I only come here because it's bulk billing (only if you have been here within the year, else you pay) but service is awful and most doctors are not that good, I would not recommend coming here for anything serious or if you want a proper check up. Receptionist sometimes are okay, sometimes grumpy. Depends who you get.
Don't see Dr Jonathan Boey if you need referral for Medicare rebate for EPC, for kids speech therapy etc. He will give you the referral with a side of attitude and a lecture to make you feel like a criminal. He thinks ppl like us shouldn't get it, it's only for severe cases. It's only 5 x $50 rebates per year, the sessions cost 180+ per hour! It's not a lot, not like NDIS! See Dr Leslie Vago. He is more compassionate.

I don't normally write a review but after reading all of these bad ones I had to share my experience.

I was happy to pay the one off fee of $120 and then after that bulk bill. All other surgery's charge at least $70 every time you go there.

Every doctor I have seen has been great and I have no issues.

I noticed that the reception staff are extremely attentive, especially to the older generation that they seem to know well. Always asking 'how are you feeling? , how is the family? Etc etc

And as for waiting, I have no issue with that. Because everyone before me is there because they are sick and need assistance and I am happy to wait my turn. As someone mentioned try going to emergency and being seen before 7 hours.

Contrary to Shaun's glowing post below, yes the care and validation is wonderful - when you actually get it. I've been coming to this surgery for over 20 years and, yes, the wait times are mostly horrendous, even if the appt is scheduled, but what I wasn't expecting was this:

INT. MEDICAL CENTRE - AFTERNOON

Patient (me) walks to reception desk.

Receptionist: (smiling) We're closed.

Patient: What do you mean?

Rcpt: It's Sunday. We close at 2.

Patient: But you don't close on Sunday at 2.

Rcpt: No. Just today. There's only one doctor and she's leaving at 2.

Patient scratches head at being turned away. She walks back out, dumbfounded. Patient is done with this surgery and it shows.

*

So basically you present at 2 on a Sunday (knowing they close at 5). Door showcases an "OPEN" sign, slides to the left for you to enter, only to be told 'We're closed. ' This pretty much sums up this surgery.

More than 2hours waiting to see a lady dr. I put my name down from 1030am and reception told me there would be only 4-7 waiting and to return after 330pm but more were let in before me. Seems like i was deliberately let almost last in line and im in personal pain. Initially was told to wait from 330.

I routinely see Dr Boey here, and he provides excellent care. He's polite, patient, and has always treated me well. I know that a lot of reviews here comment on wait times, but at the end of the day this is a bulk-billing clinic that does not expect you to make appointments. I'll keep coming back.

Ive only had good experiences here. Yes. The wait times can be a bit long sometimes. But Im sure Drs have a lot of bureaucratic admin to do before, between and after patients. The Dr I see, Dr Boey I think, is a lovely, worldly man who has proven to me he knows his stuff. Busy receptionists have always been fine too. Straight to the point.

The prescription is great. But waiting hours is terrible. If you’re in pain, please don’t come here. You might die out of the pain. The doctors or the staffs never cared about your pain. I waited 2 hours in pain and it wasn’t even crowded! There were only b2 patients before me.

Staff are rude and unprofessional.
I have never seen a gp practice so bad…. How can they even let these places to exist…?
Third world standard or worst.
A short consultation will cost you $120 with a doctor who would examine you by looking at you across the table…
Medicare reimbursed me $40
outrageous,

This pratice slaps existing paitents with a $120 "new paitent" fee if you dont see the doctor often enough.

I needed a walk in appointment after I developed severe pain in my ear at work. I called to ask if they had walk in appointments available and they said yes come down. It wasn't until I'd gotten all the way there that they explained there is a "new paitent" fee of $120, on top of the appointment fee. I am an existing paitent, and explained this, however, they said it had been too long since my last appiontment and I needed to pay the fee. I wish they had told me this on the phone when i called, I wouldn't have wasted all that time travelling while in excruciating pain and would have gone to another doctor. I feel like they wait until you're through the door and desperate for help before slapping you with a massive fee that just isn't affordable, and punish people who don't need to see the doctor often. As a generally healthy young person, i will never come back.

My main complaint is that some doctors at this practice are never on time and arrive at least half an hour late. Not only are they always so very late, but then they do not see any patient for another 15 to 30 minutes. They never apologise for being late or delayed. And on top of all that, there is a long gap between patients which means that the doctor sits in their office alone, doing goodness knows what. No wonder I always have to wait hours. I actually feel sorry for the receptionists who have to answer questions about when the doctor will finally arrive and or see a patient. I am surprised that no other reviewers have mentioned this problem of doctors’ lateness and their lack of respect for sick people’s time. I am writing this with the hope that the Owners and Managers of this Medical Centre will read this review and take steps to rectify this problem.

I just noticed that I got overcharged after my visit on Sunday so I called to fix it. “Sabina” the receptionist responded in a very arrogant tone and careless attitude saying that she doesn’t work on the weekends therefore is not her problem and that she doesn’t know how much they charge on weekends ‍️ to call tomorrow or another day. She was rude, unprofessional: 0 costumer service.

The hard working, kind people that keep this medical centre running deserve far more credit than they get. I've been a patient of Marrickville Metro Medical Centre for 6 years and I've always felt heard, validated and cared for. The quality of care has always been worth the wait.
If you find yourself leaving a poor review or bullying the staff because of the long wait time you're probably the same kind of person that would complain because your consultation was rushed and you expected the doctor to spend more time with you.
If you're after a walk in, walk out service with no wait time and a long consultation you should consider goibg somewhere that charges a co-payment, or just keep your misogynistic outbursts to yourself for the benefit of everyone else in the waiting room.

If you want to be properly misdiagnosed/mistreated, suffer in agony in the waiting room and have an unpleasant and rude interaction with reception, then this is the perfect place
I give it ZERO stars if I had the option
Please review what your job entails thanks but no thanks

The receptionists are consistently combative, rude and unpleasant.
Just my opinion and my partner and family feels the same.
The saving grace is Dr Johnathan Boey. He is competent thoughtful and thorough.
Also they’re a bit rich charging $1 for a mask, making money from covid.
I would have thought that to be a running cost or a business expense.
I am there now and it’s no fun.

Our usual GP in Marrickville was closed today. Went to this surgery and unfortunately got seen by Dr Jonathon Boley who was unprofessional and rude. Had to get a blood test to check on my Vitamin D and he said it was wasting money but needed to be done from a medical perspective. Hmmmm.
