with colleagues — very fresh and generous portions. The sweet and sour pork is SO good — not oily as traditional versions but still crunchy somehow? The salad is fantastic. The bread! It can be a bit hard to eat if you have a small mouth (haha) but worth the mess. Highly recommend. There’s always a huge line.

The Portuguese chicken should be called Thai Chilli Chicken, there's literally more Chili in the sandwich than the chicken itself.

Considering the location of the shop and that there is no comfy place to sit, $15 for a sandwich is very expensive

If you love sandwiches and happen to be in Circular Quay area, do go to North Sandwiches Cafe for a good bite. I had the Chef’s recommended “Portugese Chicken sourdough sandwich “ and it is spicy but good! Cafe is located at basement and easy to miss the entrance.

Great spot for sandwiches and chips. We took them to the park nearby to eat. Solid size of sandwich/chips and great flavors.

I didn’t know sandwiches could be this amazing. The hot bird is totally worth the hype, great if you can handle spice. It’s perfectly crunchy, spicy and cheesy. The hot and blue is perfect for blue cheese lovers, and the mojo Cubano is fantastic. Every sandwich I’ve had here has blown me away, and the best part is it’s made with real ingredients and never makes me feel sick after I eat like some other food options around the CBD.

These are probably the best sandwiches and wraps in Sydney. Order online to skip the queue, but honestly waiting in line only adds to the anticipation of having such delicious food. It's fast but by god do they not compromise on quality. Forget everywhere else. Only North.

Great lunch spot and queue is not as bad as it looks. We had the hot bird, schnitzel deluxe, and fries. Chicken was crispy and
crunchy all over and fries were also crispy and good with soft steamy inside.

Kind of just okay? Not upset but the sandwiches, but they feel a bit uncohesive. Sweet and sour pork was a bit much.

Legitimately one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The sweet and sour pork was soooo good. The hot bird was also good, but I'm not a huge spice fan. I could only finish 3/4 of the sandwich for lunch and for dinner I just had the last quarter ahha. Very good value for a city lunch!

Best sandwich place in the city, portion size is good for the price you're paying, chipotle chicken wrap is a must!

They have really good sandwiches. Love this place. Get in early because the line gets enormous.

Don't have anything ready in the morning before 10.
Went in for some food at 930. They said half the menu wasn't available.
They claimed chicken is available. Then proceeded to cook it while I wait so it took 25 minutes to cook a sandwich.
Don't even bother trying to go here for anything earlier than lunchtime.

Sandwiches here are quite generous in size and made with decent ingredients. What’s more, their price is very affordable. Good choice for work lunch. Unfortunately, they do not open at weekend.

Roasted veggie sandwich is remarkable. I’m not even a vegetarian. But I just love it.

Hot bird (spicy chicken sandwich) didn’t impress me though.

You can’t expect everything to be wonderful on a menu. There are always some ordinary ones.
