Marcel just did an exceptional job on my shoes, for 30% less than the other expert shoe repair I would have gone to in Wynyard. They've been in business for 20+ years and covid hasn't been kind to it! I will be returning for as long as possible to support the business, plus getting a lot more wear out of a pair of boots I absolutely love and would struggle to replace.

I bought this pair of shoes in Brazil 10 years ago - very good quality shoes. As you can see from the before and after photo, the sole was almost destroyed. But Marcel fixed it with such attention to detail. Couldn’t be happier with his services.

Despite all the positive reviews, I rang the shop to enquire how much it would cost to cut a car key and the man said "we don't do car keys" and hung up.

Super reasonable prices and lightning fast key cutting ($5 per key). May be a bit grouchy sometimes but a very nice person at heart.

On an ordinary Wednesday, I stumbled into Marcel's to get some repairs made to my backpack. As he began to work, I took a seat on the bench inside the store. An elderly Greek man walked into the store to wish Marcel a Happy Easter, and as he was about to leave, he saw me sitting on the bench and extended me the same courtesy, and telling me to make the most of my youth and my life. He then proceeded to tell me a story:

As a young man was crossing the street, he saw an old man, ready to collapse, planting an olive tree. The young man, perplexed, proceeded to ask the old man what on earth he was doing. The old man said "I live like I'm immortal, I won't stop working just because I'm old". The young man replied "That's outrageous, I live every day like it's my last"!

We discussed with each other - who was right in this situation? We came to the conclusion that, if everyone lived like the young man, nothing would ever get accomplished, and that we can't just live in the moment. But on the other hand, there comes a point where you do need to look after yourself, take a step back, and enjoy life.

Before I knew it, Marcel interrupted us to ask if I was satisfied with the work he had done (which of course it was superb). I then left the store both wiser and with a neatly sewn backpack.

Friendly, helpful, good value and good quality repairs on shoes and leather goods. Even had the time to offer advice on how to fix something I wanted to do myself.

It cost me only $5 to get a key cut, which was completed in less than a minute. Excellent value and service.

Marcel's the best! If you call, he might not be the nicest guy, but if you go in, he'll help however he can. I broke my car key shell and called several places and they all want around $90 to do a new one for me, and my key completely broke off of the shell today and I couldn't start my car without using a tool, so I went in and he advised I should get a key shell online for cheap (which I did, for $9), and he can cut it for me for $8-10, I also asked him to help me cut a temporary one using a regular key blank, which he did very quickly and it worked like a charm. I'll go back for sure once I receive my key shell! If you need a key copied, go no further.

$45 for heel replacement on a pair of shoes. After getting the shoes back the edges of the soles were not cleaned up just the heel slapped on. Other places I have been to usually clean up the edges a little bit to make them look nice.

After a few weeks of light use the heel has started to wear. I think the heel material is sorta soft. Also it took a week to get the shoes done.

That said he does cut keys and sell other bits and bobs for cleaning and gluing shoes back together

I needed 4 keys cut from 2 keys. Marcel did a great and fast job, all keys worked perfectly. Extremely affordable as well. Much better than Mister Minit, who did a bad job and none of the keys they gave me worked. Would 5/5 recommend Marcel's!
