Mercure Sydney reviews
45I chose this place because of its good location. It's convenient for travelers as it's close to Central Station and a bus stop. The city tour bus is also close by. The rooms are okay
From the arrival experience, the consistent personalised service even in the early hours were impressive. Even my check out experience was intimate and personable. Definitely return.
It's so convenient. Only a few minutes walk from the central station, bus and tram stop. Various restaurant, cafe and stores are there.every Staff is so friendly and kind.
The air conditioning (ac) is hopeless as it turns itself off in the middle of the night as it is linked to a motion sensor, which means when you don’t move during you sleep, the ac turns itself off! It did that even during daytime when we were working stationary at the desk! And when it turns itself on again by our movement, it is preceded by a loud beep which will wake everyone up in the middle of the night! When probed, your staff maintained that there is no motion sensor, which shows how well your staff knows how your own building works! You really should upgrade to those keycard-initiated energy saving mechanism like any other hotels.
Comfortable stay having the extra hour made a difference as my daughter wasn't feeling her best has she needed more sleep.
Luggage care the next day was convenient too. Will definitely stay again.
A nice hotel in a good location close to the train station and cafes/ restaurants. Rooms are spacious however not much view outside as there are other buildings close to it. Good buffet breakfast. Also has a bar with good variety of drinks. Gym, sauna and swimming pool on the roof top. Staff were friendly.
The staff are very pleasant and obliging. Happy to help with any difficulty of request. King bed very comfortable and breakfast buffet very nice and caters for various cultures. Enjoyed our fourth stay in 15 months.
We are at day 8 of our quarantine. Our stay here has been great so far. The daily meals are delicious and of good variety. The hotel service team is courteous and attentive; health care providers are professional and friendly. And to top it all off, I received a pleasant surprise yesterday, a special birthday dessert and balloon from Akshay Arora and team.:) Thank you Mercure!
I’m coming to the end of a 14 quarantine at this hotel. Whilst I have had some challenges with a few things not working in the room, the staff have been nothing short of amazing.
For those who are arriving in Australia, scared at what your stay may be like, please remember that this hotel is up to scratch and the staff work hard to make you as comfortable as can be.
Food is plentiful and your fridge will overflow with extras.
They have extra condiments available with a simple phone request (Vegemite, peanut butter, jam, etc). I suggested these are supplied on the first days breakfast with a little note saying more available on request.
I asked for some and around 10 of each arrived in under 30 mins.
Whilst the majority of the rooms (all rooms except the few balcony ones) don’t have open windows, I would highly recommend ordering a humidifier on Amazon or via a local chemist and getting it delivered. It helped enormously with the dry air one can expect from air conditioning.
The doctor on-site approved the humidifiers use and they are safe to use. A real life saver.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable.
Only feedback to the hotel is supply the guest a soft pillow as standard as well as the usual firm ones. In the end they delivered a spare and this helped with sleeping.
Would be nice to see a dedicated Netflix and Amazon app on the TVs but I ended up connecting my laptop via HDMI. Internet connection was stable enough for good streaming.
They supply free internet (unlimited) at around 5 mbits (up and down). Not majorly fast, but more than enough to do your work.
I have included a few images of the food and some of the funny things supplied by the maintenance team.
If you are “held” here, consider yourself lucky that you have a wonderful team that really does care and can cater for your needs during your “captivity”.
To the entire team at Mercure. Thank you for a wonderful stay and helping me with the special deliveries that allowed me to rest the extended hours I needed.
Daniel.
The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our entire stay. The food was good and the room was spacious and very clean and modern.
I did quarantine back in February and the staff at this hotel were very accommodating, everyone did the best they could with the situation. The food was actually pretty good compared to a what a lot of other hotels got, I was for the most part quite happy with it. Got a bit of Stockholm Syndrome after leaving, started missing my hotel room and regular meal delivery!
We just finished 14 days quarantine and have nothing but praise for the staff and the experience. Every request was accommodated. Every interaction was cheerful and positive. The food was great, with the kitchen being flexible to our specific requests. Coffee was available on order. Really great (circumstances considered) and many thanks to all the fantastic staff.
I havent stayed here but my mother was here during her quarantine and from what I could see she was being looked after. We went to drop off some stuff for her and they quickly grabbed our bags and delivered them to her room before we had left the street.
As part of the international arrivals quarantine, I had to spend 14 days at Mercure Sydney. Being an All Accor member, I was very disappointed with the room cleanness upon arrival. Such things should top the list especially during a pandemic.
Staff are amazing. Incredibly helpful to me. And the cafes tucked away in the streets nearby are really worth seeing. One of my favourite Sydney hotels.
I called to confirm the check out time of my friend. Reception desk. Mostly a terribly negative and frustrating exchange.
Absolutely loved it!
We had hotel quarantine here and just WOW.
From the friendly service, to the delicious food and everything inbetween, we were so happy to be placed here.
Our room was rather large with a beautiful panoramic view over the city.
The aircon was on 24/7 (we could adjust it at any time) and it always felt fresh in the room, even on day 14.
The hotel had daily activities for us and were so attentive to our wants and needs.
We can't wait to return as holidayers and be able to enjoy all of the gorgeous amenities listed in the website.
Highly recommend.
If you're lucky enough to get placed here for quarantine - lay back and relax!
What a treat!
Friendly, helpful and understanding staff. The room was pretty good and a pretty fine view too. Definitely look forward to visiting again with the family.
Here for 14 day quarantine. Hotel staff put effort into food, activities and other nice touches to help you get through it)
I am here for 14 days compulsory quarantine. The hotel services was quite good at the beginning. When I asked receptionist for a few green tea bags and they brought me the following meal. They are really delicious, made from fresh leaves
