Newcastle Visitor Information Centre reviews
26 Benjamin was more than helpful and his assistance was next level, we traveled from Melbourne to go to airshow and his tips were invaluable, he happens to live close to where we are staying and told us the best place to see airshow which it was, wow! Thank you so much. Btw, i did forget to set the timer, he'll understand.
Thank you, Colm.
Benjamin was great. Incredibly helpful and put us in a good mood after copping a poor Uber driver. Nice job Benjamin!
Went in to get some information and map of Newcastle city. The center has some souvenirs for sale.
My husband and i visited Newcastle and went to the Information Centre looking for local attractions as well as other areas for future travels. We found the staff there to be knowledgeable friendly and very helpful.
Worth visiting not only for some great information but for the friendly service and history of Newcastle. The gentleman we spoke to this morning was fantastic.
Friendly staff with all the information you need to enjoy one of the most beautiful parts of Australia. Many local items to buy at good prices also.
Just want to say a big thank you to the ladies on this morning - Becky and Melanie. So gracias with your time and so helpful directions, especially re where to find a great coffee! I tested their advice and can happily report they were spot on! Thank you.
I have been searching about specific information about the upcoming Newcastle 500 and in particular, the boat mooring area. After hrs of googling, searching and calling many different bodies, all without any help or a clue I was frustrated. So, I thought why not try the Visitors Information Centre, surely they would know.
I spoke to the lovely Amanda at the Newcastle Visitor's information centre. All my problems were solved in a matter of seconds by the knowledgeable and very friendly Amanda, who directed me to the correct person and supplied contact details. Made my day
Very knowledgeable very friendly new all about newcastle if u come to newcastle I recommend u go to the tourist bureau so u know what is in newcastle
The lady at the desk was cheerful, friendly and helpful, gave us a lot of information about Newcastle and surrounding areas, thankyou.
Very helpful lady gave so some great information! You are doing a great job! I followed your directions and had a great walk and a lovely time! Thank you!
I am very disappointed to find out the centre closed on Saturday 2pm.
I live in Sydney. I visited Newcastle today, 26th November 2022, Saturday. By the time I got off the light rail at Civic station at 2: 05pm and tried to find visitor information, the centre was closed.
How can the visitor centre closed so early on the weekend? If Newcastle wants to attract more visitors from other Australia cities, should the visitor centre open 7 days a week, say, from 9am to 5pm?
I called Newcastle Visitor info centre today to inquire about places to visit and spoke to Amanda, well! I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant lady who knew everything about Newcastle and surrounds and helped me immensely, also posting me local maps to help for when I arrive and was very patient with whatever queries I had, plus put my mind at ease as I'm doing my first road trip. Thank's again Amanda
Today I contacted Amanda at the centre, she got me all the information I needed and more…
She even sent me links to train and bus timetables…
This train information is impossible to access by the public….
I have spend hours searching for the past days…
I challenge anyone who like puzzles and mystery’s to find train times ex Hamilton to Sydney.
On say Sunday 8th.
To enhance the difficulty… look for a train time b4 the current time of day u are looking…
eg: if it’s 10am and you’re looking for a train for pre 10 am on any day… good luck.
It’s like being on the set of a combination “ faulty towers / Groundhog Day movie…
Thank you.thank you Amanda.
Such a helpful lady, even though we arrived 5 minutes before closing. Very informative about Newcastle and was interested in our overall tripod also able to advise about our next two stops. Outstanding customer service. Thank you!
Couldn't have been more helpful, both John & Paula were welcoming, enthusiastic and very informative.
Artist Jenny McCracken created this piece titled "Steampunk Search Engine" for Chalk the Walk Feb 12th - 21st, 2021.
Great spot with lots of people coming by to see the artwork being produced and pose for photos. Sam and Amanda in the VIC were so supportive and helpful as the artwork came to life, Thanks for having us City of Newcastle! More pics of the art trail can be seen via #newctw

I suggest that you download an app called WikiCamps Australia and read the caravan/RV folk's opinion of this council & info centre.
