Manly Surf School

One of the most beautiful beaches in Australia to learn to surf. After a short theory session we went straight into the waves. The staff ratio was high and the surf instructors were friendly and patient. Make sure to book early, the courses fill up quickly.

My 8 year old daughter had 4 lessons here. I was so impressed by the positive energy of the instructors and their responsiveness to the students individually that I can whole heartedly recommend them.

Straight up the best surf school in the country. Tried a lesson at Bondi and was so frustrated by the chaos that I almost quit. Then I booked into Manly Surf school and from the very first lesson coaches and staff were super supportive, encouraging and helpful in all conditions and weather. I’ve seen major progress in a short time. Worth booking into lessons here, trust me! Highly recommend asking for Nick, Tas, Thomas, Bella, Gabby, Mika, Shane, Igor, Ricardo, Tomas, Angus…. They’re all amazing! A solid women’s program as well. Staff are super accommodating, professional and helpful no matter your skill or level!

For my first time on a surfboard, it's a real success. The setting is beautiful and the monitors are just top. I recommend for all beginners. I really had a great experience with my friends.

The young instructors were not helpful and they were surfing by themselves. No instructions or telling the wave what so ever. The worst experience wasting my money.

I took 2 1: 1 lessons from Nick and Max - both were fantastic and really took the time to customize the lesson to my ability. I leveled up quickly and improved a lot. Learned a lot both sessions. Highly recommend for beginner surfers trying to move to the next level.

We lived in Manly for a few months and this place is even better than the great reviews say. They are a great group and they run excellent lessons. Flexible on bad surf days and helpful on good surf days!

Had so much fun at my first surfing lesson with these guys in a group of 21 people. They are very dedicated, helpful and fun. They explain a lot of the basics and then get you have your go in the white water. Fun way to learn and definitely made me want more. Thanks guys! I'll sleep very well tonight

My friend and I had such an amazing experience at Manly Surf School! All the instructors were really kind and helpful. A special shoutout to Zoe, who gave me great pointers and was always looking out for me!

We had a great experience at Manly Surf School. Staff was great and very informative. This was our first time for our 8 years old daughter to learn surfing. Our instructor Innes was amazing, Lara enjoyed it so much, and she is looking forward to have more classes at Manly Surf School

Fantastic experience as a first surf lesson. Lots of help and support in and out of the water from coaches, especially leader Kelly. All four of us just about managed to stand up a few times by the end!

We absolutely loved our surfing lesson from Manly Surf School and had to come back the next day. Besides the great experience, the surfers were all so friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!

I was an absolute beginner doing this, with no experience in surfing whatsoever. On a beautiful sunny day, i put on my wetsuit and was ready and excited to go n surf!
However i had to drag my heavy surfboard (my beginner board being quite big) along the sand for a good 300-400mts - this literally exhausted me as a whole, as I could feel most of my energy already spent. Both going and coming back.
Then we just went in the beach and with almost no energy left, the waves rocked me over as expected- many times over.
The instructor did a good job and was quite patient and tried to make us catch the wave and stand. It was a exhaustive but fun experience.

Whether it's sunny or rainy, the teachers are just as serious and responsible and reassuring
Kids have classes, and adults can walk or lie on the beach

While I wasn't able to do my lesson due to the beaching have to close due to the tsunami warning. The guys were so friendly talking through what was happening ect.

Will definitely be back next time I'm in Sydney to try again

The instructors are unfriendly, especially to Asians. It wasn’t really worth of money because they were not teaching properly nor give good guidance in the water.

Always great to come back and surf at this school. Great teachers, always supportive and great tips. Awesome bunch of people. Thanks again

Manly Surf School - the best of the lot! Such an amazing crew of teachers who will take you under your wing and help you get a grasp on learning to surf. I've had multiple lessons, experienced the full gamut of conditions and always come back wanting more - testament to the quality and professionalism of the staff that have you always feeling safe, but challenged!

Friendly staff and the teachers are very informative and helpful in the group lessons, cant wait to go back when things are open. It's better when there's less people in each group and when all the group is at the same level, otherwise it gets a bit difficult for both the teacher and group.
