I contacted Network Plumbing recently because I needed someone to locate a water leak at our property & they advertise this as one of their services. Their website shows the following comments:
“With our specialised leak detection equipment, our team can locate that leak in a flash and repair the damage today. ”

When I called Network I told them that I was aware of a water leak but didn’t know where it was but I had suspected it was outside underground. I was then told that if I pay $198 they will send someone out to find the leak. When I asked them how much time does the $198 include, I was told “until they find the leak”. They also advised that I would then be provided with a quote to fix the leak. When Roland arrived (with his Electrician offsider?) I explained that I had checked all of the obvious places inside & outside the dwelling. Despite this, he proceeded to check the inside taps, kitchen, laundry, toilets, HWS, etc (all of the obvious places my grandmother would check) & then proceeded to tell me that I needed to get a “Leak Detection Specialist” in to find the leak. Dumbfounded, I then asked him “Isn’t that what you do, it’s on your website? ” he said they have a contractor that does it & if I pay them $880 they will arrange it for me. Roland also advised that Network would deduct their $198 call out fee from the $880 if I proceed. They also advised that I need to replace the pressure valve (TPR Valve) on my HWS & it would only cost another $660 if I go ahead with the leak detection.
I got another plumber to do the HWS TPR Valve for about $250 & found a leak detection specialist myself for less than half of what Network quoted. These guys are misleading & their pricing is over the top. Whilst I can’t comment on the quality of their work as they didn’t really do anything, I can assure you that if you shop around you’ll get a much better deal without the hard-sell.
