Mr and Mrs Elias - Apartment Renovations

Jan and his team were amazing to deal with. Although my renovations were minor/cosmetic, Jan had a tight time line to completion in December and prior to Christmas, 9 days to be specific. Needless to say, the team got it done on time and with excellent results.

Some of the work carried out in less than 10 days was:
- Knocking down a load bearing wall to open up the living and dining room in the house, including the re-painting of both rooms. Cornices were all kept to the original type and make
- Repurposing and re-installing power points to make them accessible between both rooms
- Re-sanding and polishing of floor, ensuring the new timber needing installation where the wall was matched
- Ceiling pendants installation
- Down lights installation
- Installing a new stove top and converting from electrical to gas (gas pipe run to kitchen from gas main also)
- TV hanging install

This was all carried out in a professional and friendly manner, Jan always kept me abreast of any development or challenges, but also, always made sure he anticipated things and ensured I had input on decisions needed. For example, I had a vision of changing the flooring in the rooms but Jan advised against it as the quality of floors was in great condition, which saved time.

Another important aspect I wanted to highlight is how they behaved in the neigbourhood. To this day, I still get people in the street complimenting the team's behaviour and friendliness throughout their engagement here which speaks greatly on the culture by which Jan runs his company.

We have owned a small city apartment for 34 years.
Apart from the occasional painting and carpet replacement there has been no effective maintenance done during that time. When it became vacant last year (because of (COVID) our real estate agent (Boutique Property Management) suggested we consider a complete renovation and recommended we talk with Mr & Mrs Elias
They showed us two (quite impressive) recent renovations that they had done and when they proffered a competitive quote we immediately accepted. We were not disappointed. The principals, Jan and Georgina, did all the administrative work including working with strata.
During construction, James, the project manager, was extremely helpful, assisting us with various choices, showing us many options and allowing us to change our mind if the need arose. Nothing was a problem for him and any complaints we had were immediately resolved in our favour.
Needless to say that the end result is perfect and it is our opinion that this unit has to be one of the best one bedroom apartments in Sydney.
This is vindicated by the above market price achieved for its rental.
Obviously we are very pleased with this perfect renovation.

We are VERY happy with our experiencing working with Sydney Renovations Hire. Jarn and his Team did an AMAZING job with our apartment. The whole apartment was gutted and re-done top-to-bottom, including: removal of a bearing wall, two full bathrooms, kitchen, master bedroom with a walk in wardrobe, media room/second bedroom, laundry, and creating a new study/storage area that was not in the original apartment. It’s a beautiful totally new apartment now.

Jarn and his team were fantastic; the entire process was a pleasure, Jarn worked closely with us at each step of the process. We had weekly site meetings to discuss the goals for the week and to resolve any issue as they would come up. This helped to keep the project moving along so that they could finish on-time – which they did. 10 weeks, the whole apartment, done! Happy)

This was our first time renovating an apartment and we were a little bit concerned because of all the horror stories you hear about. We approached three different companies (one which was recommended to us). One company said, “Too hard”, the other didn’t include painting and some other things, but Sydney Renovations’ quote included the total cost of the renovation up front.

Where to begin? We could not be happier with our decision to go ahead and approve the quote Jarn had prepared for us. We were quite unsure what to expect and so we went ahead and had 4 different companies quote our apartment renovation. Jarn's quote came in a little higher than the rest and we were quite tempted to go for the cheaper option but luckily we followed our gut instinct based on Jarn's energy and care factor. From the get go, the entire process was explained clearly and we were always updated on every single step of the renovation. If we ever needed to chat after hours, Jarn was available for this and if not, we had Georgina who would cover. We were never left in the dark and this was one of our fears starting the renovation as we had heard many horror stories from friends. Having 2 people available to communicate with regarding the progress of our apartment renovation made our days much easier so thanks again!

Other than the great people behind the work, the actual results of our now amazingly perfect apartment is why we are here. Everything was completed to the highest standard and whenever we had an unexpected issue.and we did have a few of them; the team were quick to firstly, help destress my partner who is a major stress head ;P then move on to quickly resolve the issue - again we are grateful for these efforts and the care that we experienced.

I'll preface to say, this might be the hardest review I've ever had to write! I wanted to write a review that offers an accurate reflection of the incredible attention to detail, and impeccable quality that Jarn expressed throughout his time managing our renovation. It turns out, it's really f*cking hard just to write a review that I feel matches the quality of his work, I have no idea how Jarn managed to do the same thing, at a consistently high level on our pride and joy for weeks on end!

So, what made us feel this way and be so incredibly satisfied with the work Jarn delivered?
First, some background: We started out just planning a kitchen and bathroom reno, and although we wanted more, had the time pressure of a baby on the way and didn't want to have a blown out timeline wind up with us moving back home after the birth.

- Patience
- Unrelenting drive to get the job done.

Jarn has all three in spades! He always made himself available to discuss ideas with us, and share his insight about how things would fit together, and his experience from previous projects. Even with deadlines looming and him really needing an answer, Jarn made sure we had all the facts to make a balanced decision that we'd be happy with. I found this trait of Jarn's, bringing us deeply into the discussion and informing our decisions, to be really valuable.

Combine these traits with an incredible team, and you are set for success!

Another thing I have to comment on is how tidy the workspace was, throughout the project. We often came back to the apartment to check on progress, and everything was packed away and organised, ready for the next day. All around the job site, Jarn had pasted pictures of the design drawings so the team knew exactly what the end goal would look like, and made us excited looking at the progress of the work!

During the course of the project we added significant scope, without flexibility in our move-in date. Even under incredible pressure Jarn maintained his positive outlook, and didn't compromise quality to get things done in time. And, we made our target date!

I thoroughly recommend Jarn for any renovation or building work. From planning to maintenance, we were extremely impressed in the impeccable quality and professionalism of Jarn and his team, and even months later still light up with smiles when we look at our awesome new kitchen!
