Minjungbal Aboriginal Cultural Centre reviews
23Ring walk good. Disappointing that the boardwalk was closed due to falling into disrepair.
Went on a sunday and the info centre was closed (no complaints - we did zero research, just needed a baby comfort stop while travelling).
The walk around the grounds was quite lovely. I formative signs.
Sections of the mangrove board walk are so damaged that it's closed. Hopefully this can be repaired soon.
Great place for a walk, visit & coffee has nature walks & a indigenous nursery with very interesting plants
Went here yesterday and looked through the museum. Plenty of interesting information. Due to the respect of passed people your not allowed to take photos in the museum but you can take pictures in the gift shop.
A little bit run down at present and the Boardwalk is closed due to flood damage. The cultural centre closes at 3 o’clock and has a cash only entry fee. The Bora walk is pleasant but unsuitable for persons with a walking disability. Many tripping hazards.
My wife and I found the visit to the Museum very informative. One of the best Aboriginal cultural displays that I have been to. My only regret is that photography inside the museum was not permitted which limits the amount of information that can be retained and reduces the social benefit to the community at large.
We went there for a family's wake on Monday an it was an awsum spot have to take the grandkids there wen it's open
It's a bit unusual having to pay cash - but this is quite an interesting display. It tells many stories but I was moved by the lady who working often alone, preserved the Bora ring. This is a great contrast to the development around this area. It was a shame that the mangrove work was closed for repirs etc.
A lot of local history shared. Has great accessibility for mobility and amenities. Polite & knowledgeable hosts.
There was nobody at reception when we arrived and no indication of an entry fee so we went on in and halfway through the museum we were approached for payment. They only take cash or a bank transfer. The museum is very small and dreary - not worth the $10.00 entry fee. Admittedly it had rained a lot so parts of the boardwalk were closed when we visited but to our surprise an abusive drug addict appeared out of nowhere five minutes into our walk causing us to turn back. All in all, quite disappointing.
Bad bits first - sand flies AND mozzies, poor upkeep of the boardwalk and info signage, parts of the bush track are neglected, overrun with grass and hard to follow. Overall, if you take the Aeroguard and watch your step - it’s a good spot to take a wander around.
Great museum, doesn’t look flash but the stories, photos and artefacts are great and gives you a real feel for how local people lived. Worth the entry price and make sure you do the free bushwalk too
It was closed but still did the walk on the river walk. Enjoyed the walk despite the hundreds of mossies.:)
The Walk On Water track was under water today at midday due to Cyclone Oma and the high tide. This is normally a beautiful spot for a walk or a rest out of the wind.
A great place to visit with your kids. This is center is open on limited days and it's opening times are in NSW times. If you are traveling from Queensland you need to factor this. Unfortunately I got my timing wrong and missed a chance to see the centre. But the staff was very friendly to direct me to the nearby walking track which offers amazing views.
Beautiful walkboard trail through mangrove forest. Info boards along the track. Lovely museum, people and firepit and picknick place.
A beautiful place to walk around silently in the Mangrove Woods and if lucky sight few water birds
What a hidden gem. Peace and Serenity. One of the signs says. Block the noise from the traffic and the odd plane and imagine an Aboriginal man in a dug out canoe spearing fish. The Walk on Water Track, is great, and the bird life for such a small area is fantastic. Well worth the visit.
Tranquility peaceful very spiritual connection to local Aboriginal people. Well supported community museum. Love their place Great setup.
