We have made our purchase through the Huntlee office and cant express how helpful the sales team have been, Robert and Kurt have been very responsive to queries and show a lot of expertise in the field. "Highly recommended"

MJH takes very long time to build and management doesn’t care about you interest you are paying on land or house you are renting and request emails. They don’t answer.
House started to construct on May 2022. In total 13 month the construction of house is only 25% finished after signing contract on Sept 2021. There are builder out in the market who finish the beautiful house in six months
I do not recommend McDonald jones homes.

Terrible experience building my first home with mcdonald jones. Signed paperwork mid 2020 and its still not finished. Once they get their money they stop pretending to care and make everything as hard as possible. Strongly regret building with this company!

I have been waiting almost 12 months to have a faulty bathroom water proofing repaired.
Water proofing has failed and in turn damaged the structure and downstairs ceiling.
McDonald Jones have sent their technicians to inspect and repair multiple times, without any action or repairs being done.
They are blaming their trades.
Their lack of competence in booking trades is not my problem.
My home is damaged because of their inability to install water proofing properly.
I have taken multiple days off for their so called booked trades people to come and repair and then for them to never show up to bookings.
Elizabeth from customer care NSW has my details.

We have 2 parts to this review. 1st part is why do I hear my upstairs toilet flushing noises in my theatre room. This should not be the case as the display home does not do this. And before you respond with a did you ask for any insulation upgrades this was never raised or asked in the contracts signing. If we were advised of this issue we would have opted for it but when building a brand new home with one of the best home builders and expect to have the toilet flushing noise be projected down into our theatre room you would think someone would advise of this issue which shouldnt be even there. I want this addressed by MJH as soon as possible.
Now for issue 2:
We Submitted our warranty faults March 2022 and still yet to have items addressed. I was happy with the process leading into the build and completion and understand the challenges they face due to staff shortages which has plagued the workforce but seriously wating 6 months to get things done is somewhat taking the Mickie out of us. It's easy to ask for the money before they hand the keys to the house but hard to answer warranty request and we have no control with when where or how our issues will be addressed.

I expected a higher level of attention from MJH as they do class themselves as 1 of the best builders in the market. This reputation should be held from start to end not just when you receive your funds.

Brody from the Illawarra has been so great to deal with and we look forward to seeing our built come to life.

Was going to purchase our home from MJ, however their constant commercials are beyond a joke snd borders on harassment. Every tine we turn the tv on we are bombarded by their $50 grand discount. Enough with the commercials! Looked closely at their display homes - all white, or floor plans and the display constructions appeared dodgy at best

We settled with masterdon homes - grange plan at a excellent price

To be honest, it has not been a pleasant experience during our selections process, but I hoped that once we get final construction plans to sign of on we can clarify a lot there.
I am extremely disappointed to say the least, and really not looking forward to continuing this process of building our brand new home.

My daughter and her partner build their house with this builder, a lot of dissapointment from the start up until the completion. The house keys has been handed over and the remaining balance has been paid off.there are still outstanding job need to complete as part of the package, front yard landscaping and driveway rectification.they been promised to have it completed.setting up a date to finish but doesnt show up, doesnt answer their call and doesnt return their call either.
I told them to report the matter to fair trading. I hope this matter will resolved soon. I wouldn't recommend this builder to any of my friends and relatives.

The best builder in Syndey. Staff are very nice and co operative. Job No 605778. Project coordinator Benji and Operation Manager Roberts. Specially thanks for them. After handover support not good, taking to much time to fix up the issue and need to chase up again again for every small repair. Poor quality home appliance provided at Kitchen. Rangehood company ARTUSI not giving support to fix the issue. Not happy after handover service.

I sent 4 x online enquiries and never heard back once. Radio silence. I can only imagine what the building process and experience would be like if that's your customer service level.

Update 05/06/2020: Service & Support is Shocking. Here's why:

Emailed through a request to Service and Warranty on 7 May 2020 stating: 'The other day, a gust of wind blew open one of our linen closet doors. Upon close inspection, one side of the latch to this door is bent, resulting in the latch not properly latching onto the door to keep in firmly in place. I have attached a picture of the latch. I can but assume that this latch has always been broken like this and we simply didn’t notice it until now. I have also attached a video showing how the door opened and damaged the adjoining linen closet door due to this faulty latch. Can you please organise for the repair of both the latch and the damage to the adjoining door? '

Now I would expect them to be fully supportive and helpful as they had been up until now. After all, I paid a premium going with McDonald Jones. Boy was I wrong!

This was the response on 11 May 2020 to my email above: 'Given that the damaged was caused to the roller catch by the wind this would not be considered warranty, however, out of good will I am happy to have my servicemen leave one in your letter box for you to fit at your leisure. '

Not sure what to make of this inaccurate email, my reply the same day was: 'To clarify, the gust of wind could not have caused the damage to the roller catch, as the wind blew the door open, not slam it shut. The most likely scenario seems to be that the roller catch was installed defectively. As per my original email on 7 May 2020, I can but assume roller catch has always been broken like this and we simply didn’t notice it until now as the door has always closed as it does now. We haven’t had any reason to inspect the roller catch until the gust of wind that day revealed it was broken as the broken roller catch didn’t prevent the linen closet door from swinging open and thus also causing the damage to the adjoining linen closet door. Since this is clearly a valid warranty claim, please organise to replace the defective roller catch and fix the damage to the adjoining linen closet door. '

So at this point I'm a bit peeved at the attempt to brush me off like that, but they ended calling me to organise for a service person to come and address these issues, who replaced the latch on 28 May 2020, but stated the door can't be fixed and needs to be replaced. They took a picture and said they would send this through to their manager. At this point, I'm expecting some for of follow up fro their end. Nope. I sent a follow up email on 4 June 2020 with a picture of the damaged linen closet door seeking an update.

Their response on 5 June 2020 was: 'Thanks for the picture, unfortunately this is not considered warranty or a defect as it has been clearly been damaged after handover and not from the fault of McDonald Jones.
You will need to engage your own external trade to have this rectified. '

Wow. I was literally gobsmacked by this response. The picture I attached to my email on 4 June was of the same damage that went out in my email 7 May. Nothing changed since then. Ultimately, this is a Warranty issue. Whilst the damage occurred after handover, it was caused by a faulty latch installed by McDonald Jones and thus the damaged door is also a Warranty issue.

Buyer Beware!

Last month they advertised their havana executive for $358,900 and this month with the $45k discount ad on tv, I enquired the price again and they said it is $364,000. They put their price up and give you the impression that they are giving you a discount. If they are willing to do that, I wonder what else they will rip me off? We are in the middle of a pandemic and people are losing their jobs - definitely a company without morals. I will not be building with them.

EDIT: I did talk to your building consultant and they told me themselves that prices have increased - not just one but two. Just stop lying! Until you can advertise the havana executive for $313,900 turnkey which is $45,000 off $358,900. I am sticking to my review.

I bought a ready build property from McDonalds Jones Homes. The appliances such as dish washer, microwave oven, gas cooktop, electric oven, range hood, air-con outdoor unit and water pump come with the contract of sale. This builder delayed initially to supply appliances and tried to avoid installing those appliances. I had to contact the builder 20 times before the settlement to get things done. The site manager is not contactable and no one take responsibility. I had to call GM and Project Manager of Mcdonalds homes to beg for appliances.

Be aware the builder offer free solicitor or settlement agent to avoid installation of appliances. Under NSW building code of conduct, there is a loop hole, the builder wants to exploit that loop hole. If the occupation certificate is issued and the property is settled than the builder is no longer liable to supply and install those appliances. Hence the builder offer free solicitor or settlement agent to buyer to avoid installation. This builder doesn't care about reputation at all.

Do not buy ready build property from this builder. They will try to put you through nightmare to avoid installation all appliances.

I am getting nightmare to get after sales support. It takes 10 days to get an appointment of electrician and 15 days to find who is the supplier of the pump as the builder is poor at record keeping.

Be aware buyer.
