I have had polio since I was three and about six years ago was diagnosed with post-polio syndrome. My good leg, my left leg, was losing much of its function. I could feel my mobility declining steadily, especially from 2020 onwards. At the same time my backpain and pain in my neck and shoulders was getting worse. I tried physiotherapy and acupuncture but, by 2022 neither of them were helping. I needed pain-killers every night to dull the pain.
I have been seeing Dr Ronald Chen for almost seven months now. The difference has been dramatic. Within a few weeks with treatments twice a week I no longer needed pain-killers even at night. Over time that regime was changed to once a week and is now once a fortnight. There has been a steady improvement in my mobility. Without the pain I can do the things I enjoy - swimming a kilometre most days, walking moderate distances, doing my own shopping, coping with living alone. It is not a complete magic cure - the loss of some muscle function in my good leg remains, and my paralysed withered right leg is the same as it has been since I was three. However, the downward trajectory has been altered. The absence of pain is remarkable. A few weeks ago I travelled to Europe, was able to walk about by myself in the cities i visited, experienced no neck, shoulder or back pain. I no longer take pain killers except for completely unrelated issues like, briefly, for toothache.
I thoroughly recommend Ronald Chen and his style of massage and hand work for long term pain and for giving those with post-polio syndrome the best chance of holding onto their mobility as long as possible.

In 2012 my neck was so stiff that I could not turn my head without turning my whole body. Also I could not sleep for the pain and discomfort and this had an impact on my work. My GP said ''Osteoarthritis. No cure. Take Panadol. '' Painkillers did not give me relief. My career was at risk.
A friend told me of Ronald who had fixed his knee after he had a bicycle accident.
Ronald identified my stiff neck problem as actually coming from locked muscles in my shoulder blades. I got wonderful relief from the first treatment. The treatment was like a firm massage on pressure points around my shoulder blades. I came back for three or four treatments and my neck was freed completely.
I noticed the stiffness coming back this year 2022, after more than 10 years free of stiffness and pain. I didn't wait and I came back to Ronald straight away and he has worked his magic again. Amazing.

In June this year 2023 I aggravated an old back and shoulder injury by exercising and when carrying my beautiful new grandson. Ronald was able relieve my pain, free my movement and restore my quality of life with just a few sessions. Ronald has a gift. I am yet again very grateful.

Ronalds approach seems to achieve results quickly, and after 3 months I feel I am now returning because I want to.not because I have to.

I was diagnosed with De Quervain tenosynovitis and experienced some ongoing pain in my wrist and thumb for over 5 months. With many physiotherapy sessions, the pain was reduced, but would return and become aggravated with repetitive movement. I sought out Dr Chen, who was able to help reduce the pain significantly after one session and since then, the pain has not returned. I'm optimistic that the condition will be well-managed under his care and especially given his unique skill set.

I went to see Ronald about my shoulders, one of which has catastrophic nerve damage hence very limited movement. Improved function from just about the first visit, incremental at the beginning. Now six visits later things are changing for the better, much better results than expected. Still much to do, but definitely worth the effort.

Ronald has really helped me with chronic pain in my right hip that originated from an injury five years ago, I am so pleased with the results and incredibly grateful.
I thoroughly recommend him for anyone with unresolved pain issues. I had tried a variety of treatments to gain relief without success, Ronald has an amazing understanding of the body and his training as a medical practitioner definately assisted him in assessing and diagnosing the core issue which meant he was able to offer a targeted treatment plan for me.

Utterly disappointed. Beware of the reviews as I firmly believe they are altered.
Made a booking with the expectation that I would receive (at the very least) some type of physical relief, or acupuncture.
I spent a total of 22 minutes in there. 6 minutes of slight fiddling with my shoulder and the remainder with Ronald outlining the 'magic' he has done for other patients.
When I requested some acupuncture he explained that his hands provide better relief. An observation of my reflex movements and further discussion about my diagnosis (to which I outlined from the very beginning) and to my surprise the session was over.
I would strongly recommend calling and asking for a detailed description of what service he would be providing before spending your money.

6 weeks ago my husband arrived home early from work barely able to walk or lift his arms. It felt like every muscle in his body had seized up. After scans and doctor's visits bulging disc in lower back and 2 frozen shoulders.one more one less.was the diagnosis. He couldn't drive and getting in and out of the car was excrutiating. He could barely dress himself and sleep was practically non existent. We are long time clients of Ron and it was him i called first. In Ron's care my husband had good days and bad days but all along Ron kept reassuring him that it will get better. Now he is back at work.great movement in his arms and back and is now seeing Ron just for "maintenance". Ron's knowledge of the body and his hands are truely magic.

Ron was able to see me quickly after my initial enquiry which was a relief. After my first treatment my shoulder was feeling better, plus I had more movement than when I went in! I was diagnosed incorrectly and was recommended by someone at work by his reviews. Well let me tell you i am 90% better with 5 visits so far. I recommend him to anyone as he has magic fingers and i no longer need pain killers. Thank you so much for fixing me up.

I found out in November 2019 that i had a disc bulging at L4-L5 that was compressing the nerve roots as well as a 19mm cyst impinging nerve root on discs L5-S1. This was causing extremely painful sciatica down my right leg to my toes and was making my foot, calf and thigh muscles numb. It was very disconcerting driving with a numb foot.

I had been attending an Osteopath and a physiotherapist and a neurosurgeon and all agreed not to have the surgery and to just put up with the pain and discomfort.

I first attended Dr Chen's Magic Hands Acupuncture and Massage Pain Clinic in January 2020 and over the next 4 weeks went for treatment 7 times. After that i was well enough to drive to northern NSW with my wife fora two week holiday.

Upon returning i have been on a monthly maintenance program, the exception being when i developed a very painful shoulder and neck problem. (More arthritis) and atteneded more frequently.

Dr Chen certainly has magic hands because of his expert knowledge of the musculo-skeletal dysfunctions that occur within the human body and the nerves running through them.

For anyone who suffers huge or chronic pain, I recommend you give him a go. You may be very surprised at what he can achieve for you.

I saw Ronald in September with a bulging disc. I had been seeing a chiro and physio for 4 months with little improvement. After 2 treatments with Ronald my pain significantly decreased and I was able to bend down and lift my leg. Also my flexibility had significantly improved. I highly recommend Ronald!

I got really bad lower back pain that travelled down to my left leg. Found out it was bulging disks and that I may need surgery. I couldn’t go back to work or walk properly. I went to Ronald and with his massages I am now able to go back to my job and move freely. Excellent service!

Dr Chen helped me when GPs, specialists, physios and osteos had not been able to. I had spent nearly $20K on treatments over 3 years and was continually having to take strong painkillers. Within 2 months, I am now only occasionally taking a couple of paracetamol and I can concentrate at work again. It has been the most effective (and most affordable) treatment I’ve had.

AMAZING! Would definitely recommend. I started going to Ronald with upper and lower back pain. Turns out it is bad posture from standing on my feet all day from being a hairdresser. After a few treatments I could instantly tell the difference. I still go to him once every few months for a general treatment. I have learned it is so important to look after the muscle in your body! He really does have the magic touch with fixing muscle pain.
