Museums Discovery Centre / Powerhouse Castle Hill reviews
38This is the best museum I've ever went to! I came to see a replica of the Mars Rover! It was fantastic, next, I went to a place where you can make food with art supplies like coloured string, cardboard and wool sheets. There was a place where you could cut fruit and it was oddly satisfying when I cut it. I definitely recommend
Took the grandkids and had a great time. Interesting items on display with enough variety to keep them interested. Very friendly staff.
Great museum but the shop is such a disappointment, really needs more science books and such that talk about whats in the museum. Was more art books and such more then anything else.
I didn't think this would be a very good place to visit but it was actually amazing. My son had the best time seeing all of the stuff and it was amazing.
Fantastic place for young and old to wander and discover an extensive variety of objects from various collections
I recently had the pleasure of visiting this museum located in The Hills, and I must say, it was a true hidden gem! It boasts an impressive collection of items from various historic periods, covering everything from ancient artifacts to modern-day treasures.
What really sets this museum apart, however, is the quality of the guided tours. The knowledgeable and passionate guides bring the exhibits to life, providing valuable insights into each item's history and significance. It's clear that the staff is truly passionate about the museum and eager to share their knowledge with visitors.
Overall, I highly recommend the Powerhouse to anyone interested in history, art, or just looking for a fun and informative day out.
I'm so glad there is a toddler play area on the ground floor level. My 6 yo boy could explore around. My almost 2 yo daughter can just sit & play after 1 lap around the museum (we didn't really expect her to appreciate the items yet). Perfect for a quick visit. We stayed for about an hour or so. And also, they're expanding, so we're gonna be back for that! Hopefully it would still be free entry by then.
Staff was helpful and kind. The place was very clean and well maintained. It's a great insight into human history on vehicles. Learned alot about cars and how they have changed over time. Great place for families.
博物館現時可以免費入場,場內有不同嘅古董陳列在六個展覽區域,極之懷舊,非常吸引。
The museum is now free for entry. There are many different kinds of antiques displayed in 6 exhibition areas, which are nostalgic and attractive.
The museum has a fantastic display of historical vehicles and machinery. There are also activities for kids. It was a great way to spend the weekend
Rating: 8/10
Short Review: Very good, empty, massive, loads of exhibits.
Long Review: I visited here on the weekend, in which we saw some very cool objects, vehicles, ect. The space was very big, and had a 21st century feel with old objects inside, which was very nice. I did however have a couple issues. Currently, the only parking is on the campus street, and is very sparse, I have been made aware you are working on this however. Besides that, there was only small things such as not everything being labelled ect, but overall, great!
This is also part of the Powerhouse Museums (Ultimo, Parramatta by 2023 and the Sydney Observatory Park in Barangaroo). The museum is undertaking construction works to expand its museum into the nearby TAFE Castle Hill site.
Visited today with family of 2 school kids which was great for a rainy Sunday. Spent 2 hours as at 1: 30pm another section with Olympic 2000 costumes etc was opened. Parking is free. Clean toilets. Best musuem in west.

We came back again 6 months later. My now 8 year old enjoyed the exhibit as much as we did before. We spent about 3 hours here

We went there just before the 2021 lockdown and it was fantastic. My 7 year old loved it and I enjoyed it more than her. Lots of great content for kids and grown ups.
Museums Discovery Centre is a 6 Stores museum located in Castle Hill. It’s an amazing but brief collection of the history of human discoveries and progress. Much smaller than the main museum located in Sydney CBD but definitely worth to explore and enjoy its unique collections. A great choice for families with kids. Free entry with plenty of car parks. Highly recommended.
Katherine and Lola were great tour guides today. Fantastic collection, we will definitely be back!
Very good Museum. Very well maintained and the staff is amazing.
They also engage visitors by having a game like "Guess the Object". Even small event it was very well handled and even encouraged young one to participate.
Would definitely recommend! Kudos to the staff once again!
Fantastic Discovery Museum it’s lovely to have a walk around and just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere get to see all the old tvs, steam trains, sewing machines, gas cookers, old kettles, type writers, phones, fridges, old cars, motorbikes, bicycles, interesting thing about museum you get to see fossils and skeletons of reptiles and birds that was very awesome to see. Absolutely enjoyed it lovely experience great to experience and well worth visiting again!
Our family of 6 really enjoyed visiting this place, plenty to see and lovely tour guides.
We will definitely be visiting again.
Fantastic! Awesome! Almost Amazing and Free! If you're like us and love the Power House museum, then you'll love this place. It's a storage facility for some of the other museums.
On a rainy Saturday we found this place. The staff were really informative, happy, helpful and warm (my partner's word).
If your kids like looking at cars, trains, toys, models, animals, robots and everything in-between or if you're like me and like classic cars and motorcycles then check out this museum, a pretty good way to spend a couple of hours with the fam.
