45 A wonderful tenancy advocate / legal advice (and solid effort) from Nikki (and fellow volunteers). I've been pretty cash-strapped lately in the context of the huge cost of living (amongst other personal issues). These guys are just angels.
I feel blessed, relieved, and amazed for the care, compassion, and help that I got while dealing with my specific rental/housing problem. In addition, my problem was resolved. I absolutely recommended these legends!
Somewhat robotic legal advice.they told me to follow a process which I knew already and existed in the public domain.
Advice was circular and they did not give me a real answer as to the legality of my issue.
I had a query on challenging a bill and the advisors response was that, " it's not that much". What a strange response from a legal professional, adding emotion to the proceedings.
The advisor didn't even attempt to address me by my name. He didn't even Confirm who he was speaking to!
This is my first time leaving a 1 star review as I believe MLC have a very weak legal advisors. They can only provide legal advise that is easy. I felt that the lady who spoke to me over the phone wanted to put the conversation down as soon as I've pick it up. She started with a big sigh before speaking. I also felt that she didn't want to hear my side of the issue. I am extremely disappointed.
So happy they exist. Helped me with a bond issue and gave me detailed advice to make an informed decision. Truly grateful
My first 1 star review; disappointing really.
As a Marrickville local, I contacted MLC through recommendation for legal advice, which I’m sure they’re being subsidised by the government for (like many of the other programs like NEIS) …. Surely a government cash grab it seems.
To meet eligibility there was a questionnaire, and after informing the person on phone that the company I run had a high gross turnover but my personal income is low (due to the nature of how the business works - everyone knows, NET reflects your income more accurately than gross) … I suddenly didn’t meet their and their “roster was full”.
Clearly something that would have been mentioned at the start of the phone call if it was actually true (they didn’t even ask me about the case I had in question…). Also seemingly a personal choice, rather than actually giving me the opportunity to provide my tax documents to show that surely I’d meet the income requirements.
I asked to talk to the supervisor who made the call, but they were apparently too busy, even though it’s surely within their duty to address matters like this.
Unless it’s too difficult a task to assist somebody in need, which surely is the purpose of the service in the first place.
I invite MLC to contact me directly to resolve or share transparency on the situation, but at this stage I have no choice but to share my frustrations and experience.
Not something I like doing negatively, but I’m without options now.

Just today has been great at the civil court. He has dealt with high integrity honesty and true care. He provided effective, efficient, very respectful and kind support.
I didn’t get help as tenant. I didn’t understand the concept. Is it advocating for real estate agents and property owner.
MLC have been incredibly professional, helpful and kind in giving me legal advice when I needed it most. I would highly recommend this centre.

Waste of time. They are lazy and very good at lying. I was told that their lawyers at the centre don't have the expertise to fill out legal forms if you can believe that.close your office MLC because your doing a major disservice to the community.
Got pushed away after refereed by another legal centre, feel sorry for people who has spoken high for this place but did NOT get any advice or help. Been told by the other legal centre that they are very good at strata law however very disappointing. Their phone is no waiting time and easy to get through, can't see that they are full capacity as they described.
If you want to walk out feeling worse about yourself then talk to these people. Most underqualified and condescending workers, dont bother wasting your time, got the worst legal advice even someone who doesnt know anything about the law would say the same thing. Basically just work for the government and ask you to plead guilty on charges which can most likely be beaten. Some uneducated American woman who works there also felt the need to start giving her disrespectful personal opinions and comments on my circumstances which was very judgemental and not needed for my case.
Hopeless. Received call back and felt like I was being interrogated by a guy who said they couldn’t provide legal advice as i had already revealed I was part of a strata committee, and it would be conflict of interest with no explanation on what that meant. Then hung up on me when I said he wasn’t being helpful. Probably not trained on how to speak to people or over his job. Waste of time.

Been calling for over 10 business days to get advice, then different volunteers (Sanjeev, Rachel, Michelle) call and leave msgs for me, then I call again but no one answers the phone they advertise, I leave the msg. And you know the rest. Unprofessional, rock bottom company, not sure why they advertise service they don't provide. Left msg again, asking someone from higher up to give me a call and provide proper phone # where I can actually reach a person, one day I may even talk to a lawyer. Let's pray:)
