McGuigan Wines Cellar Door reviews
43 A truly 5-star experience at a 5-star Hunter Valey cellar door. We were treated to a great selection of wines (whatever we like) and surprisingly (pleasantly), we enjoyed almost all of them!
Between 4 of us, we ended up buying 14 bottles to take home and 2 more to have on the night during our road trip! I have been to wineries around Australia and this is, by far, the most wine I have ever bought from a single winery and I think that says it all!
I highly recommend their Noon Shiraz and the Carmenere - two very easy drinking reds that I have not found in many other places.
I'll definitely be back for more:)
Steve stepped Ben and I through the Mcguigan’s tasting list this afternoon and we can confirm what a HUGE asset he is to your team! We have always loved McGuigans and Steve taught us so much more about our much-loved favourite brand. Looking forward to enjoying the 20 bottles we left with ;) keep up the great work!
Love the products. Hate that I lately, struggle to open the caps. Sump plugs & wheel bearings are easier. Resorted to multigrips earlier this week. Why?
We have been to this cellar door 3 times since 2020 most recently December 2023. Each time the person who has taken us through the wine tasting has been absolutely wonderful. Very informative about the wines, letting us take our time with the tasting and so very friendly. Have found lovely wines to buy without any pressure. Would highly recommend this cellar door.
If you are tasting at McGuigan's, ask for Terry. He is knowledgeable & makes excellent recommendations.
As for the wines, I was the driver escorting my international business guests around so I was unable to taste on site but Terry did recommend an absolutely smashing Chenin Blanc which went beautifully with roast pork on Sunday.
My guests bought plenty of wine to take home to South Africa with them & were very happy with the tasting session.
Enjoyable wine tasting with AMG Mike. Was hard to leave without too many bottles in our bags! Such a nice tasting area as well
Received a bottle from a friend who loves this winery. Don’t understand why but the wine tastes like bad lemonade. The bottle says 11% alcohol but after finishing a bottle by myself on one evening I can still count to 100 effortlessly. Astonished. My girlfriend likes wine but even gave up after 2 sips.
One of the best wine tasting experience! Krista was very helpful and passionate about wines. We ended up buying 6bottles after tasting! Highly recommended.
Our lovely neighbour booked a wine tasting on 26AUG23 and we were fortunate to have the very attentive and engaging Terry as our host. He was very knowledgeable and informative about the history of the vineyard and of the wines on offer for tadting. We thoroughly enjoyed his company and our time and would very highly recommend Terry for a tasting experience.
Good place to have a taste of different vintage before grabbing a bottle. The host was very warm and professional. Engaging enough without intruding much into our own conversation and deliberation. Atmosphere is quite unique to others in the area—less country, more modern, sophisticated feel without making it too intimidating.
We visited yesterday and were served by Margo.
So much fun tasting different wines!
Excellent and friendly service! Could fault it! We had a wonderful time.
Thank you Margo.

I had a wine tasting with Terry and he was the best. He had so many great stories and fun facts. Definitely a must do when in the Hunter Valley.
Staff were great. Terry was awesome in explaining the wine and recommended Ben ean to go have some food which was superb. Bought a lot of wines at Mcguigan thank you.
Had a great time. We booked the 25$ one and got 3 white wines 6 reds 3 dessert wines each. Jeff was excellent in explaining everything. Wine were great too.
Sampling counters just ignore the people standing there. One of the old guy when spoken was very rude. One younger woman was good.
Had a very very rushed tasting this past Monday. Truly bizarre. Lasted less than 10 minutes and then we were told it was done? Usually wineries will go over their more popular wines/history but we had to coax that information from our pourer. The women who assisted us was a little abrasive and unfriendly. We did buy the Malbec because it was decent, but really disappointed since this was a highly recommended winery and drove out of the way to come here.
Had such an amazing group tasting with Terry. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We cannot wait to go back. Thank you Terry!
My mother is 84 years old and she insisted on coming here. She knows her wines and what she likes. We always are attached to the late picked which is almost a white port but so much better, this is fantastic chilled. We left buying a dozen wines and then some. The coffee crème is exceptional. The wonderful lady who gave us her attention was brilliant. She has the gift of talking freely, we hope her solar panels are installed as she likes them.
Outstanding service during our wine tasting experience today with Mike. We were very impressed with the selection offered as he carefully selected wines to taste after listening to our feedback. An asset to McGuigans.
Lovely experience with knowledgeable staff and a great selection of wines made from grapes both local and from further afield. The Verdelho and Carmenere were the stand outs for me but there's plenty of quality throughout. The Philosophy is stunning (if it's on tasting at the time).
