Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA) reviews
21I highly recommend visiting this museum, we really enjoyed our visit this afternoon. There were many artworks to provoke your thinking. Thank you Louise and Belinda for welcoming us! Love from Melbourne
Always outstanding thought invoking artworks, many from National Galleries on loan, this is a perhaps unexpected find in the heart of Albury in southern country NSW (Wiradjuri nation). The current exhibition on level 1 creatively showcases indigenous perspectives about colonisation and survival in Australia with one artist "role swapping" images of Cook "discovering" Australia with an Aboriginal figures dressed as a red coat with telescope surveying 'new lands' complete with native animals at foot. Top Cafe adjacent. Well worth a look.
Lovely gallery space and recommend the art classes running each semester. Helpful friendly staff. Close to Canvas Restaurant or lots of local eateries on Dean Street.
What a wonderful space. The exhibitions were interesting and the staff were wonderful. A fantastic array of documentaries which runs all day. A great place for the kids as well.
Perfect place to visit for kids which lies in Albury central surrounded by shops, park and lots of restaurants and park
This Museum is fun and free. It’s small and the staffs here are friendly. There are 5 small cupboards you can find in this museum and I enjoyed finding all of them.
A great little art museum. An interesting variety of exhibits in a lovely building and with friendly attendants.
Its a small art gallery in middle of Albury. Its spacious. Staff are very friendly and supportive. If yoy have small kids and time worth visiting. It doesnt have parking. Its collection is limited and have contemporary art.
Sadly I must say I was incredibly disappointed in the Albury art gallery. The standard of paintings was underwhelming. I enjoy art from the competence of the artist and his mastery of the paintbrush. Many of these paintings looked like the work produced on the first day of primary school.
If you are into modern art, it's a good place. Bit small one though.
There is also a Library museum behind this. It's a great one. Full of history and interesting stories!
A very interesting selection of art works. Surprisingly fun activities for kids and incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. Well worth a visit!
I really enjoyed it. It’s exhibits change often so their is always new things to see. I believe it is free entry. They also have a great restaurant.
Incredible art, artistic capabilities displayed with brilliant ideas conveyed and reflected on the canvas. Excellent friendly staff who were very knowledgeable and easy to approach on my walkabout in this spectacular local gallery. Recommend, much love to MAMA
Local art museum located in what used to be the town hall. Aptly features a good number of indigenous arts. Well designed contemporary space features cleverly located surprise cupboards that children can discover. Charming, friendly and kind museum staff. Gallery gift shop features a good collection of books and novelties. Also has a cafe attached to the building. Opens up to the local park and is interesting architecturally.
Modern art isn't really my thing, but the free exhibition here was interesting and somewhat thought provoking.
Lots to look at! Don’t eat before you go.loads of food options to choose from. Fresh veggies and fruit to buy. Can take a rug and chill and listen to some music. Lots of interesting food options - hubby was in food heaven. Interesting little nick naks for sale, seems that right hand side of the market is new and left hand is the traditional "boot sale" with second hand goods.
Really, really well developed with plenty of space for art displays - supporting local artists as well. Volunteer guides to help. Kids love the little 'art cupboards' with 3D art displays inside. Will return.
I dont know who is picking the displays but lift your game. For a multi dollar art museum for Albury whats been there lately is terrible, a kid could do better. And as for that recycle dislay by that artist who made things out of plaster of paris. I think you need a new curator.
Situated in the main street of Albury it is a great museum which houses different exhibitions throughout the year. It is modern and well looked after. There is a small shop and permanent collection of gallery items. I score it a 5 as the exhibitions that I have seen here e.g. Marilyn Monroe collection was superb. Great local museum.
